  1. I have never smoked in my life, but these old ads are so attractive that I might reconsider. http://www.chickenhead.com/truth/1940s.html
  2. Man you're a fast learner. Excellent choices indeed...and great reps. You definitely should. At least the ones you like. And I agree, I've been around for a while but I'm still just as amazed as I was when I received my first rep. I just look at my watches and think "Wow, that's a rep". Sometimes I find it hard to believe, even myself. Especially when you go to a AD and compare the 4th gen PO or Seamaster to their genuine counterparts. Even if you'd like to be cynical and ultra-objective you have to admit that they really ARE that good. Good things in life usually won't last forever, and I'm quite sure the availability of these things can become more difficult in the future. That's the pessimist in me. But even if all reps became unavailable today I'd be happy of what I've got so far. I have bought many watches that I always dreamed of. Just buy the watches you desire and enjoy the ride.
  3. The estimate is that 10 out of 11 Rolexes you see are fake. That's a good starting point. They're all fakes until proven otherwise.
  4. Impressive! We all love our all babies equally but I still have to ask: What's your favourite... what gets the most wrist time?
  5. Don't the genuine Frank Mullers use the basic ETA movements too... and then just decorate them a little?
  6. I quit too. No more watches after the next two. Though I might start again if something interesting suddenly pops up.
  7. Joshua, Precious Time, Homer, King, etc. They all sell the same watch. With a little bit of research and some picture comparison in their sales galleries you'll find out what you have to order.
  8. Everything. The genuine dial print is exact, smooth and the SUBMARINER font is different and thicker... hour markers are different too, not so "raised". And "M" and "m" alignment (see the 300m and CHRONOMETER). I can spot a rep TW classic dial when I see one. Genuine:
  9. You will be missed. Thanks for all the great contributions you have done... and come back as soon as you can. Best regards BT
  10. According to Eddie Lee 2893 has been much more problematic than the 2836-2 powered watches he has sold. Yes, I know the 2893 is a "real" GMT movement and praised by Ziggy for good lubrication, etc. And you can get preowned vintage GENUINE Masters for $1.3K if you sacrifice condition a bit. So does it really make any sense to swap a movement and invest around $600 for a rep... which, even after the movement swap won't function like the Rolex caliber 3185??? I have no idea why people think 2836 is unreliable. Mine has been bullet proof for 12 months. Never heard of any complaints, except in those early ones that had a problem of GMT hand not following properly... and in the new (extremely bad) rep version where the GMT hand is correctly placed over the hour hand. And I'm pretty sure these problems were caused by the hand assembly, not the movement itself. This is what EL said, once again (probably the 10th time I repost this): quote--------------------------------------------------> I offer 2836 and 2893 for the gmt... for the record...it does not matter to me which is which...the price is pretty much fixed by the distributor.... 2893...as most know is $$$ movt,...and once it is not in sync,,,hard to fix and $$$ to fix. i have shipped many 2893 ,,,,many....and i also have lots of issue with 2893..and when these come back to me,,,these 2893 just go back to distributor and return back to maker right away as instructed by maker. As once it is reassembled or retouch the movt,,,it has become unstable, exteemely unstable. and so far, i have quite a few return on the 2893...over 20 pcs....even these have been checked prior shipping out...i am sure many in the forum who have the 2893 may discover that gmt hand may slack in time or not sync with time...and fallen into the twilight zone..... but in 2836...i only have 1 issue with not sync with the time. This is what i know,,,and this is the info that i get,,and this is the feedback i have ...and this is the stat. and number does not lie. Regardless of what the eta movt says...or swatch group say....basically i do only believe what my qc lady and my repair mate inform me...and i have no doubt about their capabilities and judgement. I love to sell 2893 more than 2836....but 2836 is a simpler movt... and easier to fix...and from my point of view....on my service side...2836 better for me.... not many will know how to fix 2893 and 2892.,...and what if the local watchsmith screws the movt up...this mean the movt is gone...but 2836 is the work horse of the swatch group and many watchsmiths know this movt inside and out....like a the hook mechanism of victoria secret bras...2893 is the french corset....nice and sexy...but in my opinion has rather dim record.... I do not know much about movt...but i do one thing for sure....i knwo the stat...and i know the record...and i know the detail. If u were to ask me which is better.....benz or toyota....i will tell you ,,,if u have the cash sure...benz is better....but if u dont want to bet for return of service...toyota is one u may want to go with.
  11. Did you already read this review, as others suggested you... in that other thread you started about the same subject? http://www.rwg.cc/members/index.php?showtopic=432
  12. The case, pearl, crystal/mag and crown guards look very good, but the bad dial print gives it away. I hate to give any praise to Idealwatches but this is a good replica, definitely. Better than most.
  13. Very nice and balanced collection. And I agree, quality over quantity has been my motto as well. I just keep watches that I wear.
  14. Haven't been wearing this for a while so I decided to strap it on... for today. and will probably switch to this other chronograph watch later in the weekend:
  15. It's probably an exaggeration to say "buy it now before it's too late" in most cases. But like we said... it's impossible to buy the "old factory" Omegas anymore. Those were superb reps: the white & black Seamaster GMT's, 007 and the 2255.80. Rumor has it that this particular rep factory got busted. For some strange reason only select few dealers can source the MBW's...thus the high price tag on them. Most popular brands like Omegas, PAMs and Rollies usually improve constantly because they're very easy to sell. Some nice brands, like TAG, Zenith, Ebel and IWC are rare to see in the "high end" replica catalogs. If some particular model won't sell they probably just vanish from the market and never reappear... except in cheap faux chrono/quartz incarnations. That's why sometimes it can be wise to buy "before it's too late". Some older models are better and more accurate reps than the ones that's currently available. Like this Seamaster. They still make very good and solid rep version of this watch but I doubt they'll ever make it as good as it once was. The 007 model was even better. It was virtually indistinguishable, even the movement was decorated like the genuine. Maybe the factory that did these just sold all their stock and stopped producing it... and the new ones come from another factory? Just speculation from my part, the dealers can probably answer this better.
  16. I think the recent releases (TAG Link, Breitling Navi, PO 4th and 45mm, VC Overseas, Rlx ExpII, etc. etc.) have been exceptionally good. They are actually so good that these might start SERIOUSLY disturbing Swatch, Rolex, Richmont group... and other high end watch manufacturers very soon. Also the possible changes in China/EU/USA customs policy might affect the rep availability in the future. A bit over a year ago I bought a fully modded 16610 and paid premium for it. It was arguably the best one available. Now we get MUCH more accurate rep (out of box, without any mods) for $150 with ETA movement. Year ago people would have paid $500 for those reps without blinking an eye. Yes, the new TAG Link Chronograph rep is amazing. I suggest you buy it before it's too late. Sometimes we get improved versions, but it rarely happens when the rep is so close as the current one available. Just a while ago there were ZERO 7750-based TAG reps available. You either live with the miniscule flaws for 1/15 of the price or buy the genuine. I mean, how much better we except them to be, realistically? People were happily buying day/date faux chrono versions of Breilting Bentleys just 12 months ago...and now we suddenly need absolute 100% perfection for $250? Come on!!! Reps are usually improving but not always. New versions of Omega Seamaster/007, Rolex GMT Master II and some other models have been worse than the old batch. I don't know how long those MBW vintage models have been in production, but after all these years the rep factories haven't been able to produce better 1680 or DRSD... or something that's even remotely like the MBW in quality. I suspect PO 4th gen becomes similar "cult watch" here, eventually. We have discussed this before... but I agree that we might be living the golden age of reps. That's probably what Neil was trying to tell you (he definitely could use some charming lessons though). By the way, that reminds me... I need to buy a new watch before it's too late. (good excuse for a watch addict)
  17. Breitlings are AWESOME!!!! Enjoy!!!
  18. What are you talking about? There were absolutely ZERO real incidents in the penalty area. The truth is that Germans overdid themselves, they won by penalties against much more talented Argentina team and fought well against the Italy. Nothing to be ashamed about in their performance, imho.
  19. Great looking watch Tommy. Glad to see you here my friend, you should come more often... and post more pictures of your fantastic vintage collection.
  20. Navi for me. Is this watch cool or what? I even managed to find old (but previously unused wrist shot for you).
  21. It's a TW Classic. M and m don't align, bad pearl and those "pimpled" hour markers... and lousy dial. OK rep but nothing to write a song about.
  22. Obviously we Europeans don't celebrate the 4th of July you know.... but it's a good, nice and sunny day here as well. And another good football day. No fireworks for Germany though (I'm afraid). I'm wearing my favourite Rolex today.
  23. 5. OUR WATCHES WEIGH, FEEL, LOOK AND MEASURE EXACTLY TO THAT OF A REAL ROLEX. THEY ARE 100% AUTHENTIC LOOKING.
  24. Ok smartasses... Dunno why the pics aren't showing traditional way. But you can right click the IPB Image -> choose the "show picture" option from your browser and STFU!
