  1. On the old rep case, the crowns needed only minor mods to fit. If the new conq crown is too small, I don't see a problem wih enlarging the recess. I wonder if we have definitive word on the "gender" of the dials yet....
  2. Not to ruin anyone's vintage experience w/ some PC rant, but do we really want Nazi stuff engraved on the back of our watches? Didn't occur to me either until a friend of mine pointed it out.... Plus, unless you do some Nanuq magic on that watch who's going to believe that some German frogman wore that watch for his Fuhrer...
  3. I can only speak for the older model of Conq rep, but the dial fit fine. The OEM feet should match the 2892 version 1:1. Good luck on the crown--I bout 1 lot of muller crowns a long time ago, and have seen none before or since, searching at least an hour every weekend since I have three frankenmullers that need crowns.
  4. I'm still not too sure...that chrono still looks like a ladies dial because of the relationship of the subdial to the markings. I just measured my ladies' white chrono dial (every time I order a muller dial, my seller throws in a ladies dial free) and it is 31 X 25. I'd ask the seller to measure. I don't have an OEM-dialer conq any more, but I think the dial was bigger than the ladies chrono dial. Could be wrong though.
  5. And has the potential to be the most accurate 1st gen, ever. Granted, if anyone can put a major flaw in a 1st gen rep it's the panerai rep makers, but I don't see where they can find a place to do iton the dial side of this watch. Either its way on or way off. So Andrew, if we're going to do another SS/black Pam....this is the one.
  6. Genuine ladies Conquistador dials.
  7. A no brainer: ANY blue or anthracite dialed model. ANY titanium cased Automatic. I'd bet all my appendages that the dealer who supplies a run of of any of the above will make a mint since it would allow even people who have many pams to add variety to their collections, which consist of primarily SS whatches w/ black dials.
  8. Unless it was very recently, I think it was a scandal about them using Poljot 3133's in some of their chronos and giving them the same "FM" movement number as they did the watches powered by lemania 1873's. Muller is the kind of company that charges MORE for the king conquistador chrono, powered by a stock 7750, than they do for the regular Conquistador chrono, which has a FP 1185 inside! That's an expensive oz of stainless in the King-- and a bit of evil genious marketing bait and switch that, of course, goes unnoticed by 99% of the people who buy mullers.
  9. I don't know about Davidsenjpn's cases, but I've been told numerous times that the cases on handwind and auto pams are identiical, and that the backs make the difference. I can't back this up w/ experience, however.
  10. Did cartier change the size of the big model? I haven't measured my "2004" model but it seems like it's no bigger than 42mm. The cartier Santos rep is at least as accurate as the PAM 120 and the VC overseas IMO, and about in line w/ the PO so I see no reason to remove it from your list. BTW, where can you get the 38mm rep?
  11. I can only speak for the decorated "2892's" in high end Muller reps. Aside from being almost exact copies of muller movements (a sad comentary on the expense Muller puts into it's 10k watches, IMO) which are amazingly accurate. I bought three of them "loose" to put in frankenmullers, but until I can find a source for Muller-like hands have used them to replace the generic asian movements other reps. 2 of the three are COSC, the 3rd is close. These reps don't get a lot of wrist-time, but so far not a problem w/ reliability.
  12. Detailed, clear, thorough, called-like-it's-seen, typical The Zigmeister. ON EDIT: these are PAM's crowns, NOT palp's. That'd what I get for not reading the whole thread before posting. Sorry, guys.
  13. The mens' stuff on Replicasi doesn't seem like much of a bargain. After Xmas, I picked up an OEM mens' LV wallet similar to the one on the site @ Off 5th for not much more than the price of the rep. Wife says the ladies stuff looks good--she just ordered a coach purse & wallet and Fendi sunglasses--I'll post an update when they arrive.
  14. Looks like there would be subdial spacing problems w/ the 7753, since the PO rep probably uses the speedy mvmnt (somebody please tell me I'm wrong). Asia El Primero. Got a nice ring to it, doesn't it?
  15. Thanks guys....Very helpful! Sounds like he talked to his lawyer after he posted the item. Still, he has great feedback, and the watch is priced right, so I'm off to bid!
  16. Luminor, hands down. The crown guard, along with the size, are the signifiers of Panerai to me. Although, i've had a black seal, the non-chrono radiomirs are just too far to the "clean" side for me. If they would rep a radiomir chrono more acrately, though, I'd be all over it.
  17. Yes. No. it depends. If you just look at the ratio between cost and MSRP, yes. If you just look at supply/demand, no since people are apparently buying Mullers, etc. If a guy gets laid repeatedly or verifies his professional success to others or whatever other reasons people buy luxury goods, well..I guess it depends on how much he likes getting laid, verifying his professional sucess, etc. The bottom line is luxury watch makers stay in business because there are many people who think they are not overpriced. But thank god there are enough people who think they are over priced to support the rep industry, 'cause I definitely fall into the later category. BTW, if you absolutely have to have a gen luxury watch, look at JLC and Dubey & Schadelberand--I own gens of both because IMO they are the best values (if you can use that word in the same sentence w/ luxury watches) since the have all of the features the highest-end watches have (manufactured and/or highly decorated movements, near 100% high-quality hand craftsmanship, gorgeous design, and a respected name) for much less money.
  18. I'm a full-fledged PAM fanatic, but my other watches have absolutely no problem w/ wrist time. The way i see it--I wear PAM's as my big-stainless-steel-watch-with-black-dial days, my gen master hometime on my ss dress watch w/ silver dial days, my ETA santos 100 on my square Two tone watch days, etc. i could see limiting yourself to pams if they repped a wider variety of metal/dial combinations, but IMO life's too short to limit variety, especially w/ the number of sweet reps out there.
  19. Man, it's enough to make you weep. Think of all the gorgeour 7750/7753 watches that have been repped, some of them half decently even, with those moronic waste-of-everyone's-time day-date "chronos" The Picot le Plongeur Chrono, Chopards, muller King Conquistador chrono, GP's all come to mind. Christ, they's have to spend another, what, 10 bucks to put an asia 7750 in those watches? I just refuse to believe that anyone who buys a day date chrono would balk at spending a little more for working chronos and a little more attention to detail...
  20. The following text was inserted after i bid on an item in an Ebay auction, and I'm not quite sure what it means. Any help would be greatly appreciated since the google translation is jibberish... "Die Bilder zeigen die Uhr, die hier zum Verkauf steht, wird von Privat, wie abgebildet verkauft. Der Käufer verzichtet auf sein EU-Garantierecht bei gebrauchten Waren. Keine Rücknahme oder Umtausch. Ich garantiere die Richtigkeit sowie die oben gemachten Angaben zum Zustand und Technik der Uhr."
  21. Have you called all of your local watchsmiths? I bought one of the last "RWG" batch, but then managed to find another set by calling about 30 watch repair shops within a 100 miles. A guy in baltimore had a junk mvmnt w/ the long pin. The downside to plan a family trip to baltimore to have it installed!
  22. I'm w/pugwash--I would never buy a 7753 w/o a pic of the dial side of the movement (not covered by some faux dial). Plus, if this guy is selling a swiss 7753 for 200 bucks, he's sleeping.
  23. A good rule of thumb: Be wary of watches of which decent reps are available; the more accurate the available rep, the more wary you should be. A mint (new?) 001--no movement decoration problem, easy pin fix, aftermarket Pre-A guards and thick crowns for sale--offered at a lower than average price would make me very, very wary.
  24. He's probably not getting called out because nobody reads the "Look!! pics of my 111!!!" threads over at Paneristi. Who wants to see a pic of some watch you've seen 4, 567 times strapped onto some guy's hairy wrist? Kind of like the "My new black sub from Jos" threads around here. Do people actually read them? BTW, someone ought to ask that guy to see the back of his before the craze Florentine pam. Bet i can guess what the serial number is...
  25. IMO the stick on plates have two big advantages over the engraved bridges: 1) the engraving is much cleaner--probably because the factories do not have the technology required to engrave the bridges to OEM standards. 2)the alignment pins are not visible when the plates are used. Unless you remove the caseback so that people can inspect the movement under magnification, the plates are not visible as such--you need a loupe to tell the difference between the edges of the plates and beveling on an OEM movement. Davidsen, why can't they fix the engraving on the plates? Can you ask your engraver to make the plates correct for the next version? Why not put the letters in the same places as they appear on the OEM. Compare a rep and OEM movement, paying close attention to the top left row of "P-A-N-E-R-A-I" beneath the swans neck and you will se what I mean. Things to fix on the fiddy: 1)the engraving on the plates 2)a more subtle sunburst pattern on the gears 3)a swans neck Things to fix on the H series movements: 1) "officine panerai" the right size and font 2)swans neck 3)more subtle sunburst pattern on the gears Things to fix on the L-Swiss-L dials: 1)make a version w/ sausage numbers/markers in C3 superluminova 2)Make the "A's" look like the OEM dials, not the rep But here's the part we need the most: An accurate H series guard--the right size with the right aggressive brushing, NOT the too small size w/ wimpy brushing we get on our reps. I think we owe Davidsen a big thanks, buy way of ordering some of his parts. He is the first person to understand that there is a demand for specialized aftermarket rep parts for those of use who strive for perfection in our reps--and he's trying his best to meet that demand.
