You can also ask HR to customise the dial for you. Costs around $25 extra.

And yea my watch needs a lot of aging overall lol it’s the only thing I’ve not done yet. Can’t decide how far to take it.
Don’t think you need to do much at all to the watch, just a little insert ageing. Most gens still in existence don’t look like they‘ve seen much action. Less is more-

Received my Ruby inserts today ! They look amazing compared to the phong version. When I get it sorted I’ll post a photo.
Really! That was fast, still waiting for mine.
Pictures please -
Here is mine using a Vietnam case, custom dial/hands, gen 1520 movement, gen crown and stem and a phong insert.
What seconds hand are you using ? Seems more correct than mine.
Very nice spec!
I’ve got a Yuki second hand on there, changed it so often I’m beginning to loose track. Had to shape the tip slightly too, rather than the tail.

Ruby's site said $89 usd when I pulled it up- seems fair to me
Yeap, that’s what I paid. I’ll post some shots on arrival. It’ll take a few weeks though with the snail-mail. -
She has them again ???????
Yeap. I hope so at least, as funds have been sent. Let’s see what turns up. -

Ugh the damn 5517 lol been a while building mine. Down to a good insert quest now. Good luck this build can be a heart breaker.
I’ve ordered this one from Ruby.

Looks like the numerals are better than the Phong I currently have installed.

Added an original spec NDC watch strap, as per the MN watches.

Another option. Erikas Originals have a derivative design of MN straps too. Slightly misleadingly trademarked as Original MN.

Nice! Still think you would have been better served with the Yuki handset though. Apart from the second hand tail, the minute hand looks a little too long and thick to me.
Looks like the crystal has some fracturing around the edge. So you may want to replace it at some stage.
Agree, 702 crown and tube would be the way to go. -

Excellent! Now what’s your next build

Wow! Very nice indeed! As lovely as Slays insert is, wouldn’t it be too early for this watch? If so the black Phong, lightly aged, would be my choice. Btw. That crystal has done wonders for the Rehaut, what’s the spec?Since I’m with a matte black dial I need to decide on the insert. Three to choose from: Phong Black, Slay Kissing 40 Black, or Phong Blue. Nothing has been aged yet but when I do it’ll be a light touch. Lets crowd source some thoughts on this, what do you like best? -

Got a set of Phong hands and I hear the second hand is too long. How much do I trim off the hand t make it correct?
@JCC1968 Check your original thread:

How much of the second hand do I cut off to be correct?
Best thing to do is pick an original watch as a reference for your build. Take a look at the length of the tail of the second hand, here’s an example.
Another option. The Yuki handset, at least the second hand, looks to have better proportions than the Phong.

Beautiful lume work. Excellent job!

Really looking forward to seeing these pan out. I've got a hankering for a 9411 too so will be looking for hints and tips.
Here‘s a link to my 9401 build from a few weeks ago with the same MQ case. They take a some work to knock into shape. The biggest let down though being the Rehaut, which is slightly woky.

Agreed Jack! Nice catch. I was so enamored with everything else that I missed that. I also believe that yours is one of the best ever! And I’ve always been jealous of it.
Thanks buddy! The dial on that is an ingod44. He’s long gone from the rep scene unfortunately. -
MilesD did one of my all time favorites.

Nice. With one flaw to watch out for when buying 5517 bezel inserts. Too many minute markers after the 50, it should have 3, not 4.

In general I think they are great value. I used HR dials for my 5513, 6538 and 94010 builds. The 5513 is probably the most accurate, so with the addition of the tritium mark it should be pretty good for an ETA build. The dials do need reluming though. Something HR will do too on request if you decide not to do it yourself.

Yeap, hands too. Although there are better handsets out there. All in all a good deal though.
