Building and adding all the panerais will take at least a couple hundred hours. (Multiply that by €125, thats what Im willing to give to the community)
-
I'm thinking out developing a rep finder tool for the community as described here: http://www.rwgforum.net/topic/158788-find-your-rep-panerai/ Since there aren't many reactions, I post it here in the General discussion area, so maybe other people will see it. Please give me your thoughts. I'm not asking for your money, just your opinion!
-
the grade classification would be possible as well. But I don't think I will do this project after all, this thread has 100 views and only 2 or 3 interested people!!! I thought I was dealing with watch lovers here...
-
it looks bigger than the xvi, or am i seeing things?
-
I read here and there it's not worth it...
-
Keeping it up to date won't be a problem. It's not like there are 12 new pams coming out every day! I think I'll only add the newest version of every watch, it's up to the buyer to figure out wether he wants a v1 or a v3... And yes this is very easy to use! I'll start with panerai first as a test pilot (if there is enough people who are excited enough who want it. I'm not gonna spend months on something nobody wants). Then if it's a great success I'll add more brands.

I spend 4 hours in the train per day haha! Yes I have seen it, but see it as an online shop where you can filter a pair of jeans you're looking for: width, length, color, material etc... But then for watches I designed this (product filter for headphones) last week for a customer, so something like this:
-
Yes maybe those too! But for now there isn't much embracing... Well maybe I need a few people who can help me out with the content

As I don't have funds to support the community, I would like to do this in an other way. How about if I would build a platform where you can search for your Panerai. The Panerai that has your requirements and all. I'm not talking about a simple search bar, no I'm talking about a website (hooked to a database) where you can filter by attribute. For example: you're looking for a Panerai that is all brushed, and it needs to have a chronograph. You select those attributes, and voila all Panerais meeting your needs will show up. Here's a list of filterable attributes I made this morning on the train: Type Luminor Radiomir Submersible Size 44mm 46mm 47mm Dial Sandwich Sausage California Case Brushed Polished Titanium PVD Bezel Brushed Polished Titanium PVD Crown(guard) Brushed Polished Titanium PVD Movement 7750 6497 ST19 28xx Other(asian) Functions (including faux) Chronograph Power reserve Date Magnified date None GMT Sub-seconds Rattrapante The point of having this is that we quickly can find the rep we want! What do you guys think? Would this be helpful? Any ideas/tips or other attributes?

The gen dial is stunning! Did you do a relume to match the hands/dial?
-
Is it possible to use gen mark hands? I know the xvii has a case width of 41mm, whereas the 3717 is 42mm. If the 1mm difference is in the case and not in the dial, it would be possible to use those, right?
-
Thanks guys! So a gen dial and rep hands would look weird due to the white-difference?
-
Since the gen hands for the 3717 are out of stock everywhere, I want to do a little information request to those who are lucky enough to own a set. How is the lume compared to Vac's? I want to install a gen dial, and I hope the lume is about the same... How is the color of the hour and minute hand? The rep are a bit grey-ish, I heard gen are more black. Can I paint them? I used the search for those who own frankens, but some pics are altered or not clearly visible due to the crystal. Could all gen hands owners help me out a bit? And post more info about the differences between the gen and rep hands. And what I could to to mod them to make them close to gen as possible? And If you do happen to have a spare gen hands set, don't hesitate and shoot me a PM! Cheers!

I'll get the strap and buckle form an AD. I ordered the crown & tube from a watchmaker in the US. I won't mention him until I actually have received the goods (I want to make sure he's not a scammer before pointing people in his direction)

A dummy pusher, the main reason I'm not having a 3799 in my collection...
-
There are no Asian movements with a doppelchrono. I believe IWC uses a heavily modded eta7750. If it had a date only instead of a day-date then it would be possible to toss in a eta7753...
-
I meant 3799
-
That would be the 3789, a top gun (ceramic) version of this one...
-
I saw this beauty (gen) at a sales forum. As I love my 3717, I want this repped ASAP and to be added to my collection. What do you guys think? It's 46mm, a bit bigger than the 42mm of the 3717 and looks amazing imo!

Im not a rolex fan AT ALL, but you Sir Thomas make me yearn for a TC Sub. You are a true genius and I have respect for you and your work! ($aving up as we speak)

And the lack of shiny subdials

Looking for Franken IWC portoguese or perpetual calendar

Welcome! As far as I know dealers don't sell frankens and the only guy around here who built frankens was concepta. I read somewhere he stopped building but still sources gen parts. And if a magical fairy named Texski pops up, call the authorities! -
I spotted a couple 3777's over at rwi, but they look terrible. I got my 3717 from vac, with the needed mods. Now I'm waiting for my gen crown and tube to arrive, then I'll slap a gen strap and buckle on it and I'll be good to go! Here's mine: http://www.rwgforum.net/topic/153787-fs-vac-modded-3717-new
