  1. Ay. What have I done? Straps already bought, too...maybe a dozen. :(

Oh well, I'm looking on the bright side until I actually get it on my hand. Failing all else, I can pay for my new hobby as a clown in kid's parties.

Only time will tell. Personally, I'd love the look, but then, I'm a PAM freak and would appreciate what you're wearing. Some may not get it. But you're wearing it for you, and that's all that matters. Just make sure you post some wrist shots.

  2. I've been thinking about buying a new gen and I came upon this website that sells what they proport to be gen watches at a big discount. I'm thinking about buying either a Breitling Super Ocean, an Omega Planet Ocean or an Omega Constellation. This site has all of those watches at serious discounts. Any input on which watch to buy would also be welcome.

I've never been able to make a link work so I'll just paste in the site.

I've posted about them before. I'm convinced that they're legit. Spoken to them on the phone about a gen I was interested in. They had very good ratings on Ebay (check to make sure it's still the case). Keep in mind that many of their prices are based on models with removed serial numbers. You will have to pay an additional $150 - $200 to get the model with serial if it is not already advertised as such.

Watch companies make their authorized dealers sell at certain prices to qualify them as ADs. These guys buy in bulk from ADs without reporting to the manufacturer. The serial is removed when the price is below the threshold. I wouldn't hesitate to buy a gen from them. I'd also pay the extra cash to get a proper serial if resale will ever be an issue for you (clearly, you'll almost always lose money on a watch sale unless it's a Rlx, so the serial thing may make matters worse). My local bricks and mortar AD was able to match their price so I went with them to give them the business.

If I recall, their warranty service is a bit dodgy. Only through them and no others, whether ADs or not. Otherwise the warranty is voided. Great deals on Breits, Omgs, Ors, etc. Let us know what happens...

  3. I think I know the one to which you refer, actually! Was it the PAM Purdey Lion, against the background of a Polish girl's thighs? ;)

You won't believe this, but it was that very sequence of photos that made me say, okay, she's wearing a PAM, it's huge, and she and I are rather similar physically. How bad can I look? Famous last words, maybe...

Kollektor, sure! Please post those photos if you can. :)

No photos yet, but I do have some potentially discouraging news. Put my 063 on the wife last night and it was borderline ridiculous. The case and lugs practically overshot her wrists so that the strap could hardly be seen when looking straight down at the dial. Now I'm used to seeing large watches on people, so all looked relatively normal to me, but I think that others may have a different perception. Wife thought it to be on the ridiculous side. :-(

  4. Are all women teasers?

You have your opening. Now clean up the oil on your driveway, shine your chrome with the microfiber cloth, Loctite your bolts, throw on some bling, and try to get that Harley rattling down to Miami. (You can tell I ride a sport motorbike :whistling: )

...and the answer to your question, is "yes."

  5. Heh, first, loved the diddy. But your stat doesn't make sense. Aren't there 14-20 million Jewish people around the world, TOTAL? :)

By that reckoning there should be very few, if any Jewish posters here and I'll bet you there are plenty!

Why? Maybe because of the perceived affluence Jewish people have...ah, I think I just answered my own question (or maybe not!, since reps are WAY cheaper than real ones, wouldn't it follow that perceived lower incomed people would flock to these forums?).

I disagree. Many of the people on this forum (I have noted) collect both gens and reps. We are into watches. Just a fun and very cool hobby. (Unfortunately a ridiculously expensive little hobby but I'm getting off topic...)

  6. Ack, this reminds me that since starting to post on this forum, I've bought two PAMs on which I am still awaiting delivery. And your wife's wrist is larger than mine (5.7").

With this side-by-side shot, it brought home to me the fact that I might look like I'm wearing a clown watch...but the Pannie fever was too strong!!

I hear you. Someone here (or possibly on the other forums) posted a photo of his girlfriend wearing a Panny. It looked fantastic on her. Don't know what wrist size she was, however. But don't forget, there are models that are smaller than 44mm which may be right up your alley.

If you would like a wrist shot of the Better Half wearing one of my Pams, just say the word...

  7. Lazarini - I can try to get you a wrist shot of the wife with DJ and gen Tag Aquaracer (very pretty and versatile watch) to give you an idea of wrist size vis-a-vis case sizes. She is very petite. Wish I could convince her to wear my Pams and Breits. You can get DJs customized however you want. Stick markers, roman numerals, etc.

  8. I know one lady who was pleased with Trusty's DJ, black dial, diamond markers, fluted bezel and Jubilee bracelet. Very stunning; elegant and slightly sporting at the same time. Wasn't enamored of the Francoise with diamonds--didn't look so great. The 24 got mixed reviews although I liked it. J12 is a nice option, too

  9. Man i keep coming to this topic at least 23 times a day!!! Im so hyped to get it next week!!!

Yes, I'm obsessive compulsive about this one as well. Every watch is the "last" one I'll be obtaining in a while... until the next Wrist Check. Insidious...

  10. For whatever it's worth... I think it's one of the most interesting, unusual and elegant watches out there. It is dated and yet timeless at the same time. Old and new. Simple and sophisticated. Probably repeating everything that Euno and Ubi have already stated. As far as accuracy is concerned, only a super WIS rep geek would know the difference IMHO. Like most everyone here, my eyes constantly dart to the wrists of passersby, and I hardly ever notice anyone looking at my watches. You probably have a better chance of getting hit by lightening than finding someone who even knows the 3700 (outside of this forum, that is).

  11. Allegedly. :whistling:

Everyone will usually answer that their special forces is the best, for some reason. The truth is probably down to opportunity and the limits of the human body.

Agree in part. Patriotism and bravado seem to drive opinions on this issue. Personally, I think that experience and innovation are the marks of a good spec-ops group. Moreover, it's all the intel and planning behind the warfare that gives teams an edge. So it's really a synergy, not a single component. If one gear of the movement fails, the entire watch may cease to function. Hence Israel's debacle in Lebanon which, in my opinion, came from poor leadership.

BTW, I wouldn't compare Israel's Sayeret Matkal to American Navy Seals. While Matkal soldiers are highly operational and have considerable field experience, their program is accelerated when compared to Seals. I think that Seals are generally in for longer and have more training under their belts. Moreover, both units stress different capabilities and skill sets. I think I read that Matkal was originally fashioned after the British SAS even though it has created its own paradigm today. There are other career units in Israel that are superior to Matkal in operational capability and experience, even though Matkal gets the spotlight for its high profile operations.

I'm sure there are units all over the world that receive less attention than SAS, Seals, Matkal, etc., but are quite capable.
