That's gotta be the rep case. Admittedly one of the best rep cases ever made, but still the rep. We'll soon know if he does what he says he is going to do and puts the rest of it up for sale. Mind you, if it has the decorated ETA2824 movement then all you Asian SFSO owners might want to have a punt for it
Now, if I could find a genuine caseback........
This might be a relatively new phenomenon for us, but 'old' movements appearing on the market as new is not unprecedented. Recently a quantity of unused 17J genuine ETA7750's came on the market. They would have had to have been at least 2 decades old as the 7750 was upgraded to 25J in the 80's.
Nothing would surprise me in this game Rob
Wasn't it about a year past we had some of our dealers shipping 'new' watches containing ETA movements that we established had gone out of production over a decade ago?!
My sources tell me DC was present as a guest of the local dignitaries (probably to schmooze them while the camera crew did their bit), but wasn't in front of the cameras himself....
Excuse me, but isn't the Breitling Emergency exactly the watch you want to be wearing when crossing some of the most inhospitable terrain on the planet?!?!
River's the man who pointed me towards top class reps. I never did buy an ETA2892 (not Seagull) equipped 40th Anniversary 007 SMP from him (at the time I thought $450 was steep, who says super-reps are overpriced) but I regret it to this day.
Made up for it years later when he broke the cartel stranglehold for me and sourced me a proper uPO for a massive saving. Good guy and great to have him back.
I don't think he's an out-and-out calculating con-trickster. I think he's just fast-and-loose with people and the property and money they have trusted to him.
He's not as smart as he thinks he is, and will come a cropper big time now that he's moving in circles where the other occupants are a bit less tolerant.
As someone who spent 6 months without a PAM090 (well, 5 months and 3 weeks because I got it back for 1 week with a wrecked CG) while Mark buggered about with it, and talked to him several times on the 'phone (on one occasion he offered me a 'tricked up' PAM005 taking my damaged 090 as 'part exchange') and listened to his [censored] (apparently the CG for my 090 fell out a hole in his briefcase on the way to his work) - I say throw him to the lions, although I suspect he'll [censored] on their doorstep soon enough anyway.
Hilarious!
Sunk is a twunk. This has to be the worst example of shill posting since RolexAward. Didn't open it up?! I take it he didn't turn it over either to have a look through the display caseback?!
PS. Those pictures are about 2 years old and stolen from River!!
What caught my eye about Clarkson's rubbery PO was how shiny the strap has become through wear. He has that thing on all the time, even going through the Kalahari.
PS. That was one of the worst episodes. Nice idea, but was always going to be in the shadow of the pinnacle that was the US road-trip.
Hmmm. And there was me thinking his
watch was a black dial PO 45mm with SS bracelet.
WRT to which watch(es) in Bond 22, no info as yet. Some preliminary filming took place away back in August, but it was crowd scenes for an historic sporting event. DC was there and was wearing...... a black dial PO 45mm with SS bracelet.
Genuine insert will not fit the rep. If you have a search for Pugwash's tut on how to remove and reglue the insert you will understand why. The gen insert is a cast aluminium piece with enough depth to allow the pearl to be pushed into it. The gen bezel has a very deep recess to allow the insert to fit.
The rep insert is stamped from a flat piece of metal with a hole in it for the pearl to stick through and is much thinner. The rep bezel is thicker as the pearl is sunk into it, and it only has a shallow recess for the insert.
I've never tried it, but I reckon the entire bezel/insert/pearl assemblies should be interchangeable between gen and rep having looked at pictures of their undersides and the click-spring. Who's willing to buy and try?!
Personally I'm not as I don't see the point - the uPO bezel and pearl is one of the most convincing looking pieces of watch replication I have seen (even if it is assembled differently from gen).
