I am genuinely enjoying reading the replies to this thread. I have made absolutely no progress in deciding whether or not to wear my watch to bed, but who cares? I'm entertained! Such a great forum hahaha
Welcome to the somewhat weird humour of RWG.
Personally the only times I wear a watch to bed is after a big night out on the town or when I'm in somewhere that's scarily dingy and I'm scared for my watch's safety (and my own a close second
)

This has to be a troll. People don't talk like that.
who in their right mind is scared of getting raped for wearing a nice watch? I'm a weedy guy myself and often go out with an explorer on my wrist. I don't flash it around and wear it like any other watch and people notice it just about as much as my seiko. -
Many of the lady PP models are quartz. Matter of fact, both gents and ladies genuine PP used to have Eta quartz movements in them. Do not know what they use now. Probably like cartier, they used to have quartz Etas in them but now they have $300 to $500 'in house' cartier/ebel movements.
I stand corrected Re: PP and quartz I thought they hadn't ventured into it but I was wrong.
-
You ma'am have a fake patek, I guessed from the face and it was confirmed by the fact that it's a quartz movement.

You are hilarious mate.. I read many of your posts, and none were like this.
Most were a lot more somber and less...gruesome in nature. Look what kingfrog turned us into.
Not sure if he's bringing out the good or bad in me, or it could be that I'm doing amateur photoshopping of memes at 2 in the morning.

True but I also like wear a flashy watch for example a rose gold 44 Hublot Big Bang
I only wear my S5 in the weekend, when I'm at home or just chilling or when I'm working late at home. It's just so confortable
Different strokes for different folks I guess.

The 1016 is also a "small" watch which is, like the Seiko 5, really confortable to wear! I had a Tudor Ranger, I think it's the same size as the 1016
I love the smaller watches (1016 is 36mm and seiko 5 is 38mm) they fit easily under a cuff and can be worn subtly without looking flashy.
-
My Seiko 5 was produced in May 1983 and it still runs very strong. It's just so confortable to wear, to be honest; I wear her every week
I wear my seiko 5 when I want a gen watch and my 1016 when I'm fine with a rep.

I think this guy has truly outstayed his welcome. He is here to do nothing but instigate argument and hatred. If he wishes to discuss gen watches and hate rep watches then he should head over to WUS, which I find has far fewer experts of horology than here. Here a large amount of the population can pull apart a watch it build one from parts, something that couldn't be said about a large amount of WUS members.

I was looking for a Rep of the Breitling blue face avenger Chrono when I read the 7750 movements are hit and miss and have specific "rules" not to bust the movement. At over $350 I was not going to roll the dice. So I Then I was looking for a gen but decided I did not want o spend thousands on another watch (one is enough) So I found this which looks like the Breitling I wanted. CITIZEN BL5370-51L ECO-DRIVE STAINLESS STEEL
Not a dead ringer but close enough in style for $230 Pus a $29 Blue Leather deployment band. $230 does not even buy me a Bretiling REP of a watch like this. Sometimes one has to choose quality over Brand trade marking. I think having one great rep and the best value (Rolex) is enough. Although I do like my Hulblot Rep for $160. Have not found a look a like in the Citizen/Seiko basket that looks close
The problem with even comparing the Eco-drive to a breitling rep is that the movements are in completely different fields and comparing a glorified quartz movement to a mechanical movement is completely apples and oranges.

They have the Seiko 7S26 movement in. This dated back to the seventies and is fantastic movement, accurate, robust and easy to service. God for anywhere between 5-10 years. Problem being that it will cost you twice as much for a service than the watch cost.
Some will say "that's cool I will just bin it and buy another" but I tend to become attached to my watches
Anyway, you can't go wrong with one of these.
The alternative could be just buying a new watch and finding somewhat who could do a direct movement swap, or do it yourself. Same watch, different heart.
-
The problem comes when one takes them seriously.
Reminds me of the conspiracy nut that was here recently, made for hours of humour. In a thread like this it's easy to ridicule but there are other threads he's popped up in and just destroyed a good thread.

+1 this is a good start, decent quality and selection. If watchmaking becomes more that a passing interest you can upgrade your tools a bit at a time but in the meantime you'll have some good tools to start with.
I like the set as it has everything that I would need and it makes it simple to do any job.

Nah, We don't want to ban him. we need "useful idiots" like him around if nothing else for their entertainment value
Haha. Nothing wrong with that. Idiotic comic relief is needed

An absolutely hilarious thread. There are some brilliant people on this forum from all walks of life bound by a love of watches, be they rep of gens that cost more than I could ever fathom spending on a watch. I personally very much look forward to the ban hammer falling on king

Tnx
Lugs to lugs it is 44+mm
Strap size 18mm
Bezel is 40mm
Case comprehending CG is 42.5mm
Movement is I think 19.8kBPH handwind with no hack second and no quick date set.
And case is plated brass with plexy.
thanks for the help mate, can't wait to build myself one

Hey Gentle,
Love how the build came together. Just wondering, what's the diameter of the vostok case? -
Link's dead for me too

Breitlings seem to be the worst reps. Too much going on to replicate. ...maybe a three hand Super Ocean 42. But they are cheap enough to buy new. When REP price start reaching into the $400s I think it's money wasted. It is not like they have guarentees or are water resistant out of the box. I think I can get a great EcoDrive or Seiko for that kind of bread. I paid $160 for a rep Date Sub and liked it enough to buy the real thing without the date. I would not have paid more than $200 for that watch..
I am seeing $700 reps....That is just nuts considering the QC is just not there to my standards.
Mate with all due respect you probably don't belong here. If you think that all of our reps are sh!t then fantastic, enjoy your gen seiko watches. Reps have a market and you're obviously not part of it. When new rep prices go into the $400 with an asian movement I tend to agree with you, but my 1016 build would be over $400 slightly, is waterproof and runs a genuine ETA 2824-2 and will run for ages. It's all about getting what you pay for.
To the OP, that rep is horrible and when it gets to that price, for that watch, it's not at all on the table.

Gorgeous watch, What're the parts?

I have a pretty bland taste in watches. I like the classics and simplicity is key for me. I have a feeling that watches like this would appeal more to the aesthetics of the Hublot or AP crowd.
