  1. What the h3ll does all that mean?

Call me old, non World of warcraft player and non-hacker.

    OmG is OhmyGod, right?

    English please...

please read a few lines above your post ;)

and I too never played world of warcraft. In fact I rarely play video games, and If I do, only together with friends. Playing games only makes fun when you can shout at your friends after they kill you ;)

  2. Here is the problem. On a genuine 7753 the modification is done to the movement itself, things are changed, but an additional plate is not added. The modified asian 7750 is a clone of the 7750, but a transfer plate has been added to the dial side of the movement to shift the subdials. Since the datewheel is part of the original movement it sits under this transfer plate, hence the datewheel sitting low. You are looking at the datewheel through an opening in the transfer plate, so you can't just make the datewheel thicker. There are two ways to fix the problem. 1. The movement itself could be made the same way the 7753 is made, but only the manufactuer would be capable of making this modification. 2. I'm not sure about this, but it might be possible to use some sort of transfer mechanism to move the datewheel to the transfer plate. This would require more enginnering and equipment than I think anyone would be willing to do. Plus it would be far cheaper just to buy a genuine 7753 than to go through all this trouble. Our best hope is that Million Smart will decide to clone the 7753 themselves.

Hmm... I remember hearing that its not possible to simply swap an asian 7750 with a Swiss 7753? Is that true? And whats the reason for this? Isnt the datewheel in a different position on a 7753?

Also genuine 7753s are very expensive.

I cant think of any reason why ETA discontinues them

Hang on, if you're taking about just making a thicker datewheel, then no chance. You need to make a datewheel above the transfer gears and make a new mechanism to raise it.

The transfer gears are installed ON TOP OF the datewheel.

Damn...!!! They probably wont EVER fix this flaw.

I'm surprised at you slay - this has been discussed and answered so many times!! This is why nothing can be done about the sunken date:

And this is how ETA do it - see the difference:

So unless the asians completely make a new top plate ain't nuttin gonna change!!

Thanks for the pics. I do have a life, so I miss some threads every once in a while and because of that I dont know everything ;)

  3. Could it be possible that the datewheel sits so low on the PAM250 for example because there are transfer gears that move the 30minute counter from 12 to 3?

I looked at some swiss7753 reps that dont seem to have a sunki datewheel.

And the sunk datewheel is really obvious, I looked at a GEN PAM250 yesterday and I had my rep 250 on and the difference was was huge!

  4. It's a nice dial but the fonts are wrong on OYSTER and COSMOGRAPH. COSMOGRAPH must be a non-proportional font and the "A" must be flat on top. In OYSTER the font must be the same as ROLEX with the same funny "R". The DAYTONA looks nice, the coronet is too high (as in DW's watches) and the "rim" around the subdials looks more than a little wierd.

That looks like the same raw machined case we love from DW, and the pushers look asymmetric to me, and that's the same humongous triplock DW sells.

Isn't that the same movement they put in the Broad Arrow for awhile? Look at the gold striations on the balance plate.

    ???

If you are talkin about the watchonpo watch, yes, it uses the seagull movement.

I belive this is the gentleman that I bought my 6263 from A year ago I spent $500 although he ships fast he never sent the box, booklets, or extra bezel inserts.

"Now the question is, does this watch have Asymmetric pushers and 19mm lugsize?"

No I think those are Asymmetric .

From who did you buy this watch and which movement is inside?

  5. Popping the questions sucks. I Spent enough on her ring to have any of the Rolex sports models and then some. To this day (5 years later) I only her about what shinny things she wants for Christmas. If I had all the money I spent On her jewelry I wouldn't be on this board LOL. When buying your ring be CAREFUL mall jewelry stores typically make up engagement rings by 10 times. that is to say that 7500 ring is only worth maybe 800 to 1000 on EBAY any maybe as much as 1500 to a jeweler. Good look man and heed my best buddies advice "Dumb cheap chics are the best"!

    LMAO :thumbsupsmileyanim:

  6. Nah, Breitling is probably the last watch I'd get for him. Its too much "in your face b..." IMO ;)

I thought about a Seadweller. Not a Submariner, still a Rolex and a little bit more class than a Sub. What do you guys think? Most of the other suggestions are great, too and I will take a look at them next time I visit WEMPE!

Btw. How much are AP's? Or are there any "special" Panerais without Unitas/7750 under 5k?

  7. I want this to be a watch that still has value in lets say 25 or 50 years. It has to be the kind of watch you would pass to your son or grandson.

That is why I would avoid fancy fashion watches. I'd love to get him a lange, but at 15.000+ they are out of range!

I thought about a Rolex, but Rolex seems just too easy, if you know what I mean.

on the other hand, if you take a look back in time, how could would it have been, if I had gotten a 6263 or a DRSD back in the 70s (assuming I would have been alive in the 70s)

  8. My cousin will graduate from school next year, and we thought about getting him a watch. Since I'm the watch-a-holic, everyone in our family now relies on me and my sense of taste. I think they want to engrave something like "Class of 2007" on the back.

But which watch deserves to be picked for him? It has be be somewhere between 1000$ and 5000$.

One rule: No Submariner, No Seamaster

Other than that, I'm open for everything else. Be it a dress watch or a sports watch. Has to be a genuine.
