  1. The correct and proper pronunciation of Aaron is AHH-RON......the etymology of the name Aaron is derived from Aaron the brother of Moses.....it's a Hebraic name and therefore should be pronounced as in Israel.......AHHRON....!

Neil, if you wanna play hardball, then it should technically be Aharon, since that's how it's spelled in Hebrew it is. So to be completely obnoxious you would call him Ah ha ron, not to be confused, of course with Acha ron (which means "last")

Just call the bloke Air-run and all should be cool...

  2. Oh no! I just bought one for my father. The Rolex screws are very simple. What do you recommend I get ahead of time with this? Or just take it to the watchmaker and save the bother?

Maybe I'm too new to the hobby, or it's just not my personality, but I can't imagine selling any of my longed-for rep "babies". Not even if they go to waste getting no wrist time whatsoever.

For this particular model I'd say go to your local non AD jeweler. It was NOT easy removing those pins; I broke 3 different (Indian) tools trying. Fortunately, I fixed the tools and adjusted the bracelet but there was elbow grease involved...

  3. Nice info ....... wondering if this could damage the case (I guess not since its used for frames too) and how easily can be removed during usual wear..... lets say from ones own clothes.

Who's going it to give it a go ???? :g:

Read some bad reviews of the stuff. I think it's a bust. Nice idea though...

  4. I chuck mine in a box or when I'm really feeling fancy I'll put them out for display on my "watch stand". It's also an autowinder, and only takes like 3 or 4 seconds to get them all fully wound! :tu:

LOL. Looks like some sort of horror movie. Hope those weren't items that belonged to others who were just "wandering" through the woods...

  5. I'm going to give you another link, which you can use as a compare-contrast reference guide.

PLEASE use it at your own discretion, but I've bought gens from them, and have no complaints so far.

They don't even charge your credit card if they don't have the watch in stock at that very moment, which sometimes can take a few days to get. Emails are so-so, but delivery is very prompt (1 week tops, in my experience, priority shipping @ no charge), and they do have a customer service number.

I think there's a commerce statute of sorts that no online company selling PRODUCTS (not services) is supposed to charge your card until the product is shipped--otherwise they are in breach of terms of their merchant accounts. Not sure about this, but seem to recall it being so...

  6. Nah, I wouldn't waste the money on Swiss stuff. My cheapo Indian tools have lasted me dozens of adjustments. The 3717 bracelet is very easy to adjust. Just follow the rules above...

Helpful hint: Apart from one of those twist screw link pin removers I'd also get a jeweler's hammer with plastic head pins for tapping and a wooden bracelet holder. Super cheap. Kits on the Bay with all of this stuff for under $20. I'd spend the money on some good screw drivers. Last thing: expect hell on earth when you adjust your PO bracelet...

  7. ....if that's true ..... will be the product of the century for us.

    Bring this spray here.

I will spray all my watches .... I will even spray the windows of my house too. :thumbsupsmileyanim:

Wow - that would be the product of the year indeed. I wonder how one would guaranty an even layer of this stuff...

Okay, who's going to be the first to try this:

    hxxp://www.amazon.com/Glare-Buster-Anti-Glare-Reflective-Coating/dp/B0006FYKSW

    hxxp://www.visionclearusa.com/

They make it for TV screens, picture glass, etc. Seems like picture glass would be closest to watch crystal? I get a sinking feeling about this one...

  8. Incredible pics, Kollektor! Please thank your wife on behalf of the group, as well.

I actually feel a little better now, since by far, the PAM was the one which looked most at home on your wife's dainty wrists. Whatever the Panerai has, it also has charisma, style, presence that other watches just don't have; and perhaps that's what allows it to look good on women too.

The worst, the Breitling, yipes. Now THAT looked hideous on her. And me wanting a white steelfish, on brown leather band too, since I had heard that with Andrew's are guaranteed for swimming use. Ah well.

    Thanks again! :)

Glad these help. I think wrist shots are vital. I have New and Improved Osteopath to thank for his wrist shots of the Sant chrono--which made me pull the trigger. I was worried that it would wear too large and his pictures put me at ease. These things really need context. The wife thought the Panny looked horrid on her, but I actually like the look. Then again, she gasps in pain when I wear my RO Jumbo so we really have to wear these things for ourselves. Looking forward to your wrist shots within the next few days. I love Pug's white SF on leather; may not look so bad on you...

  9. while doing my google homework, I came across this site : korea replica watch forum

it says in the title that it's Korea replica watch forum...they are discussing about reps definitely...but i don't understand anything...it would be interesting in knowing more about this forum...

"No pain, no gain and no watches"? That has to be the cheesiest tagline I've read to date. Let's randomly take a popular saying in English and then add a non-sequitur.

"Don't believe the hype... and watches"

"It's the pot calling the kettle black... and watches"

"It's my way or the highway... and watches"

  10. I have received several catalogues from the source at their various websites. Many of them have a link that you can order a catalogue. I got Carl Bucherer, Cuervo y Sobrinos, and some others that I don't recall.

Mostly though, I get them from the AD. I find that if you go in with any familiarity with the brand, enough that they know you've done some homework, they usually offer the catalogue, and bottled water, and allow you to try the nicer ones on. I usually ask them if they have a model that I know very well that they won't have in my city. Also, little things like "is this one a Z series?" or "Anonimo...isn't that where Dino Zei went when he left Panerai?" or simply "are these guys a Swatch company?" help convince them that it won't be a waste to give you one.

It may help to dress nice and be over 40. Don't know if you can do anything about that last one...

The catalogues I've obtained from dealers:

Omega (the hardbound cat. not just the pamphlet)

Breitling (it's called the "Chronolog" ask for it by name)

    Panerai

    Rolex

    Tissot

    Oris

    Tag Heuer

    Longines

    Ulysse Nardin

Some that have eluded me are Patek, Vacheron Constintin, IWC, and Audemars Piquet

It's almost as fun as collecting reps, well...not really, but it is amusing just for the thrill of the hunt.

Sorry to thread jack but I saw the name "Carl Bucherer." I love these watches!!!!
