  1. Although i love to see this guy banned, i doubt he ever will... i don't understand why people make a big fuzz, while this guy is trolling, there are members among us who take it to the scam level. go figure.
  2. nice, have you fiddled around a bit with it? i came to conclusion, when my new hands set arrived, the AS movement wont accept the ETA seconds hand, the hour, and minute are fine, the secondhand seems to have too large a tube to fit the pinion.
  3. Your friend is correct the pic you included show oyster band, the pic from river on photogalleryforum shows jubilee band.
  4. Sssurfer, please check http://www.photogalleryforum.com/forum
  5. yes, that, and she shits al over the kitchen
  6. checkout photogalleryforum, river has datejust for 150 bucks exactly what you want. there is no flawless datejust i tell you that. for comparison real and rep (also from river) see http://www.rwg.cc/members/index.php?showtopic=560&hl=

  8. Nice to see a man backup his word. I salut you PT!
  9. does the aftermarket bracelet on the datejust have the right end-links? iow do they fit the case perfect like the geniune bracelet end-links? if so would you share with us where you bought the aftermarket bracelet. Iam looking for datejust bracelets myself but worry about the end links not fitting the case properly. [edit]Nevermind i just read it was shitty[/edit]
  10. Thanks for the valuable info The Zigmeister
  11. 8mm that's pretty slick, does it house a 289x?
  12. What tool is suitable for cutting a stem? tips and howto's very much welcome. regards, Job
  13. Nice watch Randy, still on my wishlist. How thin/thick is your case?
  14. for non permanent dont bother even for permanent, like i sayd, you can buy complete rolex rep for like 160-350 bucks, you mod it to fit org movement, so you will end up with: fake looking watch, which everyone can see, and gen movement which nobody can see. i dont get it.
  15. For a rolex datejust: gen case on the bay usd 150-300, gen movement on the bay usd750-xxxx why would you put a gen movement in rep case? espacially on non see-thru back watches?
  16. meybe this wil help: http://firefoxis.buggyashell.nl/index2.html
  17. @all thanks! @manuel Well, i was lucky i could use the spacer ring from the donor rep. but as you could see, i have 2 other cases to fill, and i am out of donors, iam searching for solutions myself. I have some ideas, but i will have to test them.
  18. hefty article! thanks
  19. btw, how does the 284x series advances the date CW o CCW?
  20. Nice work!, the 2846 is good alternative indeed and an easy swap.
  21. Thanks for posting, thats very usefull info.
  22. This post tells the story how to make a franken datejust in just a couple of unnumbered steps. This shows the fast way without changing the dial. This can be however easily be taken into the procedure. The reason i want to do this is because i really like plastic crystals, and the profiles of that time. Also because the datejust reps are not ver accurate. The ingredients of this project are: -A fully functional replica datejust. The rep i used originated from river. -A complete datejust case + crown i bought off the bay. Tools needed: -Watchmakers screwdriver set. -grip tool to remove and set stem to crown. various tools can be used. Stage one, spot the fake: The donor and the gen 16030 case: Note the differences in the dial, there are plenty! this 16030 case was born mid 80' and originally houses the 3035 rolex caliber. Lets compare a bit, this pic shows the profile of the rep case: The gen profile: Side by side The crowns: Note the spot on the gen case where the crown sits to the case, it is very different from the rep. The casebacks Note the rep caseback is much thicker and heavier then the gen. Top shows the rep caseback, the fingerprints arent mine, so FBI, do not bother to match them up. the fingerprints are also not removable. The crowns and stems side by side. The long one is the gen crown + stem On this pic you see the ETA stem fitten to the rolex crown. Next to it the rolex stem and rep crown. Here all parts except the casebacks. Top is the gen case, the gen crown fitted to the ETA stem, and bottom is the rep case housing the donor movement and spacer. On this pic the empty donor shell is above, the movement is dropped into the gen case, and the plastic spacer is slided on top of it. Now a steel spacer would be better however i haven't got one so this will have to do for now. The crown is fitted, the case closed, this is the result: It still needs a few things, a steel spacer would add to the weight, and gives it a more geniune feel to it since a gen is heavier due to the movement. Also the dial needs replaced obviously. The rep dial is full of flaws. But i choose to take the shortcut route for this little tutorial since i havent got enought trust yet in my handsetting skill to undertake the procedure. Hope this helps in your own projects Regards, Job
  23. Nice project, i am working on one of these myself
