  1. Yeah I know TAG doesn't get much respect. Many WIS despise the whole brand. But keep in mind that TAG higher end models are completely different from their cheap-ass quartz junk. Link Caliber 36 has El Primero inside and it's one of the nicest looking chronos out there. Aquaracer 2000 Automatic is amazing (imho). I like the design of almost all their automatic chronograph models. Carrera has long traditions from the Heuer days, Monaco, etc. I'm not ashamed to admit that I like TAG.
  2. Great news!!! And I still want to see LOTS of pics of your amazing Aquaracer (when you get it back).
  3. I did quite big update for this guide today (as many new models have surfaced recently). New pics, new reviews added. Hope you find it useful (again). Enjoy.

  5. Yep, the rep isn't accurate (due to polished finish, shiny subdials, etc.) Personally those flaws don't bother me much. It's a nice watch. PS: I once did this review: http://www.rwg.cc/members/index.php?showtopic=3392
  6. I remember the poll you posted to the old RWG but I kinda suspect its accuracy. I think many people who don't even own a 7750-based watch just voted "broken" because they've heard it's a questionable movement. What veteran members tell about 7750 doesn't really go well with the poll results. Many have had problems but not even nearly as much as those results suggested. And you're right about the new 7750. Ziggy only have experience from the "extra gear" Daytona. According to Z oiling increases the friction, and the extra gear version didn't have any oil because in order to get the whole movement even functioning it required absolutely MINIMAL friction. So that could be the reason for the dry movement. We can only hope that the _standard_ new 7750's are better lubricated. If they are I suspect we're doomed to buy LOTS of new watches.
  7. Could we make more comfortably accessed brand-specific discussion/reference forums for the 4-5 most discussed watch brands? Now people post their watch reviews to "Dealer Reviews", "General Discussion" and brand-specific "photo galleries". It's kinda confusing, and certainly won't make browsing and searching for the noobs any easier. Frankly, I think it's a complete mess. Why people constantly post their TAG, Breitling, Rolex, PAM or Omega reviews and pictorials to the "General Discussion"? Because they don't necessarily even find the correct subforum!!! My best solution would be like at TRC (and almost ALL gen watch forums): "Panerai Area", "Omega Area", "Rolex Area" and perhaps TAG and Breitling Areas... and "OTHER BRANDS" for brands that people rarely purchase. Yes, including semi-popular brands like Breguet and Patek. Nobody has never, ever posted to the "Glycine Swiss" photogallery section for example. I say merge those. "EYECANDY" could be the last subforum for misc.rep pictures...like group shots and other misc. fun. These specific areas should also be presented in bigger print so people could actually find them. Based on my experience from other forums too many different subforums just make the forum more complicated and information MUCH more difficult to access. Yes, the search function is there but it's amazing how few people can actually use it properly. Sad but true. And those "photogallery" sections are much more than just galleries, which probably make some people think they just contain some reference pictures. Most watch reviews people post are there... and are kinda "hidden" behind the small print (if you know what I mean). Other (and technically perhaps easier) option is just to enlarge the print (or make it bolder) and stop calling them "Photo galleries" which they clearly just aren't. I think it works exceptionally good at TRC, and it would make the browsing and accessing watch reviews much easier. I also think moving Ziggy's exceptional movement reviews behind "Expert Area"-> "Movements"-> "Ziggy Zone"-> "Reviews, breakdowns" wasn't a good idea. You have to be really adventurous to actually ever find them. I think name of the "Expert Area" should at least get changed to "Replica watch movements & Expert Area"...to help finding those...and again get rid of as many subforums as possible. Then we even have separate "Reviews" section which only has Dlgates' (excellent) watch reviews. That could be merged with the "Other" section and give Dave his own subforum in there. Subforums "HELP" and "Hi, I'm new around here" and "Knowledge base" could be merged...and make the most important tutorial links sticky. And "Dealer review" should be used just for giving the basic information about the posters' latest good/bad transaction...not to post actual watch reviews/ pictorials (which again should be posted to the brand-specific subforums). This is a fantastic forum, the moderators and Thomas are doing great job. I couldn't be happier here... and these are merely ideas, suggestions and constructive criticism to make this place even better...and more easily accessible. I've been a moderator in many Internet message forums and I guarantee you: Simpler is always better...and lesser subforums is always better. Thanks for reading. BT
  8. Some people call themselves "watchmakers" and they can only change the battery and shorten the bracelet (as long as it's simple enough design). Go with Ziggy, the man is a Rembrandt of watches.

    Rocky Vi

This is bound to be great camp humor. Stallone is 173 centimeters tall and 60 years old. Now he's coming out of the retirement (or nursing home) and is after another heavyweight title. He probably heard that the current heavyweight fighting is in rather bad shape and saw his golden opportunity!!! Rocky VI: http://movies.yahoo.com/feature/rockybalboa.html
  10. That's quite a collection Kev. Quality over quantity, eh?
  11. I love this watch... I just love it!!! If only they made a Venus or 7750-based version.

  13. Yep, no need to be sorry. Just enjoy the ride...and welcome to the dark side of the watch world. It's much more exciting here than in TimeZone, I guarantee you that.
  14. Indeed. Great watch, great pics! How come I missed this one?
  15. This has been answered....what...? 1000 times during the last 12 months? No difference, no stress. Just buy the damn watch already.
  16. @Ubi: You're unstoppable. This is developing nicely. I predict it will be the "Best Sub" ever. Great work!!!

    007 Gen

Yeah, they never used the actual "007" model in the movies (as far as I know). So the standard blue SMP is the only official "Bond" Omega.
  18. Hmm, why is it that you always have to use nice looking ladies in order to make PAMs look good? Just kidding of course. Nice pics, thanks for sharing!!!
  19. I'm wearing my favourite agent watch today:
  20. @JJ: Re-read the review again. Ziggy says there's nothing wrong with the movement itself (despite poor oiling), but those 11 extra gears (that makes the seconds at 6 functional in Daytonas) cause the movement to fail. It's the same problem, even if you install genuine ETA Valjoux 7750 there.
  21. Here's the most important review of the new "seconds at 6" Daytona you can get: http://www.rwg.cc/members/index.php?showtopic=1414
  22. Looks like good old "TW Classic" SeaDweller. Far from "perfect" but probably still the best one there is.
