  1. @Alextor: You're welcome, no probs. And I didn't know the owners of that site are listed here as dealers. Never heard of them before. Here's Ziggys excellent movement breakdown of the 7750 "modification seconds at 6". It's certainly worth reading and it explains a lot: http://www.rwg.cc/members/index.php?showtopic=1414
  2. First: There's no guarantee that the watch actually comes with ETA Valjoux. Pictures prove nothing. I can put up a stolen picture of a Ferrari Daytona and claim it's mine. Second: What's that site anyway? "Etaworldofgoods"? They can't even make the pictures show up properly. Gee: Handbags, leather, watches, etc... sounds like a typical scam site selling "Swiss Rolexes" to me. Go ahead, send your money there through bank wire there if you want a gastric ulcer. Third: If the modification requirest the 11 extra gears to get the seconds at 6 it doesn't make any difference if it's "Swiss" or "Asian". It's unnatural evinronment and according to Ziggy the movement will probably fail anyway. All in all: It's better to stay away from sites like that. If there's a high-end rep somewhere our dealers can ALWAYS get it. This has always been the case. PS: I'm 99% sure some members have even purchased the "seconds at 6" Daytonas with genuine Valjoux. Search around, there should be something in the database. Good luck!!!
  3. Thanks Ken, it's much appreciated. I think I'll take Psychomodo's word that the rep caseback looks spot on. Actually... I originally thought this model comes with a glass back. At least I got verification to that.
  4. Oh yeah...some watches go really well with a suit. I couldn't imagine wearing a GMT Master Pepsi or orange PO with a black suit...but Breitling Navitimer looks wonderful with a suit (that shiny, polished bracelet and black dial). Actually I didn't realize it until I tried it today. Maybe this is a bit offtopic though. These are rather "watch specific traits", not really watch "functions".
  5. The most important is that it shows time. (sorry couldn't resist) I don't mind a dateless watch. My Speedmaster doesn't have a date and it's ok, it's my special occasion watch anyway. Sometimes it's even nicer, you don't have to set up the date (and wonder about the am/pm thing) when the watch has stopped due to lack of use/winding. I think the GMT option is pretty handy when you're travelling... but otherwise it's not so important. I never use stopwatch on my chronographs, those are just for the looks. Getting comfortable fit from the bracelet is important. My SMP is probably the most comfortable watch to wear, I don't even notice I'm wearing it. I also like my quartz Ebel. It's always keeping time and ready to go when I feel like wearing it. I usually put that on when I go to the gym (or playing football). I don't have just ONE specific important thing, it's just nice to have all kinds of different watches for different occasions.
  6. Man...you have bought the same watch AGAIN!!!!! You must be spying on me. I'll get the blue though. So this time it's at least a bit different. I know it's amazing. Everyone is saying how great it is and when I try to find the flaws compared to original...I can find nothing. Except the datewheel isn't centered properly on some watches. More about this when the review is done.
  7. I know how to "sniff around" too, but for some reason there's no caseback pic for this model series available. At least I haven't found one. I don't even know if it's a transparent glass back (like in Calibre 36... or solid). Thanks Ken, it's appreciated.
  8. Because in threads like this friends turn to enemies really quick. That's why. Watch this space closely.
  9. Hi, I'm doing excessive review of the whole TAG Link Chronograph line (that got repped recently). I have searched and searched but couldn't manage to find a picture of the genuine caseback of this model: I'd be appreciated. Thanks.
  10. Wow!! What a beautiful Speedy!!! Thanks for sharing (great pics too)!
  11. Yes, my reply was confusing. I meant the "new" EL version without lugholes is better overall although it has inferior case/crystal (in MY opinion only). But it depends on what you're after. Those "pimply" hour markers and crappy dial font would bother me more than the crystal/case thing. Just like hk45a said the "lugholes version" is much better watch if you're going to mod it (change the dial, crown, etc). It has better case to begin with. But the crown guard shape is so much off on the rep (too thick and "curved") that they're impossible to modify similar with the genuine. Experts will always spot it as a fake, no matter how much mods you do. This applies to MBW vintages as well. They're short and "spiky" (and much straighter) on the genuines but reps have the shape all wrong to begin with. Personally I have changed my approach a bit. Since I'm not skilled enough to do mods myself (like Randy and Tommy) I will probably never, ever pay extra to modify any rep watch (except service/fix the movements) anymore. It's too expensive and it won't be like the genuine anyway. I've given up hope with Submariners. Without excessive mods they're not that great replicas when it comes to accuracy (compared to many others). I just buy a watch that's good enough... and that I'm happy with... and then live with the flaws.
  12. I just noticed that I had the wrong date on my watch the whole afternoon. It apparently changed date on noon. I always feel like a dumbass when that happens.
  13. I never feel comfortable wearing a suit at work but today I just had to. But at least the watch choice was easy: Breitling Navitimer. It looks great with a suit: Blingy not too blingy.
  14. Yes. There are some things to consider though... my full review of this rep model comes out as soon as I get my watch. Probably in a week or so.
  15. Bentley is such an amazing rep. But I think the new TAG Link chrono is even better. I'm still shocked how well the factories did them... IN THEIR FIRST ATTEMPT!!! If the forthcoming reps are in the same quality it means we have to buy LOTS OF NEW WATCHES!!!
  16. Just wear them. My dad has a genuine Tudor Sub (with ETA movement) that ran 27 years just OK without any servicing. Of course those pass the QC, etc. but it's very rare to hear people reporting any problems with ETA movements, even after years of use. They're very good and reliable. If you run into problems with it you can always fix it (or even change the whole movement) later.
  17. I think these pictures tell it all. First pic was posted by my friend Davey way over a year ago. On the left: CN case. On the right: "TW Best" case. Below: Genuine Submariner. Besides the "rehaut depth" just notice how the inner ring is very metallic and smooth when it meets the crystal (in both TW version and genuine). In all CN versions the rehaut looks like it's made of two different parts... you know, where the crystal merges with the case. It's not smooth and straight and the inner ring looks "matte". It looks almost like there's a white seal ring, made of plastic (which is just the crystal edge). This is the easiest "fake spotter" in all Submariner reps. They have improved the Sub in many ways in last 15 months but the old TW version (and the new MBW version that Luckyyy was selling) are still the only ones where the crystal/case looks almost correct. Too bad the old "TW best" (that apparently George is selling too, and calling it "MBW") has awful dial, horrible crown guards and "jumbo" crown which completely ruin the watch. Don't waste your money on the outdated rep. If I had to choose I'd still take the EL version any day over it. Hope this helps.
  18. I posted this picture of genuine Submariner's crown guards and winding crown. This is reference material for the rep factories (I hope they're watching!!!) They can look at this pic long and hard and perhaps in couple of years come up with a version that looks even remotely like the genuine (at least in the dark).
  19. They both look very fake. Does this help? Seriously: That MBW watch has really bad guards, dial and winding crown. Wasn't the one that Luckyyy was selling much better? Can't remember anymore... Edit: Now I realized it. Isn't that the old "TW Classic" Sub? Davey had this one. We can call it whatever we want though (and pay a few hundred extra for a bad, outdated rep): MBW or BMW...
  20. Yes, I'm well aware of the TAG/Heuer history. Thanks for the link though, never seen that one before.
  21. Beautiful black Heuer. Thanks for sharing the pics. Actually I wasn't aware that this model is so old. Your Heuer has very similar design with the new AR2000.
  22. Listen to the Moderator! That's a great option too...and it also works with annoying people. Then there's the old saying: "There are very few personal problems that cannot be solved through a suitable application of high explosives". Keep 'em coming guys.
  23. Nice way to completely ruin a legendary sports watch. Tasteless.
