What a depressing thought. But maybe I'd choose the GMT Master. Pepsi, Red/black and all-black bezels actually make it three watches in one.
-
Not "snobbery". You post pictures of a $20 Canal Street Special here, with day/date subdials, apparently from some kind of scam site... state in your subject title that "red versions of the SMP have arrived", and start listing the flaws. That watch has clearly nothing to do with our sources, or with the almost perfect 7750 replication of the SMP Chrono (the non-red version) that we already have. If you took my reply as "snobbery", it's your problem. It wasn't intended as that. I simply corrected the misrepresentation in your subject title, which was misleading. If they'd replicate the red version, it would be quite easy to upgrade the dial of the existing model, which is almost flawless.

Phew, another week is over. Wrote an article (work related) til' 02am and now it's 7'o'clock and I'm heading to the office. Not much time for RWG Fri and Sat I'm afraid (lots of unfinished work). This has been getting a lot of wrist time lately, and I'm wearing it again. My bklm-Noob GMT. Have a great weekend!

Andrew sells some ladies' Aquaracer models. He has diamond versions too. This is not the exact model, but it's a diamond Aquaracer with pink dial: Pink MOP Aquaracer Ladies More ladies' TAGs here Happy hunting!

The standard SMP looks fairly decent cheap rep, but where did you find such horrible SMP Chrono? I think I'm going to puke... That whole watch is one big flaw... and these have nothing to do with the stuff our dealers can source. It's a faux chrono $20 Canal Street special. I sincerely hope these pics aren't from our dealers.

I agree with jfreeman. Everybody knows that I'm a huge fan of the whole Rolex sports line, but the SteelFish easily puts ANY Rolex into shame, at least if we're talking "feel" and wrist presence. SFSO might not be the most beautiful watch ever, but it's really heavy and thick piece of steel for big wrists... without being clumsy and unbalanced like the 45mm Planet Ocean. SFSO is a perfect "macho diver". Who really cares what the price is?

"Ceramic bezel", what's that? This is the original. Well... almost.
-
Hey Nanuq, you forgot the stove pic. It's better to warm up the watch properly... before driving over it.

You did well kokedose. Nice pic of a great rep! You might want to resize your pics for the future. The width of 800x is sufficient for the forum use. If you don't have Photoshop, may I suggest Irfanview? It's an easy tool for picture cropping & resizing. http://www.irfanview.com/ PS: Welcome to RWG!

The biggest problem with the usual aftermarket GMT inserts is the color. Way too dark blue, and way too "burgundy" red on the Pepsi inserts. The ones Joe and Palp used to sell also had misaligned "dot" between 10 and 8. The font is a bit too tall on my "Noob" GMT, but the color is perfect 1:1. Same with the burgundy/black one. Excellent color & shine. And once again, beggars can't be choosers. 2007 model gen on the left, my rep (with jewelryoutlet insert) on the right (pic by bklm1234).

Rolex Gmt Master ll "Retro" (With the lugholes)
By-Tor replied to Stephane's topic in The Rolex Area
The datefont thickness isn't even nearly as apparent as Stephane's pic shows. See ElPrimerozen's comparison, "Retro" vs. gen here. http://www.rwg.cc/members/index.php?showtopic=25215 -
Decided to wear this one after a while.

Anybody have a Blue Dial "ultimate" BCE?
By-Tor replied to italiano17771's topic in The Breitling Area
It'd probably look fantastic without that diamond bezel. -
Awesome collection man... I love it! And I totally agree about SMP. It's a watch that I never get tired of. GMT, chrono and "Bond" are all equally great.
-
It's the size difference. Like I said, gold looks just wrong on "oversized macho watches". Daytona looks and feels extremely small (and almost feminine), when you put it next to the 'Racer. Personally, I don't care about any TT/gold Daytonas, either... but I agree the gold doesn't look that much "out of place" on a Daytona.
-
Yeah, it looks a bit clumsy on tt. That was my initial impression too. Gold doesn't usually go well with big and sporty watches. @Vic: That's the old date-only model with different pushers. But yeah, I'm sure there's a gen tt version of the day/date as well. Thanks.

From King's site. Personally, I'm not interested. The blue stainless steel version is pure perfection, but I'm not sure what to think about the two-tone model. Actually I wasn't even aware there's a two-tone version of this watch. Can someone verify there's a gen of this?
-
Nooo.... we order them just for the kicks. The default inserts are much better. It's a lot of fun to spend some extra money, buy from unreliable sellers and tear our watches apart. Seriously: For some reason the default inserts are crap. Especially on the GMT, and Faisal Ali's GMT inserts are very good. Not perfect, but much better than the rep inserts we get. Submariner's weak link is usually the pearl. Some aftermarket inserts (like wholesaleoutlet) come with much better quality pearl.

I agree, the money isn't the issue. The problem is that you except something to arrive, and it never does. Lying and dishonesty is the problem here. That guy is an idiot. Now he's losing a lot of sales because of his stupidity. I will never recommend him to anyone ever again. I still think you should point him into this thread.
-
Yes I agree. It's definitely not 1:1, but did someone seriously except that? I like the how the rehaut and crystal look. They look great. The crown is a major bummer to me... and like bklm said the bezel isn't what was promised. I didn't even catch that from those blurry pics. The Noob dial is better, yes, but that's virtually perfect, just like on the Noob factory GMT... and I'm sure they will never again replicate the dials that well again. But this is still better than the MBW/TW dials, imho. It also has a lot of flaws which could have been easy to fix before releasing it. Bracelet, insert, crown. I'm thinking this watch in the $200 - $250 price range where it should be, just a standard Sub replica. I don't think anyone's stupid enough to even consider paying $655 for it. The predecessor of this model was a ETA Noobmariner (sorry Neil), which was also sold for an outrageous price. Like I've said many times, it's only a matter of time when this is available through our dealers... and it certainly won't cost $655. For $200 or $250 it'd be a solid Sub replica.
-
I think it looks exactly the same. Excellent 16610. Some flaws, yes... but fixable. This IS the best one yet... the rehaut (front & side) are excellent. Shiny and metallic, and it looks like correct depth to me. Not too short like Nooby, not too deep like TW/MBW. Good crown guards... but once again shame about that crown. I guess it's impossible to make even remotely like the gen...read: correct thickness. I'm sure our dealers will get this too. @ngdenny: Thanks for the pics.
-
To be fair, the second markers almost touch the rehaut on the gen too. Not a big deal, imho. This new rep has very good looking frontal rehaut thickness and shape, like Noobmariner. Beats TW and MBW in that department. I think it's a good looking Sub. The insert and crown aren't great though.

Let's get it started early! For me: The GMT. Have a Pepsi and a smile!
