  1. Here are some case pics of the new Avenger! Sorry, cant redirect these, but here's the link. http://repgeek.com/showpost.php?p=325280&postcount=39
  2. I believe the V2 (Angus) model will also be available from Josh.
  3. One major "tell" on this one. Notice the 60 on the rehaut instert.... oops!
  4. Can't wait to see the Skyland bracelet. I think that will be my next rep!
  5. First J&A release a decent Skyland Then Angus debuts a better Skyland Tomorrow, the Ultimate Super Avenger http://www.puretimewatch.com/index.php?productID=468 Breitling seems to me the new Panerai of the rep world!
  6. Have to admit, Angus' version looks about perfect. Well done!
  7. "Hardly a veiled rumor"? What do we know about this watch? Nothing! but from Angus' creative writing "from the maker of", "Ultimate", etc, he is giving the impression that his version will be better. He is actually telling people not to buy the current version. IMO, that is just total BS. This watch may be good, it may not, but Angus has no right to try and sabotage J&As watch sales, when he has absolutely nothing to offer.
  8. No offense her PZ. BTW, I have to say that I think Angus' attempt to sabotage J&As sales with nothing but veiled rumors of an "Ultimate" version is very underhanded indeed. He got beaten to the table with this one, and is simply trying to stop the bleeding. If he wanted to post dial or case pics of his version, that would be fine, but to try and convince people to hold off on this long anticipated rep is a slimly move IMO.
  9. BTW, some questions answered by Josh this morning... Is the watch actually 44mm? The Genuine is 45mm, and as you used a gen to produce this, I would figure that the rep would be 45mm as well. Measurement differs from people to people ...My measure is the bezel diameter.. This is correct as per the genuine. Are the fine lines reproduced on the left side of each subdial? I can't see them in your pics (too dark). Yes Does the bezel click 120 times? Yes Will the graphite dial be available at some point? Yes.. Probably later.
  10. We'll have to wait and see. One thing thats likely is that this new version will not have the correct datefont, as from what I understand, they were specific to one factory. Who knows though, lets hope for perfection!
  11. Exactly where did he say that? He didn't! In fact PT stated that he had no idea what the differences would be.
  12. I hear ya. The Skyland is so similar to my Chrono Avenger, but I liked the weight of it on the bracelet. Of course it'll be another few months til that comes out
  13. This is a cheap quartz rep of the Automatic 7750 version. Funnily enough there is actually a quartz model of the Carerra that has already been repped. That one costs more than the 7750 model
  14. And while we are on the subject of the lume dots, here is my theory as to why they did this. In studying the dots on my CA I've always marveled at how perfectly spherical these dots are. Each one appears to be identical in size as well. Am I to believe that this masterful application of lume was done my the same twits that couldn't equally fill the hour markers on the SFSO? I theorize that the dots are actually manufactured half spheres that are applied to the dial as hardened pieces, not as a liquid. On the gen you will notice that the lume dot at the 3:00 marker is about half the size of the other 10, so a full dot would not fit. Rather than go through the expense of trying to conventionally lume that one dot and the 12:00 marker, they just decided to use a half dot, and a full dot on the 12.
  15. Hey Mickey, regarding that half lume dot, I was looking at my chrono avenger yesterday and those dots are small. Really, I have good eyes and I couldn't tell if mine was whole, or partially cut off by the date window. I really don't think this will be as much of an issue as some think it is. @Lan - I think its a good thing to support your favorite dealer, but you can't simply trash everybody else and what they do because of it. As you know I've had my issues with J&A, but that was in the past and IMO the have made great steps forward. I judge every watch as I see it, and not by who it comes from.
  16. I don't mind people chatting about flaws. Speculating that these particular dealers purposely build in flaws simply to profit is just ridiculous however. Look, one of the most successful reps ever, the UPO, has two glaring flaws, much worse than the Skyland IMO, but people were happy. I get the feeling that there are a lot of anti cartel people, who will criticize this watch no matter how good it is. If Angus had commissioned this watch, maybe it would be better, maybe it wouldn't. But the simple fact is that he didn't bring this one to market. Josh and Andrew did, and I think they should be commended for that. They also brought us a great Heritage model, much nicer than what was previously available. They have strived to ensure that their Breits have double AR and correct date fonts, which no other dealer seemed to care about. As a Breitling fan, I'll say that the Skyland is really a step forward!
  17. Geez guys, why are you trying to create some kind of scandal out of this? The thought that J&A are trying to pass off a recycled Chrono Avenger as the new Skyland is ridiculous. Firstly, if they had used the Avenger case, don't you think this would have been ready months ago? Secondly, the SS Avenger was 43mm, the Skyland is 44mm, and the gen is 45mm. Thirdly, pictures don't lie. Look at the shape around the crown, sort of a rounded, smooth edge... Now look at the hard edges around the Skyland crown. Definitely different... Also, the existing Chrono Avenger Pearl is perfect. Why would they go through the expense of producing a less accurate pearl? My guess is that the Skyland is produced in a different factory altogether. As for the 44mm dimension? LOL, I remember when the Navitimer was released. Every dealer had the same watch, but the measurements ranged from 40mm to 43mm. My guess is that the half lume dot will be unnoticeable to the naked eye (they are pretty [censored] small) and will likely be easily fixable with a trip to The Zigmeister. Lets face it, the lume on most Breit reps has sucked anyway. So if you weren't going to buy this one in the first place, don't come here and [censored] about these minor flaws and try and promote your own agendas. Go buy the Skyland from Angus if that will make you happier
  18. Omega Seamaster Pro Chronograph The Omega Seamaster Pro Chronograph Pro Chronograph was released more than a year ago and a lot has been written about it since then. Personally I have never been a big fan of the SMP line as I found them to be too thin, too dark and generally just bland looking. I think it is a classic design, just somewhat dated. The SMP Chrono on the other hand gives an old design a modern day appeal. From the day this rep was released it has been on my list of “must haves”. So, when a local member posted one for sale at a good price recently, I jumped at it. My first impression of the SMP chrono was that it had a quality feel to it. It is heavy, but not overly heavy. This can be attributed to the fact that it is only 41.5 mm across the dial, small by today’s standards, but it makes the watch feel even thicker than it is. The bezel is nice and snug, not as tight as the UPO, but much easier to turn and with no slop whatsoever. It has 120 clicks and mine came with a perfectly aligned insert. Newcomers may not be aware that many of these watches come with the insert badly misaligned. Not that the pearl doesn’t sit properly at the 12:00 marker, but that the numbers on the insert didn’t line up with the pointy parts of the bezel, and actually faced the flat sections of the bezel. This can be a problem as the bezel on this watch is hard to remove without destroying it, and the glue on some versions was too good to use the “heat and twist” method. Look at the difference in the insert alignment The insert itself is a deep blue that mimics the gen nicely. However, the pearl is slightly too large and may be sitting a hair too low. Like the UPO the pearl touches the edge of the triangle shaped marker, and is probably the biggest tell on the watch. Unlike my UPOs the pearl arrived nicely installed. It sits level and the pearl crystal is installed properly. The pearl should not touch the edges of the triangle The dial on the watch features the classic SMP “wave” pattern printed on a deep blue face. I was impressed with this aspect of the dial as a lot of the SMP reps that I have seen seem to have had a subdued version of this detail. The SMP Chrono’s pattern is very nicely defined and on par with the gen. The markings are crisp and look accurate as well. The subdials are circled by fine chrome rings that, in my opinion, add dimension to an otherwise dark and dull dial. The chapter ring features fluorescent red, triangular shaped markers that add much needed color to the face of the watch. The tips of the subdial hands and second hand should match this fluorescent red color but are unfortunately more of an orange color. (I have read that some gens came with the same orange colored hands as the rep, but the gen that I personally compared my rep to definitely had florescent red hands) Otherwise the hands look pretty good when compared to the gen. Notice the Orange hands and bright red markers All in all, the added color and sparkle on the dial makes the SMP Chrono much more exciting than its bland looking little brother. Omega has taken this one step further with the new model adding a polished steel logo and lettering, changing “Seamaster” from white to red, and adding a chromed outline to the lume markers. It looks beautiful now and very current. Hopefully rep makers will produce a version with this new updated dial. The newly designed SMP Chrono. Perfection! The Crystal is sapphire and shows no distortion from even the most acute angles, but it suffers from its lack of AR. The newest gen is coated on the inside only but the old version that our rep was modeled on had no AR at all. I feel this watch would benefit greatly by a double coating of quality AR. The dark blue dial and depth of the face make this watch appear very dark and seems to amplify any reflection. The caseback, although accurate, has a couple of weak points. The wave pattern does not seem to be shaped as nicely as the gen, and the sea monster does not look as polished on the rep. The five holes used for the Omega caseback opener appear to be slightly smaller than the original and I doubt that the actual tool would fit. The lug at 7:00 is stamped with a non-unique serial number. Caseback comparison The crown, pushers and He valve are all reproduced accurately. The crown on mine screws down nicely with about five full and solid turns. Unfortunately some owners haven’t had the same luck, as the internally threaded crown/tube assembly has been known to strip very easily. I don’t think it is as bad as with the UPO, but still something to look out for nonetheless. The polished pushers feature a faux locking collar that again adds some much needed sparkle to the outside of the case. There is no pusher locking mechanism on the gen either. The He valve screws down nicely and seems to stay tight. CGs, Crown and Pushers are close to perfect The bracelet is attractive and comfortable. Although the gen is held together with pins and the rep uses screws, I feel that this flaw is acceptable as screws are simply easier to work with. The tiny recessed screw heads are impossible to see when on the wrist anyway. I can’t really comment on the ease of adjustment, as mine just happened to come from its previous owner, adjusted perfectly to my wrist. One thing that worries me is the mix of brushed and polished surfaces. I am constantly refinishing my bracelets to keep them looking perfect, and it may be a challenge to keep the shiny parts shiny, while maintaining the brushed surface on the other pieces. Time will tell! The clasp is nice and solid with nicely engraved markings. From what I can see they are all fairly accurate, but there appear to be ever so light differences in logo and fonts. The clasp closes nicely with no gaps and the diver’s extension is nice and tight. Notice the Omega logo and how low the “S” in Seamaster sits. The SMP Chrono rep is powered by the Asian 7750 beating at 28k. This is a copy of the ETA 7750 that powers the genuine. Mine seems to be keeping excellent time but the power reserve seems to be lacking at about 24 hours. The rotor on this one seems to be fairly quite as well. The rep uses a steel movement holder and is protected by an anti-magnetic cover. Overall I am very satisfied with this rep. The wrongly colored hands and a fleck of dust on the inside of the crystal are my only complaints. Any of my other gripes about this watch are more shortcomings of the genuine watch, than mistakes in replication. This was a very difficult review to put together, simply because it was so hard to distinguish between replica and genuine photos. True, the pearl position is a dead giveaway, but as the insert can easily be replaced with a real one, it would be almost impossible to be sure, without detailed pics of the bracelet. IMO this can only be a good thing!
  19. Very nice choices. Welcome to the club
  20. I've got the 7750 version of this watch. Like you say, a couple of flaws but a nice watch nonetheless!
  21. I'm not even sure if I'd call this 1 to 1. It seems to be 1mm smaller than the gen, so I'm not sure that any gen pieces would fit on this one.
  22. Sorry Sam, the dials are different sizes. Easiest way to tell is by the position of the date window.
  23. Nice looking watch, I wonder if the black lume actually glows? I still prefer the light grey SS version of this watch though.
