  1. Great photos Hike, thanks for sharing. PS: I still have that video of the twins for you
  2. Guys, pls stop talking and posting about vacation in the island...the rain and grey sky is here for a while in my town I really need to see Hawa
  3. I dealt with Asim...he was the buyer. It was a smooth deal, that is why I'm in this thread. He even sent me a gift (splendid book about IWC pilot watches.) He is kinda slow maybe but the fact he is currently OFF board for a while might be a sign of a serious problem in his life. Allthough I agree that communication should be continued.
  4. Allthough you have a great collection, I'm sure you'll enjoy the gen too... And wines. Unfortunately, 1960 is 1 year before the Mill
  5. I suppose there is no level for fools like me yet...
  6. I'd love to get myself a 1960 one too...but that is not gonna happen indeed Hey Ubi, you are younger ...so it will happen for you very often to get yourself a birth year watch if you want to.
  7. Well, you seem to like Rolex and like Submariners/SeaDwellers. So getting a genuine is a must. Which one? It all depends on your preference of course as it is a question of budget. When I bought my genuine 16610 (full set) I thought that this was my grail watch. It is right and will remain one of my favourites. But, after that I bought a 16800 mate dial from 1989 and it very different from the 16610 from 1999. Then I went to a 1680 white from 1978 and this is currently my favourite. Ubi is right: if you want to make yourself a long lasting gift, go for a 1680. It is not very expensive, allthough more than a 16610, but it has a lot of caracter. In short: choose yours but go for a genuine. A rep will remain a rep... Cheers and all the best for the 50iest. I'll join you in around 14 months Stephane
  8. I'm with Monsieur Euno The Pilot...
  9. Bon anniversaire Messieurs! Have a splendid time, and wonderfull gifts
  10. Jojo, you deserve another nickname: SuperJojo! What a find, congrats. Beautyfull whatches guys. Not my cup of tea but maybe I should test one ...who knows. @Nanuq: keep it @ all: I think Jojo asked for another special feature on his watch... As I know, I won't participate...
  11. Oh yes, I'm pleased. It's really a great watch. As a matter of fact, it does not wear "big". That also is an amazing point. Not only because it's 42 cm wide but it's high too. I don't really feel it bigger than my 16800 or 16610. It's very confortable.
  12. Very interrestin thread Ubi. I for one started to collect as many reps as possible because...I like watches and those I bought I really liked them. Then, after some time, I realised they were "off" and needed to make them closer to their genuine mothers. Finally I realised I was only wearing some of them and started to sell almost all my reps, kept frankens and got 3 or 4 genuine Rolex. I will agree with you saying : Would I buy a gen Tudor again? NO Did I like it though? YES Would I buy a gen PO? Maybe, probably yes! (ooops, we disagree!) Will I continue to buy genuine subs: yes And I'll add: would I buy a gen Ingy? NO Would I buy a gen Daytona (Zenith, white face)? YES... For me there is no doubts: replicas are the path to genuine. All the best, Stephane
  13. Bon anniversaire ChoubbChoubb... Hope you'll have a great day, night, and whatever you dream about!
  14. Great move xelorrolex! Nice to see you do so. Explorer II White dial for saturday evening...
  15. Ok, I have two 60 megs files (2 minutes only). One is NTSC and the other in PAL. Can anybody tell me what I'm suppose to do to make them "lighter" ?
  16. Sure I can try that Hike! Give me a few hours to find the MPEG file and to figure out how I can edit the film. I suppose I can attach it to PMs or eMails. BUT pls do not expect a professional level ;-) I was using a video for 2 years only... And you know, I already said that, but I think we all are potential New Yorkers... No other city in the world has such a multi cultural community!
  17. Great photos Hike. I have a video I shot in september 1998 from the very bottom to the top...very slowly...
  18. It was 8 years ago, in NYC. This is a very special day. It deserve a very special watch:
  19. My deepest condolences to the people of the United States of America. A very special thought for all the New Yorkers. Stephane
  20. Thanks for your input AlliGoat. I knew you would add some important facts.
  21. Thanks Doc Thanks Dluddy. Well, it was worth the thread. I was almost sure that it was NOT 100% gen. I guess now we all know: RSC replacement dial. Also, I'm happy for my seller. Not that he will read this soon but I couldn't believe he was selling an item without having checked it before saying it's genuine.
  22. Ok BT! Thanks again for clearing my doubts. I'll wait untill tonight to repost this item for sale then. Any other comment is welcome of course
  23. Thanks BT. Your opinion is important in such matters Under a loupe, the print is really crispy and so is the lume material. I never saw a rep dial with such a feel for sure. The 12 "o" clock marker seems to be "sligthly" damaged in fact. My concern was more about the placement of the text. But, as we all know, there are always various versions @Rolex Hard to categorise a dial as gen or rep based on placement of the text only. Some more pics
