  1. hellow fellow RWG members recently installed a gen crown tube & gen crown . for those of you who read that tread , saw that a small gap between the new crown & case remained . i used the same stem with the new set up .. i noticed that my eta sub stopped 2 times in 24 hours i had that watch for years & worked excellent , so i know it was something that had to do with my recent mod . if the old stem was to short for the new set up , could that affect the watch in any way ? can that stop the watch from working properly ? any ideas on what could be the problem ? i have new gen eta stems i can replace the stem if thats the problem . the new crown appears to screw in at the power reserve position .. thanx guys any help is greatly apreciated
  2. UBI you & tribal gots to have the best rolex collection on the forum i didnt know that the ETA 2846 could be a direct swap for eta 2826 hmmmmmmmmmm maybe that will be my next project
  3. hey TRIBAL awsome ! i like !!!! is it a TWB case ? cause you had to retap ? & how many subs do you have in your collection ? take care & be well .... p.s. thats smart of you to not do mods for $$$ from what i read that has to be a pain in the [censored] dealing with customers whom are impatient .. take care my friend awsome job !
  4. THANX for all your help guys ., this was one fun project . & the tip about useing a hand file to shape the crown guards is a great idea i think i can handle that take care & be well everyone ..
  5. THANX TRIBAL you mod monsters are awsome ! iv learned alot from you guys !

  9. hey UBI dont forget to put me down for 1 7mm gen rolex crown whenever you score another bunch i have another eta sub that i bought of a member thats needs a lil tlc .. i belive that this next sub will be easier to mod cause the crown guards are thinner than the one i did today .. take care & be well .
  10. i thought backing out the crown tubes where going to be a pian in the [censored] , but i 1st heated the tube up with a hiar dryer & it came out fairly easy .. that file works great too ! i did not have the extra $$$$$$ to spend on a rolex tube remover ..
  11. yesssssssssssssssssssssssssssss the keyless works was fine , the stem sliped right in man i was scared .. heres the the finished product not bad for my 1st sub mod . i know the gap between the crown & case dont look 2 kosher but i can live with it untill i gather enuff courage to tackle the trimming of the crown guards .. im just glad that i water proofed it pretty well , that 3m stuff is awsome ! thanx every one for there help ..
  12. hellow my fellow RWG members , iv been gathering some gen rolex parts from the bay to attempt my 1st sub mod project after studying UBI'S & TRIBALS MOD SKILLS . im a total amature but love the chalenge .. so here we go . AFTER REMOVEING THE MOVEMENT i then removed the rep crown tube with this inexpensive file tool that i bought at my local 99 cent store i heated the rep crown tube to soften any old glue & it came out fairly easy .. i then applied some 3m super glue on the new gen 7mm rolex crown tube . this glue works great with , inserts , crown tubes & glueing the new crown to the stem & its water proof . here is the gen 7mm crown tube the new gen crown tube & crown installed due to the size of the crown guards of the old solid end link eta subs from pual , you see that small gap between the crown & case ( later on i must learn a sinple tech to file down the inside of the crown guards in order for a proper fit .. the new crown tube installed i bought this used gen sub crown on ebay for $25 could not find a new one ..its slightly worn now it was kinda easy but ! i have 2 concearns . 1 is that due to the slight gap between the crown & case the stem will be a bit short ( ill have to install the movement to find out ) . 2- when i removed the stem useing a 1.2mm screwdriver i heard a click i think thats indicating that the stem release button was sunk into the movement in not about that ima gonna need some help from you guys .. how can i tell if the stem release button was sunk into the movement ? heres a pic of the movement finally i installed the case back without the movement & placed the watch in about 2 feet of water for about 1 hour & came out bone dry .. i will keep you guys posted once i install the movement ( thats pending the out come of that dam stem release button on the eta 28xx series movements . does any 1 know if eta made a special tool for the removal of the stem ? instead of useing a screwdriver ? take care & be well every one ..
