  1. I guess I'll have to flame you too. I try to buy pams that look as little like a real pam as possible. My goal is to find a pam 90 that looks like a $15 casio calculator watch. In pink.
  2. his fingers are still locked up after the 2 hour "four in the stink" scene.
  3. Porn with a plot defeats it's purpose.
  4. I would love one of them. It's a lot nicer looking than the old SLR: http://www.swissmade.hu/tagheuerslrchronog.jpg
  5. ebay lets as much slide as possible. the higher the reps sell for the higher their profit. ultimately this ends up hurting ebay's reputation. If they don't care, you shouldn't either.
  6. if it was a watch I really wanted, I guess 1900 bucks isn't so bad. Beats getting a mortage on the house for the real thing. but I don't like that watch, so I wouldn't unless the price was under $300.
  7. That's all too true. And I have a solution. If you create an account on ircimages.com you'll see what I mean (bottom of the page)
  8. bres3000, There was nothing wrong with what he wrote. In fact, what FORD, Toyota, etc. put on TV ads far exceeds what EL said. I guess you don't get out much...

    mine stands for mysql.
  10. I say let the dealers do as they wish. There's no reason for them to be forced to post prices. It would be convient for sure, but shouldn't be a requirement.
  11. Well, almost as cool as this one.
  12. They are screws. the only omega I own that has pins is the speedmaster.
  13. Very good. Most jewlery shops sell items for double what they pay for it, so the pricing isn't suprising. Unfortunately for me, that price range is close to what it'll cost for a turbo kit installed on my RX-8, so it's not in my future
  14. who did you get it from? As I said before, I got to see another pam and had the same feeling as you - it didn't look or feel like anything special. This Pam 90 looks really good in person. But both would look similar in photos.
  15. It's asian. I have a SMP 063 coming in soon with eta 2893 from EL. I can't wait It will be my first rep with original movement.
  16. Now I'm curious - how good a deal was it?
  17. it's usually more interesting to hand the watch over and ask them what they think
  18. I've got a quad opteron 850 workstation with 16 gigs of ram with a 4 tb fiber array. It's likely the lowest end system on the floor (It ran aound $26,000, not including disks). The rest are multi million dollar sun systems.
  19. Actually you're 22 years behind the curve.
  20. I doubt it. First off, they use the fact that it's a "special" laptop to charge more. Secondly, laptop technology is gaining by leap and bounds. Look at our current laptop choices - you can get a tiny laptop (I have an averatec 4155 13.1" laptop with 2 gigs of ram, 2.2ghz MT-40 64bit cpu running ubuntu) that's around 4.5 lbs and costs under $1000. You can also get 19" laptops, dual core cpus, 256meg or more of dedicated video ram. You can even get your system running on raid disks! The tablet pc tends to be nothing more than an oversized pda. You get much poorer batt life than the pda, all the hassles of carrying around a notebook computer and what ends up being the point? Touch screen display for windows XP? Microsoft's origami is going to get a lot of hype - if they can drop the price to the $400 range, a mini pc might not be so bad - it'll be a great carputer.
  21. Actually, I think that might be an actual book. Don't buy it. Just browse around first. Some people say reading for a few months will help you avoid mistakes - it's actually quite true. The initial watches you might be drawn to when you just start out will likely be different from what you'll want after you've done your homework.
  22. This might be viewed as mean, but I'm only trying to save you from yourself. Your best starting point is to buy this book.
  23. This thread inspired me to try doing something similar. I bought a box, some black cardboard and a $5 camera tripod from walmart. Here's the result: I'd like to get a watch holder so I can lift it off the ground, and some better lighting, otherwise not bad for a $12 investment IMO. PS: I added the watermark so that others might not be as tempted to steal them and use on ebay auctions.
  24. I have a short memory, I don't even remember what I PM'ed you about. Here's pics of the final product:
  25. I'm not sure if the crown is too long or not... the crown is stripped so I can't screw it all the way down right now. I'm emailing PT to see if he has replacement parts or something.
