  1. Yea, it's got a small seconds hand. I was thinking that it probably looked smooth either way. I guess it's really not worth $70 more for the faster beat rate. Here's the watch:
  2. I need some help/advice. I'm looking at two models of the PAM 177 from trustytime, they are seemingly identical but one has a Unitas 18,800bph movement and the other has a 21,600bph Unitas movement. The 21,600 is $70 more than the other. Is it worth the money to get the high beat movement? Thanks!
  3. I looked again, and maybe you're right. It's probably the shadow, but I thought it looked a hair to the left to me at first. As for the gen, I can understand needing it to dive. I'd love a gen PO, and maybe I will get one someday. But I thought I try out a good rep first.
  4. Haha... I think we're all missing the most important question. How do they taste?
  5. Mike, I love that gif in your sig man. I find myself staring at it for minutes at a time!
  6. I love the PO's too. I ordered the 42mm, orange bezel, non-chrono from trusty last week. I'll do a full review when I get it. I decided on the 42mm because I have a 7" wrist and thought the 45mm version might look off (although I like the wider bezel grooves on the 45mm version much better than the smaller ones on the 42mm). Also, I like the way the face of some of the chrono's look, but very rarely, if ever, have I needed to time something. And if I did, I would want to use my G-Shock, which would time it precisely down to the 100th of a second while telling me when high tide was, what phase the moon was in, what time it was in Kandahar, and if I am in daylight saving time, all while syncing to the atomic clock signal to update the exact time. I'm just messing around, but I have 6 chronograph watches that I love, but have never once used the chronograph feature on a single one of them.
  7. I'm not as experienced as many of the other posters here, but I've spent a lot of time analyzing gens and reps recently. Even in the best reps, I can see the very subtle differences and this watch you have looks gen to me with the exception of the pearl being ever so slightly misaligned. Well, the mismatch in numbers would also concern me, but as far as the watch goes it looks pretty legit. But that being said...this whole discussion is why I decided to buy a rep and not the gen. I had the option of 1) paying $4500 at the AD for the real PO that would be beautiful and perfect, and most likely last for years with the proper care and upkeep (expensive as it may be); or 2) pay $343 for a rep that looks, feels and works pretty damn close to the way the $4500 version does. So much so that threads like this exist to attempt to validate the legitimacy of a gen purchase. I mean for less than the cost of a service on the gen version of this watch, I can buy a new rep. And since there are so few people (including "experts") who can distinguish between the two watches, I have to ask, where is the value in the additional $4157 spent on the gen? I'm not trying to be belligerent, I'd really like to know.
  8. Fantastic videos! Thanks for linking them. Like everyone else, I can't get over the eggs. Are real eggs so expensive that the fake egg market is that lucrative? Maybe eggs are harder to come by in other countries, but in the US the average price of a dozen eggs is around $2. That's $0.16 per egg. It seems like producing a fake egg would cost more than that. And even if it's cheaper, how much cheaper could it be? What really scared me was the fake condoms!!!
  9. Yes, you're probably right about the 117. As you can see from my PS, I drank quite a bit last night. What I meant to type was PAM 177! Sorry for the confusion!
  10. Haha... wow! Thanks for that reply. That is what I love about this forum, the wall of info and opinion. I'm watching all the vids in your signature right now. They're great!
  11. Ok, sorry... I've been posting a lot lately on the PAM's, but I really respect the opinions I've gotten on this forum and I need to know what you guys think of the 117. I like the looks of it and I've been wanting to buy one. But I want to make sure I'm getting the right PAM. I thought I liked the look of the ceramic case of some of the other models, but the titanium of the 117 has really caught my eye. I think I've decided on the PAM 117. It comes with the rubber strap which I do like, but I will probably get a nice black suede band that I found somewhere else to put on it. It has the C1+C3 superluminova, which they say is awesome (is it?). And the exhibition back is an absolute must for me with this watch (not really sure why). Plus I think the movement on this watch looks really sharp. So. What do you think? I mean there's something about the Panerai that moves me. It's weird.. I don't like a lot of them. But the ones I do like, I like a lot. I've only been at this for a few weeks, so I really do appreciate your opinions. The power of forums is awesome! Thanks in advance! P.S. I've been drinking a lot tonight.
  12. Good point, thanks. Yea, I've noticed photos of some of the hand wounds look really nice. You got any recommendations of any of those with a exhibition back? I also like the ceramic or pvd look if you know of any of those.
  13. I like the 320 a lot. Thanks for the advice!
  14. Not as glad as I am that I found you!
  15. Anyone have a good suggestion for a high-quality PAM rep that is auto with an exhibition back? Thanks in advance!
  16. Not sure what you're talking about poor photos, I think they look great. And wow, what a nice looking rep. I wasn't even considering one of these until I read this post. I just ordered a 42mm Planet Ocean. Once it comes in I'm ordering two more watches...this may be one of them now! Thanks for the review..
  17. Is it just the crown that has the purple tinge to it? It's hard to see at all in the photos, but as long as it's not the case, I don't think I'd mind. I love the looks of the watch, and the band is really cool. I think it's going to be the next one I get... Thanks for all the replies!
  18. Yes, that's correct. Is that not good? The listing reads: Stainless Steel 316L, Thick DLC Brown Coating... Swiss Standards
  19. Hi guys, I'm new to this forum and was just wondering if anyone had any experience with the PAM 386M? I've seen it and really like the looks of it in the photos, but would feel much better if someone actually had one or knew someone who did. I love the looks of this watch and for $368 I'm guessing (hoping) it's a quality rep. Thanks in advance..
  20. Yes! That's the one. Is this the best site for reps? Thanks so much!
  21. I'm new to the forum and wanted to say hi to everyone. I've been searching for the Omega Planet Ocean with the orange bezel and am trying to find a list of trusted sellers. I keep seeing references to a list of them, but for the life of me can't seem to find it. Can someone point me in the right direction? Thanks!
