  1. Attending a number of family dinners over last couple of days has got me thinking.

How many members of your family/close friends are really interested in watches?

We've been sitting at the table today... some talk about normal things, family stuff, pets, food, cars and of course football.

There was a discussion about today's game - Manchester United vs... I don't even remember who as I am not into football at all...

So when the discussion started and I heard Manchester United - the first thing that came to my mind and that I felt like sharing was about Hublot and their new sponsorship contract, the new limited Big Bang watch etc etc.... but guess what? I did not say a word.. because I feel they would not really care. They would have no idea what Hublot is leave alone a Big Bang and what was changed in the MU limited version.

I suddenly started to feel very lonely in this hobby and with my interest.

If it wasn't for internet and our amazing forums it would be really hard to find a person to talk to about watches.

To be honest in my close surrounding there is only my father who is interested in this subject, my gf got a bit into it thatnks to me... maybe one or two friends who like nice watches but do not really have a clue about anything specific....

So thank you guys that you are here and that I can share my passion with you!

That is why I told you, come to the Euro GTG's, we always have nice food, lots of watches, LOTS of deep knowledge about watches, and of course discussions about watches - and of course friendship. All combined together! Great fun and you don't feel lonely in your hobby!

  2. Iphone out of customs.

    fees: 75 Euros

Glad it's finally on it's way to me... But I will never ever use USPS again. Used express mail international what should take 3-5 days, it's been 2 weeks now...

Contacted customs, and they said I can expect it next Monday, Tuesday or Wednesday.

    I have paid a total of +- 260 Euros.

    good deal I think...

Good deal my a$$, you bought a 4GB iPhone for 260Euros, thats not a good deal.

I'm sorry to say this, but "I TOLD YOU SO", next time try listening to what others tell you instead of being a goddamn smarta$$.

I wonder if you also call it a good deal when you hook up with a 300$ prostitute and find out that "(s)he" has a c0ck!

edit: checking the exchange rates, 250$ back when you bought it was around 195Euros, Adding 75 for Customs you are already at 270Euros and you do not have shipping included. So the correct price you paid is probably more like around 300Euros. Very good deal, indeed, for a 4GB iPhone that sold for 300$ 2 years ago (which was 185Euros back then)

  3. Sorry but this is a pam 21 and the ``cal 618`` is a fantasyname from richmont-group

Please look at the PDF document I posted and the other link. The PDF shows a Rolex 618 used in a Kampfschwimmer watch and also calls it Rolex 618.

The other link states that the Rolex 618 in the PAM21 is new-old-stock like the Angelus movements in the PAM203.

Why do you say that the 618 is not real and made up? Do you have a source for this? Because this would be new for me. The image in the PDF is not high quality enough to read the Cal. Nr. on the movement, but whoever wrote the PDF has knowledge about historic PAM's and I don't think he would make up the cal. name.

The PDF is in english also, not only german.

  4. I didnt say the last movement is beautiful/better than others, I said I have the last movement from Cortebert and I said that I have never seen this before, not even in pocket watches.

I think the 17 Jewel version is the most beautiful, there are some that look similar to this one:

    21_3.jpg

  5. ok i wont 616 for 300 euro

    good luck with search...

616 step by step rare and bigger money...

the 616 is first version for vintage panerai but 617(destro 616),620,622,624 to for vintage panerai

rolex have the vintage panerai exclusive for officina panerai reworked a cortebert and thius movt nothings in another watches or pocket watches...

definitiv!!! all another watches homages or replicas

rolex have a contract with G.Panerai for this movement and have from cortebert this buy and refinished

    all another story`s is fantasy

    Quell: Ferettii,orologi passions,watchprosite,bonata

    http://orologi.forumfree.net/?t=32321202

You don't understand my, I'm not denying this, I'm just saying that advertising this movement as Rolex is not okay. Same as you cannot say 6497 from Panerai is the same as 6497 from ETA.

I don't know the market for 616 movements right now, I sold one of mine in perfect condition for 300Euros. (and I had to wait to find a buyer!)

But I think SF240 is much rarer than Cortebert 616

This is a Rolex 618: http://www.knirim.de/xpane.pdf (the one in the middle), at least they call it Rolex 618, I think the most beautiful of all reworked Cortebert movements. But there are even better versions of the Rolex 618/620 out there (better finish/condition).

I have the same/similar Cortebert movement as in the very last pic on the PDF, I dont know what cal. it is, it was a lucky buy, I have never seen that movement before!

  6. It's a good thing that we have so many multinationals today that are dependend on the world market and cannot afford to have one market killed. That is saving us from a dollar collapse right now. Because as I said, the dollar cannot lose all of its value unless prices rise in America, and that would kill the market. Noone has interest in that. (besides Iran maybe). Many people would lose money, more money than they would lose if the Dollar does not get devalued.

Just think about it, if you borrowed someone sth. would you be interested in devaluating the money he borrowed from you?

  7. Panerai used different movements. They also used cal 620. Some of the Rolex movements have poor finish, but some of them had a really good finish. There was no real consistency, because those watches were all limited quantity and handmade.

I have seen a vintage PAM before with the same/similar movement as the PAM21. I also once almost bought the exact movement that is in the PAM 21 in a Rolex pocket watch. It was very old, but looked like new (the owner kept it in a safe as investment).

Rolex movements (616,618,620,622 and whatnot) are very rare and much more expensive than Cortebert. They may have used Cortebert and just refinished some parts. But Rolex did the same to Valjoux 72 movements. A Rolex 727 is probably 5x as expensive as generic Valjoux 72, if not more.

Even if they look the same and 80% of the parts are identical, they are different, in my opinion. And this is reflected by the price.

PS I have seen alarm angelus go for over 1000$, some 1500$ even! All comes down to how rare they are

  8. The Dollar cannot fall under a certain point UNLESS the USA has a massive inflation or their economy collapses. Why? At a cerain point (as the dollar loses value), goods in the US will become so cheap that people from all over the world will buy there.

For Example, in the UK, a PS3 can be had for under 300Euro. You can order it on amazon.co.uk, have it shipped to Germany for 10Euro or so. In Germany you pay 400 for the same thing. Lots of people are buying things from the UK now. If the pound would lose further value, lets say you could buy the PS3 for 150Euro. That is not going to work for a long time, because all of a sudden noone will be willing to buy the PS3 in Germany (or any other Euro country), because they can get the same damn thing for 250Euro less in England and don't even have to pay taxes/tariffs.

There cannot be massive currency devaluation without massive inflation, at least not in an industry nation. And if we see massive inflation in the US, the Economy will go down for sure. And then we all will be affected by this.

The quintessence of what I wrote is, that there is a certain point until which the dollar can lose value, but no further, otherwise the world economy will be even more fcuked than it already is

  9. all ``rolex``16lines movements is a cortebert

rolex have buy from cortebert the movts and refinish this

but it's a different movemnt, wouldnt you say? Rolex also uses Zenith bases for their Daytona movements. If they were the same, the prices would not differ so much. A Cortebert 616 can be had for 300Euros or so, a Rolex on the other hand will cost you 2.000Euro or more, depending on the condition (if you even manage to find one). The finish is completely different and of much much higher quality. I have seen a NOS Rolex 618 once and it was stunning.

Nevertheless a gorgeous watch. But Rolex>Cortebert

  10. pleas enlighten us whit your deep knowledge.

No deep knowledge needed, your dog could probably answer that one. Its a Cortebert, not a Rolex. IMO there is a difference, a huge difference in price, to say the least.

Otherwise, we could start calling Moljina movements Rolex aswell.... you see where this is going?

  11. If you have a Credit card which extend the warranty of everything you buy.. then no.

I would go with Applecare for a Macbook. For an iMac, I don't see anything that could break easily after the first year. So I would save my money.

I had problems with my iMac! A few of the cables inside were internally damaged or whatever, it took them 3 logic boards and 2 new hard-drives to finally listen to my tip that it MAY be one of the cables and not the hardware.

  12. Honestly I think the last thing that is going to happen to the USA is a merger with ANY country. The United States are way too proud of their history & their constitution and all that. I think most people would rather die fighting than giving up and merging with mexico.... unless of course america is 80% hispanic in 20years, than that scenario is a whole other story.

If it wasn't for Obama, I would say we are heading for WW3 (just because WAR has proven to solve economic problems)
