  1. The big question for me is.......would that fix make it water resistant? Would that make the seal around the crystal mold with it or it will just set on whatever was not displaced? Did you do a water test or do you care? ......for the water resistancy of the watch? I do and its a big part of my decision to buy the watch!

    Thanks!

  2. Hello,

I wonder what would you suggest as a nice working chronograph. I saw the Oris Carlos Coste Limited Edition from oris which looks really nice but it also looks very thick ! Can you even put your arm in the air whith that kind of watch on your wrist? :D

So I would definetely like to have some buying suggestions from other members.

    thanks

Oris is GEN! Are you thinking of getting a GEN? There's hundreds of them! It all depends on your taste and your budget! Now if you're talking about reps and plan to use it for timing and such, I won't trust any of them! Most of the REP chrono

watches are just showpiece.......not unless if it has a SWISS 7750 and its derivatives! Some members will probably dis-agree, but it's just my 2 cents! That's how I treat mine and I have several! I have a GEN Breitling, TAG, and Casio for real Chrono use!

  3. Did you check the crystal yet? Check to see if the 3 o'clock side is even with the rest or completely flat.....if not don't get it near water and return it if you dont know how to fix it yourself! This is one major flaw as far as I'm concerned. Also watch out for that GMT hand....mine stopped working since last nite, one day after I got it!

    Good luck!

  4. My two cents:

1.If you paid waterproofing/water resistancy from the dealers, then that means you could swim with it! That's what you're paying for! I know some members will not take the dealers word for anything, but since I paid for it, it better be water resistant or else it goes back and I'm not scared in dunking it in water! Done that several times!

    2. Only the SSD and SFSO are guaranteed by some dealers up to 100M, the new Heritage and GMT IIc are guaranteed to 30M. This is according to there web site and I take there word for it. If it leaks, it goes back. Done that, too! Again, some members will disagree!

    3. I don't trust most Chronos and none screw type crown models, so I don't get them close to water not unless guaranteed or waterproof by a modder or the dealer like my '06 Costeau.

    4. After my 6th collection and got educated here, I started doing my own waterproofing which is basically opening the case and making sure it has a rubber gasket and the tube or crown and greasing these parts and then tightening them after. So far, been 100% on this little project! All the PAMs I have are water resistant except the chrono models like the 253. That one I ordered from the dealer with waterproofing and it leaked after 3 months! Off it went to the dealer! Now it's ok after it came back! BTW: This was my 5th collection!

    Good luck!

Oh, I forgot; go to ofrei.com and get some of the grease and the Ball case opener if you want to do it yourself.

  5. I transplanted one dial and the A7750 from the newer daytona with more correct dial and 28.8k to the 1st generation caseset.. the more correct thinner caseset ...

now this daytona and the vintage Newman Daytona .. both had issues .. the Newman (can never remember the numbers) .. was 60 min fast every 12 hours.. something was crimped in the mainspring area .. and it neede regulating badly .. I was told the lever to regulate on the A7750 is only good for 15 to 20 seconds.. yet when I played with it over the next 2 day's the movement is now running spot on with my blackberry..

with this daytona.. the movement would stop every 2 hours .. after I transplanted it.. what I found was the area next to the mainspring was too tight against the case.. conclusion would be that the defect could be poor asembly around the mainspring.. or poor quality in build around that area, it was the same problem with the Newman.. but that has been running great..(knock on wood).. but it's been running fine since then..

Glad to hear that.....gud for ya brah! I always love Daytonas and I'd love to get one of those newer ones, but that Sec @6 scares the hell out of me! Hopefully they'll build a better one!

  6. Just browsing a few sites and I came across this...

Mile Miglia GMT Chrono SS White Asia 21J

This is one of my favorite watches and the 7750 version was one i dreamt of having. Since this one is 1/3rd of the price almost, I am very tempted to say the least.

Josh says its similar to the 7750 case and bracelet and I couldn't care less about the chronos at this price. What do you think the quality is like?

I do have another cheap rep though which is a quartz tag heuer link which is pretty poor to be honest and I wouldn't want to make the same mistake again!!!!!!!!!

I have also heard some Chopards have very loud rotors though

Has anyone had any experiences with chopard 21j's or this watch in particular?

    thanks in advance.

Looks nice, and YES...I have the MM XL with Asian 21J and the rotor sounds like a lawn mower! But a little grease willfix it! But, why not get the 7750 version,,,,more reliable!

  7. Yes, the polling makes you vote for both IHS and CHS.

Have an asian IHS and a swiss IHS. Both keep good time, but the gmt hands completely stopped working, and take on water like the titanic.

Did you check if u have the protruding crystal at 3?

    Here's my info:

    Rec. 7/1/08

    Asian IHS/WHS!

Also REP the TITANIC! and it did!

Edited for an update: Now I could confirm that the water did not penetrate the movement......it still runs and on time with my Blackberry Curve! The only thing I noticed is

the GMT Hand STOPPED! This is not good!!!

  8. I could get the gen for $650 + tax!

    Hey Guys,

I recently saw a Breitling SupoerOcean Heritage 46 with the Breitling Ocean Classic Mesh Bracelet.

    Man It was awesome.

where can I find either a good Rep of this bracelet or a cheap Gen?

I checked with the Dealer and they said $715.00 for the Gen!

Considering that I bought the Watch for $200 I'm not really intrigued by that price!

    Can anyone help me out?

    thanks

  9. Also, it was quite evident with the insert out that the crystal is not set correctly. SO BE CAREFULL AROUND WATER until you get it set properly. I would think that if we can figure out how to get the bezel off, resetting the crystal shouldnt be difficult.

Thank you, and good advice re: keeping it away from water. I had water get into the watch twice from simple stuff like washing my hands and spraying some glass cleaner on the crystal. It is very clear to me now that the water came in on the 3:00 side of the crystal. I can't tell you how long it was bothering me that I couldn't figure it out.

Anything is possible, but I think it is alot more likely that moisture entered your case through the crown/tube or thereabouts. The crystals on these watches may not be installed perfectly, but unless your crystal is significantly higher on 1 side than the other (the height difference when I view my crystal from the side is barely perceptible), I seriously doubt that is the source of the leakage. But it is always best to keep any watch that has not been recently pressure tested away from all moisture.

Righting it is probably not going to seal a leaky case. More likely, I would think that either the crystal was installed without a gasket or sealant (you will need to remove the crystal & apply sealant) or you have a leaking crown/tube/caseback gasket or an improperly installed crown tube, which is a frequent source of moisture entering a rep watch.

I'm pretty sure it's coming from the improperly setted crystal! I have checked the caseback, tube gasket and crown and greased them on mine and it still leaked and

the moisture and water droplets are just present on the crystal, rehaut and dial!

I warned my my dealer about this major flaw and he pulled the item from his web site. I guess he's returning his stock to the manufacturer or having his watchsmith

    QC and fix the problem!

  10. Greetings guys,

I just got my Superocean Heritage, and I'm contemplating putting a 12 strap on it. But I can't see the springbars. How do I access them so I can take off the strap?

    Thanks guys :)

First, what's a 12 strap??? Is that a new brand? Just curious! I have swapped about 3 straps already on mine, and it's a breeze. Using your springbar tool, just push

on the edge of the leather strap and you should see the groove on the sringbar, then just slide the tool on it and slide it towards you while applying a gentle downward

pressure! That should do it! Make sure that you do this from the back/bottom side to avoid scratching the top!

    Good luck!

  11. Well you need to pay the first $30 to get the watch, right? ;)

I have been told by all dealers to use registered mail to send back faulty watches to China, so that is going to cost about $10. Plus no dealer I use charges me $30 to ship the repaired/replacement watch back to me....

So your $90 is not quite what I have experienced at least :p

I am out of pocket $10 when I ship a faulty watch back. Aside from the added annoyance of having to do so in the first place!

    Cheers! B)

I always send it registered and it comes out to about $16.50! So that's how much it cost me to get a replacement, but I get something that should be much better than the

first one! I always request a double QC to avoid anymore frustrations and so the replacements I've gotten are trouble free!
