  1. He is working hard on it and I will be crushed if he can't get into my baby to do his magic. He is luming the dial/hands, doing the crown guard work and bringing my 93150 back to original status and then installing. I already have the gen tube/crown, gen tropic crystal and gen vintage insert (rare, I believe). This one will be pristine once it is completed.

    Congratulations.gif

  2. After a rep watch is introduced, will the factory at a later date make further improvements??

Whenever the rep factories make "improvements" to existing watches they always screw something up along the way - that used to be good. Perfect example: vintage Daytona. It used to have the trailing subdials issue, but when they decided to fix that, they re-did the entire face and made it look totally goofy.

  3. Isn't the whole "overwinding" business a myth since today's movements have safeguards to protect this from occuring? Besides, what kind of a moron could possibly be stupid enough to over-wind a watch with a POWER RESERVE INDICATOR?

It sounds like it was a legit malfunction, possibly caused by the stress of being in the mail - it might have taken a knock at the post office, something might have slipped...

  4. Hi people - I'm Pete and new to the forum, I live in Aurora just north of Toronto Canada My other obsession is flyin kites competitively all around North America and the world.

    Hi!

What an interesting hobby - competitive kite flying! Ok!

My name is Pete too- and I'm also from Canada; just not Toronto. I find kites generally uninteresting and pointless, however.

Anywho, see you around the forums!

  5. I personally believe that the shortage of ETA movements will be an anti-climactic situation that ends up being solved before it really comes to a head. It's sorta like Y2K all over again....

Yes. We're already seeing more and more reps with the Asian eta clone movements - and I've heard of few problems with them. Maybe around 2010, ETA movement reps will surge in pricing - but who knows the developments China will have made by then...

  6. Dear Rolex,

My name is Corgi. I don't dive but occasionally go swimming. Life is tough - - but I could greatly benefit from your support. If you could find it in your hearts to send me any one of your fine timepieces, preferably gold or platinum, it would be much appreciated.

    With love,

    Corgi.

...any day now friends... any day now...

  7. I've noticed a number of threads with huge view counts...like 1000+ views...and then maybe 9 comments.

Is it me, or does this seem a bit rude?

I'll admit I can be pretty lazy most of the time, but I think if we gain something useful (be it positive or negative) from reading a post, I think we should let the author know we appreciate the time they have spent. It's common courtesy.

My toddler was saying thank you to pay people when we walked through doors who were going to blast on through without holding the door for me in spite of me wheeling a stroller and carrying a second kid...only to have the passer-by guiltily and sheepishly turn around to hold the door for us only AFTER hearing my toddler saying thank you for something they had no intention of doing.

It's sad when a toddler is teaching an adult manners.

    I challenge RWG folks to:

    - Increase their post counts

    - Improve their karma

    - Pass good will

    - Encourage each other to share more information

by posting replies, feedback, ratings...whatever. It will be good for you...and good for the community.

    Sorry Toadtorrent, but I'm afraid I don't agree 100%

"Quality over quantity" is, to me, the paramount of a successful internet website or forum. I would rather have 9 intelligent, insightful, or entertaining contributions than 200 repetitive, generic, non-constructive replies made solely to increase post count and, in turn, popularity.

Furthermore, buttons have now been invented to allow users to "thank" or "rate" various posts, making it unnecessary to create a separate post except in some circumstances.

If you ask me, RWG is on the right track in balancing user frequency with overall board atmosphere. There is a tremendous amount of knowledge here and most of the people sharing have something important to say. I, too, encourage any shy members to voice their opinions, questions, and responses - but let us not forget the guiding rule we share with so many newcomers: education. I believe we should be patient with users who prefer just reading, and learning about, this wonderful hobby.

I think the discussion at the Hublot factory went something like this:

Executive 1: Well, the Big Bang is already one ugly watch, but how can we possibly make it look even worse?

    Executive 2: I don't know - we've already tried almost every combination imaginable. I don't think it's possible!

Executive 3: Eureka! I got it gents - let's paint it the color of poo!

Executive 1+2: Brilliant! I think we're going to win Basel again this year with our new

    'fecal bang'.

  9. Lange-extra-plate.jpg

    Hi

This is the A. Lange & Sohne Richard Lange edition watch. Narikaa sells a very accurate (near 1:1) exclusive replica... he posted pictures once but I guess people bought them all. It is a very rare and amazingly accurate watch so I heard. If you badly want an accurate Lange, you have to get in touch with him.

  10. What part of TX are you trying to move to Corgi? I've lived in San Antonio and Austin and I have family in Dallas and Houston so I know the state pretty well. I'd love to move back but my wife likes Georgia but she is from Texas. Go figure.

This is going to take about 7-10 years for my plan to work; I have been researching some communities in Dallas - many are absolutely breathtaking. I think location is going to depend on where career takes me; for now, I want to get some kind of specialization so I can ensure employment opportunities once I arrive. I have never actually been to Texas physically (only movies, photos + my imagination) but I'm sure it can't be much different from where I currently live. I'm just tired of the constant cold weather, stupid people, poor values, and complete lack of culture here in Canada - it's sickening to live here. It's absolutely disgusting and every day I wake up to see the Canadian flag I die a little inside.

  11. BOTTOM LINE...: Unless you are the buyer, or the seller, you should STFU!!....This simply IS NOT ANY OF YOUR BUSINESS!!

Threadcrapping is almost ALWAYS done only by self righteous horses asses..

WTF are YOU to get involved in a sales transaction between two consenting adults ??

If you think the watch is overpriced, by all means...DON'T BUY IT!!! <_<-_- -_-

    What an imbecilic statement.

As a member of RWG I care enough about this community to let people know not to be fooled and defrauded by a dishonest or unethical seller. I would like to think others share this perspective as well; because when the time comes, it might be me who's on the receiving end of a bad deal and I want to know about it thank you!! I'm done...
