  5. Thank you experts for the suggestions... It is on its way to get its CG trimmed...any suggestion for the pearl...basically there is no pearl on it...its just flat... but the previous owner sent along what he described as 2 NOS pearl...they essentually look like plugs...not sure what to do with them...
  6. Although I've been collecting for a while I have no clue when it comes to vintage MBW rollies... I recently picked up this piece...it came in parts and I had my watch guy put it all together... -supposedly gen tropic crystal -gen crown/aftermarket tube What does it need? Does it even look good? I need some expert eyes...
  7. I was involved in a similar situation on another forum. Basically, the guy bought an Angus 111e from another forum member, and then turned around and tried to sell it for $625, which a noob bought. He then eloquently listed 'all the mods', which were just standard things on an angus 'ultimate', pin fix (due to the thinner dial), flush cg pin, etc, NO SUPERLUME or anything else Seeing that it only had the standard stuff, I simply asked the seller to validate his price. I got slammed by some members screaming about allowing 'fair markets' dictate the price & that I'm not responsible for noob's ignorance and they should do the research before hand, etc...the normal arguments... In the end, he validated it by saying that he was throwing in 2 straps (rep straps by the way)...later on in the thread the original owner of the watch piped in and said he sold it for $350 with 2 nice straps and thats when the sh** hit the fan...The noob buyer asked for a refund, etc... NOW this is NOT completely parallel to Chad's situation because Chad is not GROSSLY overpricing....but it is similar in that Mickey's first post was just to validate Chad's pricing rationale. I really think it got waaaay out of hand and a bit emotional, but I don't see anything wrong by posting in a sale's thread and commenting on price AS LONG AS ITS DONE AMICABLY and a tool to educate anyone that is not so well versed in the pricing of a particular watch. I know Chad is a nice guy because we communicate outside the forum (plus he's like my neighbor) and his intention wasn't to gouge anyone. I think he saw UB7 sell his HBB at a premium price and understandably wanted the most for his watch. I do believe he felt his logic was fair. I just think in this particular situation, things flared up out of control. I think if you're going to sell a used watch for 'more' than its suppose to be, you need to be diligent in stating why.

What Asad did to modify the dial is simply stunning... Well done dude!

Don't I feel like a heel giving up that dial to you!!! Just kidding...I'm glad it went to good use and you were able to create the 'perfect' 009. For everyone's info, this is an old school rep dial. Its from my 112. I've had it for several years, in my parts box, hoping to finish a 009 or 176 project. Those projects never materialized and so I traded my 112 to Asad, and he took it to a new level. Simply amazing.
  12. I would love to do an ETA swap. Is The Zigmeister booked or is there a way to make an appt with him? I've noticed his PM is off until May 1.
  13. Great watches guys! Lets see who else got a good deal...
  14. I believe its 42mm....with single sided AR...purplish in the sunlight...
  15. I like the little details...like the 'tuning fork' symbol on the end of the long chrono needle
  16. Here is some eyecandy. Its an Accutron Gemini Chrono (Valjoux 7750). Retails for about $1100. You can find them brand new for $600++ thru various online deals. I think it would be nice if others would post some of their GENS that they got a good deal on. It may give other members some watch ideas. So all you Hamilton Khaki Chrono owners with ETA 7750 mvmts, start posting pics....
  17. @jake: wonderful little adventure! to everyone...this thread was a great read and now turned onto this brand...don't know if i should thank ya or hate ya...
  18. my guy here in chinatown does everything for $15. so if your chinatown has an area that sells reps, most likely there will be a cheap watchsmith that is well versed in ETA based watches... or...u could do it urself? not too difficult...but without the right tools and a good workspace probably not worth trying... if ur going to a non-chinatown type watchsmith...they'll charge you based on time...so if they are $50/hour...maybe they charge you $25 for half hr labor?
  19. ugh...have u considered a 111 sausage dial instead...i will never get over the font issues of our rep sandwich dials... but if ur going to go for a H-series...angus's 111h will hold you over... how much is it nowadays? $238 shipped? with swan neck/dagger regulator/no pin issue/nice CG w. flat lever pin i don't see much sense in TWP's $415 version...its not like your font is getting any better...plus he's had some issues delivering...
  20. OK....drumroll please... -SMP: Gen, I purchased it back in 2001/2002 -PO: 42 mm rep, with gen dial, gen hands, gen springbars, gen rubber strap (not shown), and gen pearl. Everyone says the pearl is too big...that isn't so...its that the rep triangle is too small...so its a wonderful gen pearl on an inaccurate bezel insert. Thanks for the wonderful responses! Its great to see a forum where its members are so active!
  21. @triple: hahahaha...i had to. did u sell the Tag? If not I would strongly suggest linking Pix's review of that watch or using his pictures...I've been searching around and I can't find my original pics...
  22. @ LR...I'll reveal in a couple of hours....lets see if the US morning crew will chime in...
