  1. I'm in the same boat. I just bought a 4813 from Ofrei assuming it was going to have a 28,800 beat. After getting it installed, it seemed as jerky as the old 21 jewel movement that was in the watch previously. I took several pics at different shutter speeds. At 1.0 sec shutter speed you can clearly see 6 tics of the second hand. The picture below is actually at a 1.3 second shutter speed, so it shows 8 tics, but ignore the first two. The third tic is right on top of the second marker, followed by 5 more tics. The next tic would have been right on top of the next second marker, so this is definitely a 21,600 movement, not a 28,800. I was a little unhappy. Additionally, the hand stack is much shorter on this movement than on the 21J I removed, so the hands are all smushed against the dial. I'm going to put the other movement back in because it was actually a better movement.
  2. I'm late throwing in my two cents here, but I had the same problem. I went to wal-mart and bought a whole collection of needles, found one that fit, filed it down to the right length, and glued it in place with super-glue. I think you might have a problem with the paper clip because the metal is much softer than the original pin. A steel needle is much stronger, and my repair has lasted for over a year.
  3. The bezel on a gen Navitimer has a small pinion inside which causes the inner bezel to rotate at a different speed than the outer bezel. I think it's a 2 to 1 ratio, but I'm not sure. If you look closely when you turn the outer bezel, you can see that the inner bezel rotates more slowly. The rotation is also as smooth as glass. I've lubed mine but it didn't help much. It's just a completely different design from the gen, and I don't think you'll ever get it to feel as smooth.
  4. I have a concealed weapons permit and I carry a handgun almost everywhere I go. I had to go through rigorous training to get my permit, and I had to pass a background check. But as a law abiding citizen I am still not allowed to carry my weapon into a bank, or a school, or many other places. There are guns in America. That fact is not going to change. If guns were banned, as a law abiding citizen, I would turn in my weapons. But don't believe for a minute that the criminals that are already in posession of guns would turn in theirs. The public at large would be at the mercy of the armed criminals. In Iraq, we should arm the populace. Instead of taking away weapons every time we find them, we should mass produce handguns and give them to every adult citizen in Iraq. The good guys outnumber the bad guys. We need to allow them the ability to defend themselves.
  5. That sucks. I travel regularly for my job, and about a month ago I flew on a small Embraer that didn't have enough room in the overhead bin for my carry on. I had to check it plane side, and after I got on the plane I remembered that I had left my Seamaster Professional and a Submariner in it. I was only slightly concerned, but when I got to my destination I noticed that the outside zipper was unzipped. That was where I had stashed the watches. I immediately looked, and they were gone. I was [censored]. When you include shipping and WU fees, I had $500 wrapped up in those two watches, but there was no way for me to get any money back from Delta, or even claim them on my homeowners insurance because they were reps. Can't you claim your Omega on your homeowners insurance? It won't pay for everything, but at least you'll get some of your money back.
  6. I recieved my watch on Friday. I posted a review on TRC right here: Review of Montbrillant Datora on TRC On thing I didn't mention in the review is that the watch has been gaining about 10 minutes per day.
  7. Actually... I think I would buy one of those. Tacky or not.
  8. LOL... She is hot, too. I can say that because she is adopted. But sorry... no pictures.
  9. I know I only have a few posts on this board, therefore I don't have much clout, but I have been very active on one of the other boards, so I'm not completely "in the dark", so to speak. I just wanted to clarify that so that people don't immediately dismiss my comment below... My sister is an attorney, and I asked her about this. She said that there is the criminal law issue and the civil law issue. On the criminal law side, as long as the administrators of the board are not doing anything illegal (i.e. selling the watches themselves) then it is a freedom of speech issue and they can organize the board any way they want. No government authority can shut them down (in the US). On the civil law side, it's a little more complicated. The gen companies can bring a lawsuit against the board, and even if they have absolutely no case whatsoever, they can drag the owner of the board through legal hell for years and years. She said that since the boards had a special section reserved specifically for dealers, and the dealers had to be approved by the board to post in those sections, it was a tacit endorsement of those dealers. What they could do is eliminate the dealer sections and have people who want to sell watches post their adds under the other topics. They could also have a disclaimer stating that it is against board policy to sell counterfeit goods, and that those posts would be deleted when found by the administrators. Then the dealers would have to use "code words" to sell the watches, but basically as long as the administrators can show they are attempting to police the board, we can keep doing what we've been doing. It will take the noobs a little longer to get up to speed (a good thing?), but those of us who know how to contact the dealers will be essentially unaffected. A whois search for rwg.cc shows they are registered in Malaysia. Perhaps they should change their registration to the US. Unless, of course, the Malaysian legal system gives them more protection. My sis doesn't know much (anything) about the Malaysian legal system. By the way... My sister charges $225 per hour, and I used up one hour of her time. I gave her $225 plus a $30 "shipping and handling" tip since she's my sister. Sooooo, I would appreciate it if one of the dealers would send me a stainless/white Daytona with correct subdial spacing and running seconds at 6.

Don't post anymore puzzles please. I just wasted 40 minutes.
  11. You unquestionably need the new Breitling Montbrillant Datora. It just came out this week. Joshua has it. Check it out. It has more complications than any other rep.
  12. No offense, but I have to disagree with the people who say that the rep manufacturers don't want to make a perfect rep because they want us to keep buying the upgrades. That doesn't make economic sense. A manufacturer that could produce a perfect rep at a reasonable price could corner the market on that particular rep. Most people only buy one engagement ring, but you don't see Debeers trying to push inferior diamonds in the hope that people will "upgrade". If you look at the rep market, it has been continually improving over the past few years. As the market for quality reps grows, the rep manufacturers continue to improve their products. Watches like the Ultimate PO are already indistinguishable as reps by everyone but the most astute observers. The problem with the Sub is that so many people are satisfied with a "decent" model, there is little incentive for the manufacturers to make a "perfect" version. The majority of casual rep buyers are looking for a Rolex because, in many cases, that is the only brand they know. The rep Rolex market is dominated by cheap reps of mediocre quality. In the short term we will probably see more nearly perfect Breitlings, Omegas, and Panerais, but to get a nearly perfect Sub, you are going to have to make the mods.
  13. Gary Hoey. Endless Summer II But I'm sure none of you have ever hear of that. If you download "La Rosa Negra" you'll be hooked.
  14. Bald chicks are cool. I'll take Sinead O'Connor over Shakira in a heartbeat. Oh yeah... TRC. It's still down. Anyone know why?
