He's the only one that I know of that can actually make that part of it look amazing.. The other attempts are a joke. Yuki is photo 1 and ndt 2. Mine has the plots wrong but because the rest of the dial is gen and looks so good it's forgivable. Just like the minhq dial's slightly wrong font is forgivable because of the amazing plot work!!

Minhq has the best dial for this imo,, be prepared to spend for it though, usually in the 1000$ range just for the dial. Besides that yuki, ndt and phong have them but you would have to get them relumed to look better. Minhq's looks great out of the box.

  9. Got to love the weight and feel of a solid gold rolex, very nice.
  10. I always check with my country's (Canada) postal service, if they have it in the system it means it in your country if not its still en route. I go to Canadapost and enter the number try going to the website of the country's postal service where you're from
  11. No reliable rep no, and gold plating sucks.. Enjoy the gen, why would you want a copy of it? It's a nice piece, it might end up being more collectible than the standard dials, who knows.. Imo the one that will be most valuable over time is the meteorite dialed versions. They are very unique and all have a slightly dif appearance. Those pn ones are cool but as far as collectibility it's anybody's guess.
  12. No, it's like comparing 60's cars with modern ones, not horse and buggy!
  13. This would be a good start.. http://www.network54.com/Forum/207673/message/1351260862/FS-+GMT+1675+Project+-+3.0m+Case+-+PRICE+REVISION+%2AUS%24999%2A Edit, sorry wrong case 3135 is the newer movement.. Doh..
  14. Quote from a blog: "I can only say - that collecting vintage rolex subs could be a very alternative pension plan ;-) What is positive about having vintage watches as a pension plan. It is fun You can look at your investment daily You can wear your investment No tax when selling your watch investment Risk - so so - but that is also true about stocks It could be fun ....."
  15. When I see one I think, hmm he could have had a nice 5513 or 1680 or 1675 and the like, for the price he paid for that.... It's kind of a shame actually because I really believe that the prices of those 4 digit watches will skyrocket in the coming decades. I do not believe that the modern sapphire ones will be very collectible with the exception of the ones that didn't sell well (so less of them were made) and 'limited' ones like the lv green subs and such, and the few that had military affiliations (comex etc). Problem is they're too well made imo, the dials won't change over time, at least not anywhere as dramatically as the older ones. They are all exactly the same, there are no major dial variations or use of silver or gold gilt, no gilt handed versions or versions with diff hands. I think many would agree that when you buy a vintage watch you are buying a one of a kind item, no two are exactly alike. In the future when all these watches are up for sale, yes they will cost more than they do now but who cares, boring, meanwhile the old unique ones will sell for small fortunes. Everyone wants perfection these days, my bezel insert has a tiny scratch on it, service it and have rolex swap it for a new one and let them keep the old one?!?, ya that makes sense.. The owners won't even allow their watches to age. Like California girls, forever young.
  16. Good stuff, glad you got it this time!! I owe this forum a lot. I learned so much and acquired some amazing pieces, and friends. This really is a great place, I stop in daily, don't know what I would do without it. Enjoy the watch and one day you can pay it forward to someone deserving. Cc
  17. I had a watch sit in a depot for a little over a month and a half until one day I got a knock on the door and there it was. Also worth mentioning that the sender might get it back.

    Original?

Lol, sprayed with a straw!! A bit of an exaggeration! But I know what you mean. I have since cancelled the purchase. It is a very nice example but if I'm buying a gen at that price (was on the high side) that isn't 100% original or that I can't really prove is redone or not, i think it's best to stay away. I found this one which was a bit more $ but not much more, and seems to be a better choice. This dial looks to be right. Is this one a relume or is it original? I thought that the sellers would be very forthcoming on vrm but it seems that maybe even they don't know sometimes if something is 100% original.. Shame. Verdict on this one?
