  1. Thanks for all the advice guys. I ordered a Bergman full steel rollerball pen from Joshua in the end. It's free shipping and I am happy with everything else I have had from him. I was going to hang around for a consensus to jmcavalier's question, but I found the strangest thing - my eye is more drawn to some of the Montblanc rep designs than the originals! For example, a Meisterstuck platinum plated rollerball does not look as nice (to my eye) as the 'Rep' Bergman full steel. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder! I'll let you know what the pen is like when it arrives...
  2. If the pen is mightier than the sword, then what you have is not a collection but a WMD cache! But seriously, I am after a well constructed polished SS rollerball. It doesn't have to be very faithful to a Gen Montblanc (unless there is a really good rep of an SS pen that you would recommend). Which one would you recommend? I tend to get my reps from Joshua @ perfect clones. Thanks
  3. B I N G O ! Thanks Guys. IWC Ingenieur looks pretty sweet with the black dial.
  4. That's good to know. Don't like the diamond cap on the etoile though. Do you think the Ingrid Bergman will be okay?
  5. Folks, I was looking at Andrew's and Joshua's sites and noticed they can get hold of some of Replica Montblanc pens. Now I know the fountain pens might be a problem, but I figure you can't go wrong with a rollerball. I'd quite like a simple polished SS Montblanc like this one: http://www.yourtrustytime.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=222_223&products_id=6160 Anyone got any experience of these?
  6. Guys, There is the Arctura inspired Seiko case/bracelet shape used on a few of their current watches which I find very appealing. Like the smooth line taken between the bracelet and the case What would you call this shape / arrangement? Are there any of the modern swiss watchmakers that has case/bracelet sets like this. I know there is an old Heuer that is a bit like this, and some pictures of the 45mm planet ocean look a bit like it. Thanks N
  7. The next thing it will say is Cleared customs, sent to local depot. It won't take long now ...
  8. I think it might look better with the smooth bezel.
  9. Thanks for this. My own reading up married up with what you said, and given that there is no current DayDateII in two tone I got the DateJustII in two tone. I hope the two tone isnt a mistake. Somehow the full gold wrap seems a little too much bling, and stainless steel is just a little understated. I agree that the 36mm stainless steel smooth bezel with the light blue dial and silver numerals that by-tor has reviewed is just stunning, but I have a gen Rado to wear for that kind of situation. Elsewhere others on the forum, others have said the 18k gold plating on these reps is about as good as on a gen Seiko. I had one of those as a daily beater a few years back and it did pretty well. I am keeping my fingers crossed! BW N
  10. Have a look at Zelenis QC pics in the other thread. That white dial looks like someone got a big sticker and stuck it on the middle of the dial. I can see why he wants the colour of the dial to be #mellowed# a little before wearing it.
  11. I got one of these last month - like most people I've yet to see the gen version. It's had a lot of wrist time. Hope yours will too!
  12. Joshua has these which have grey dial, not SS http://www.1-pc8838.com/r41djs02013-osyter-fluted-grey-swiss-28362-p-7035.html Worth asking him if he can get one for you?
  13. Folks, I am thinking about getting a more dressy watch than the ExpII I got from Josh last month, and like the look of the two tone DateDate II with ETA 2836 that Joshua has on offer (not sure I could swing the full yellow gold version). I favour the steel and yellow gold, roman numerals, and eiher a pearl dial or a gold dial: http://www.1-pc8838.com/r41ddt01119-ssyg-pres-fluted-white-roman-swiss-28362-p-7108.html http://www.1-pc8838.com/r41ddt01114-ssyg-pres-fluted-gold-roman-swiss-28362-p-7110.html Any advice / recommendations would be most recommended. How do they wear under a shirt cuff? Is the YG plating reasonably tough (won't be wearing this every day) Thanks N
  14. Funnily enough I just got the Blue Loctite out for one of my Helicopters. Which Genius decided to put Blue Loctite in a red tube ??!??!? Thanks for the info...
  15. Folks, I just got my shiny new Blackbird from Joshua today. I finally got the pilot bracelet adjusted (no-one told me how hard that would be) and I have just noticed the top rider tab (the one with the pearl in it) is very slightly loose. Are the screws that hold on the rider tabs real? I don't want to take my screwdriver to it if the screw head is non functional. Thanks N
  16. Anyone vouch for how good the noise cancellation is on these bad boys?
  17. Got an email response from Tony. Quoted 90 usd with EMS shipping for the White studios. Even got a discount for mentioning I had seen them on the forum. So I have ordered a pair. Very polite comms throughout!
  18. I got a BR02 Instrument (Lite version with Asian movement) from Joshua this morning. It looks great and at first glance the lume looks good and strong on his version. It#s good to hear from Pynchon that it is waterproof. I wasn;t sure about the He release valve and whether it might let water in.
  19. So the delivery guy brought a nice parcel just as I was getting set to head out to work. I unboxed my BB with bracelet and leather strap just to check everything looks okay. Caseset and bracelet look really good. Pearl placement and AR look good. Lume on hands and subhands is strong, not sure about hour markings. Left this and the (very nice) BR02 in the winder and headed off to work. Will takes some pics this evening.
  20. 42$ EMS takes the white studios to 102$. If you look on Aliexpress there are lots of people selling a little cheaper than this but with free EMS shipping. Big savings are to be had if you buy more than 1 set. Also people in the UK are selling these on Ebay as serial auctions, claiming damaged boxes or OOB stock, with selling prices of around 70GBP. Package shots show these are coming from the same source...
  21. Dave. Thanks for the link. V interested in these. How was the communication from the vendor?
  22. You were right on that one. I ordered the brushed caseset and Josh said when he got it in he was not prepared to send it out. So instead he's sent out the polished caseset. QC pics look great - pearl is spot on and the AR looks nice and strong. I am getting the leather strap as well.
  23. Mmm - I feel a Philosopher's axe argument coming along. When the first replica bodykit came out for a VW Beetle, word was that the folks at Porsche quite liked it, imitation being the highest form of flattery. The *only* people I don't like are the guys who dress up Gens in Rep boxes looking to fleece ebayers of several thousand dollars of their cash. It is nice to see that RWG members regularly flag these up on the site. My 2 pennies worth ...
  24. Looks a bit too Doc Emmett Brown to me !!!
  25. Awesome watch, the picture next to the 47mm MM really shows just how big this is. Do you think that a watch that big is likely to cause dermatographia on a stainless steel strap?
