  1. I used this guy for a NOS Breitling Navitimer dial - it was perfect. The deal was done and shipped fast too. I'd recommend him based on that experience anyway
  2. I have a gen Carrera Tachymeter and a gen Oris TT3 Chrono - the TAG's bracelet is built better, but there is no quality difference with the rest of the watch. If your decision was to be based on price, the Oris wins easily. They are much better value for money than Omega/TAG. For example, my gen Oris TT1 Regulator is built to a very high standard - I was very surprised, given that the price was about $1150... The only "shortfall" that Oris have; is the packaging. The boxes and manuals are not as high quality as Omega/TAG/Breilting. Not an overly important issue, but it could be one reason why Oris are cheaper.
  3. You might have to do some detective work to find out what movement it is based on. Maybe a Modified ETA? You should then be able to find the stem. Now, All Oris need to do is supply the Crown - they must still make a Crown to suit??
  4. For information, I used CQOUT for a few years. Always used PP and BidPay etc. never had a problem. The Rating system is much much better than eBay, because if a transaction goes really wrong, the seller/buyer is forced to rectify or be fined and/or barred. There is no messing with CQOut. On a slightly different note, Moneybookers was one of my long standing methods of payment. Until I put $500 worth of cash into it for a rep purchase. For some reason, the recipients' address (a well known rep dealer) must have set alarm bells off - as MB then took about 3-4 weeks to do a "security audit". The constant emails and phone calls to broken-English speaking personnel was seriously irritating. The result was me losing about $200 (for their "audit fees") and being barred from MB permanently. My advice to all is; STAY AWAY FROM MONEYBOOKERS - THEY ARE TOTAL A55HOLES. PAY THE EXTRA FOR AN ANONYMOUS TRANSACTION. IF I CANT USE PP, I USE MONEY GRAM.
  5. I emailed him (& ordered thru the site) 2 days ago about wanting to buy some stuff but he hasn't replied. Can someone please shed some light before I take my business elsewhere ? Thanks
  6. Can you not re-use the original stem & crown? If not, you need small pliers to grip the flat sides of the original stem; then unscrew the crown. This will be a bit tight. measure the stem length with a vernier caliper/gauge. take the new stem and cut using pliers about 0.5 - 1mm longer. use a fine file or abrasive wheel to fine trim the excess length down use thread lock on the crown end of stem, screw crown on tightly. and thats it!
  7. Has anyone successfully done this mod? ...on the Asian 7750 tricompax model 3,6,9.... the date wheel on the rep is covered by two transfer gears, making this a more difficult mod than with the normal 7750. I have an ETA 7753 datewheel which I want to install, but is it possible?? Thanks
  8. No not always the same lume colour as it normally appears in daylight. The white hands glow blue, as do the grey ones etc. I've not personally seen CF B&R straps, but Altstraps make good leathers and Gasgasbones make webbing straps.
  9. Why can't you use an ice pick like everyone else?!
  10. I had the "Awaiting Customs Charges" message a few weeks ago. Naturally, I worried but I need not have. I called Parcelforce who then put me through to HM Customs to ask the progress on my parcel! That I didn't expect! Anyway, they deal with thousands of items per day, and your (as mine was) just ended up in the same cart as another item of interest. Don't chase it up, and don't panic either. Give it about 2 days in that state and it should be released with no charges. Silix won't have put a silly value on it and it certainly won't be getting released if they knew it was a rep! Just relax and leave it for a while...
  11. OT - yeah thats my V GSR, with RH forged rims
  12. Kimi: TAG Heuer Grand Carrera Robert: Certina DS Action Heikki: TAG Heuer F1 ..who's the geek now then?!! I didn't see what Blundell was wearing, but in the past I noticed he had a Bentley 6.75...
  13. Hi All I have a 21.6k 7750 (3,6,9) which I can't seem to be able to re-fit the stem into. It has gone thru the first wheel and in a fair bit, but the last part just before the 'snap' , just wont go. Any ideas?
  14. For the Serial number....there could be a possible fix....? Jakub (K2222) had been trying out some engraving on rotors. Maybe he could arrange a custom mod on the case of this one? Jakub?
  15. I have my doubts as to that main pic being gen. The slide rule is too creamy - the gen slide rule is pearly white, almost silver. There is no AR on the glass. The coating of the black dial should have a 'metallic' sheen to it, this one is flat black. Its possible that someone has obtained a Lello (or gen!) DW and retro-fitted it. Finally, the main pic is taken somewhere else. The other pics are catalog shots from the 1st gen Navi rep.
  16. Yes it is possible. This is my rep, but fitted with an ETA 7750 movement - the date wheel is still the same, of course (great pics, Gio!)
  17. As it happens, I used to have that rep aswell! It was ok, as far as a quartz watch goes, but the base metal was something like brass. Plated with a smoky chrome, to give it the Ti look...strange, cos the gen is stainless steel. The rep looked nice, but to hold it, it felt cheap. If you really, really want one, best save your money and buy the gen
  18. Check out the shameless bullsh*t from this dreamer!! A glance at the sub dials reveals.......a faux chrono!! lol http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Tag-heuer-new-Monaco...1QQcmdZViewItem
  19. A man after my own heart!! I thought I knew a lot about Navi's, but jeeeez, I learnt a few things today!! Andreww, you did a fantastic job - especially the attention to the really fine details, which I don't believe I've seen in a guide before?! Superb work!!
  20. Thanks for the pics ! Did you find a comaparison between typical prices there compared to your home country? ie. was an SMP cheaper in Geneva or (for example) in Atlanta?!
  21. They never got close to the Aerospace or Emergency with the LCD displays, but they did get fairly close to the Emergency Mission. Although that rep was fitted with a cheap CN movement with faux chronos
  22. Thanks again fellas, for the kind words - Yay! I actually like doing comparisons, when I have the time. Most people (non WIS's) just dont get my hobby. Here, I can blab about it and feel happy!! ...almost like walking down the street naked!! I hope to be of more use in the future maybe in the not-too-distant, these watches will be modified again.........?
  23. Nice Pair Taka! (now how often does someone say that to you?! )
  24. Right, most of us know what the flaws are with the rep Chrono Avenger "version 2". By "version 2", I mean the all-titanium one fitted with asian 21600 vph 7750. In fact I'm sure the "version 1" was also fitted with low beat 7750. Anyway, I'm not sure if anyone has made a comparison of the gen and rep side by side. If so, well here's another! Let's start with the front of the rep: Glaringly obvious (pardon the pun) is the lack of AR coating Then there is the incorrect font on the bezel rider tabs - the v1 had the correct font The blobby bezel pearl - which I've filed down on this example - the v1 had a better looking pearl The "soft" rounded edges of the case, bezel and bracelet links - the v1 had sharper edges. By the way, all Replica titanium Chrono Avengers have "Professional" bracelets. The asian 7750 was fitted with the strange font date wheel, which we are all familiar with. This example is fitted with an ETA date wheel. A Lello date wheel would take care of this issue The "B" logo is etched/engraved onto the front of the bezel near the pearl. It should be on the edge at the 11.30 hour mark. Compare with the gen... Now we have the angular aspect of the rep case & bezel: Again, the lack of AR coating is apparent on the mineral glass The small screws on the bezel (to aid grip with gloved hands) are polished, not matte as per the original The soft edges of the case are also seen again The crown was replaced for this rep, as the thread stripped on the previous factory fitted one. The 'B' logo was the correct size, albeit not as sharp The chrono pushers are almost flat, whereas they should be very slightly domed. Also, they are not brushed across the pushers (and protectors) as the gen. You will see that the luminous hour dots are blobby as opposed to flat. Some large second hands were said to have been shorter. It seems that this one is ok. Compare with the gen... Moving on to the case back: (apologies for underexposure) The case back is good, not as deep - but I have seen on another CA rep of mine, the case back is the correct depth! This is just being picky, but I thought I'd mention it anyway. The inside of the bracelet should bear the marking "880E" and a 4 digit code meaning the month of manufacture and the year. Eg. 4500 is the 45th week of 2000. A similar code (on the gen) is visible between the strap lugs @ 6 The bracelet links are spaced slightly further apart on the gen. The case cutout for the crown is wider on the rep. Picture of the gen: Now, the bracelet clasp: The signature stamping is feint The Winged B logo is broad, and quite strange looking. It actually looks fake, as far as Winged B logo's go! The foldover clasp is cut square and sharp, the recess follows the same lines. The diver extension is virtually the same, and the 3 piece clasp links are not that different in shape. You can see the rounded bracelet link edges. The gen links have a more pronounced bevel. Pic of the gen... So, most of the points raised are not that drastic. A few choice mods could certainly sort it out: AR coating by Chieftang or K2222. Datewheel by Lello. Gen dial & inner bezel swap (rare as rocking horse poo). Maybe even a gen bezel swap - I've just eyeballed the metal around the crystal and it could be about 0.5mm wider on the rep... The titanium Chrono Avenger may be getting a little thin on the ground now. I managed to pick up one more Ti rep. (from King) the form of a Grey dialled version with UTC module, which by contrast is actually very well made!! All in all, the Chrono Avenger is a rep that isn't too shocking, but it still begs the question "Why do the rep makers make these silly mistakes, which are just so obvious?!" Parting shot... I hope you found this useful
