  1. I also can't speak to the specific watches but in that price range you can get very nice watches that most gen owners would not distinguish from the gen unless they were told that one was a fake and they were placed side by side. In that case they would find differences - if they were looking VERY closely at a well-lit non-moving watch and they already KNEW or SUSPECTED it was a fake. Most of the watches in that price range cannot be id'd as reps while on the wrist. We see all the difference here - in watches that are illuminated, blown up 5-10 times life size, and with an opportunity to really STUDY them.

As to reliability - most of them are great and with servicing and repair can last indefinitely. All mechanical watches have to be serviced - gens too.

AR - depends on the particular rep.

Lume - most rep lume is not that great.

READ, use the search function, and you will learn more than you ever wanted to know about these watches.

    Good luck.

Couldn't've said it any better than that. Reps only tend to be questioned if they are Rolex ;) Or, as mentioned, if the person knows or suspects that it is a rep. Most of the time, people won't even notice if you're wearing a watch, let alone be able to identify it, and even then, an even smaller percentage who would even consider if it was a rep or not, let alone actually have the knowledge to identify it 'in the wild', rather than on the screen (with plenty of time for study ;) )

In terms of quality, I think Lord Rasta summed it all up perfectly. Expect the worst, and, most likely, you will be pleasantly surprized. Sure, we all occasionally wind up receiving a lemon, but, they're normally fixable or exchangeable, so even that isn't really an issue :)

Best of luck with your purchases :good:

  2. Obviously that is not right, you consider price because you buy reps not gens.

    :D

    :D

It is a consideration for what I buy, but not a consideration for what I like ;) TO me, the PO is a nicely designed watch. For example, I think the integral crown guards show an evolution of design from the CGs of the SMPs/Subs.

What the heck, I'll treat my 45 to a little wrist time

    [Edit to add]

I took it off again as the lume on my 104 is better

  3. How many of you guys are posting with gen pricing in mind vs. how many of you are posting in terms of I like it because it is $300? Kind of a weird question I know being that we are all here but it is always something I consider when purchasing a rep. I would never buy something way out of my gen price range like a PP or AP for this reason. I would rather buy another car than a gen of those. It just seems odd that as Omega is trying to go upmarket they release this kind of a tool watch. And no one has commented yet on the movement price hike because the Co-Axial is supposed to be the best movement since the invention of the sun dial (this is another reason I think you are all posting just in terms of it as a rep).

I thought of several tool watches I really like and thought of several "vintage throwback" watches I really like as well (Breitling SuperOcean Heritage for example). I can think of a ton of watches in gen price range of the PO that I would buy before the PO and I can think of a ton of reps in the $300 range that I go to before I go to my UPO.

Price isn't even a consideration to me. Rep or gen, I think the PO is a nice tool watch, and a nice design homage, regardless of what it cost :)

  4. With my 187-fantasy watch, (which had the compass bezel), rather than lose the markers randomly, I used a blade to prize them out, then the flat of a screwdriver to polish the indentations to a mirror shine. Not stock, not accurate, but, a solution I was happy with. Best of luck with a resolution :):good:

  5. Awesome result, he's well and truly fucked (and is likely going to be) so that'll teach him not to steal. Of course, Andy's suggestion of punishment is equally acceptable B)

At the end of the day, I know what you mean. It's one thing to steal a candy bar or a shirt from Wal*Mart, quite another to steal the parcels you're being paid to look after. I'm sure punishment will be suitably meted out :)

  6. He sent me the drawing of the new caseback and it has error because I gave him the 224 caseback picture :)

I ask him to correct it and he is cool with it.

The caseback will be done this Saturday. I post the picture of the new caseback that he will send me.

It is too early to say but in 4 days we will know the result.

Regardless, he is very responsive. He always answer my email in the same day even I only ping him anxiously waiting for my watch and ask him stupid questions.

    Awesome result :good:

  7. Hi noob.

    Herey herey

I em not talking about all the reps, i em talking about hustling you now like drug dealers giving you cocaine they say is 80% pure and it turns out you paid a premium for 40% crap mixed whit all kind of garbage.

Thats have they are doing on the Asian 7750 they sell you crap for 450-1100$ for the price of Swiss 7750 Quality..

You see this forum is here to help members not dealers if some like Dave enjoy spending and can afford this high priced reps then fine for him but not all can or are willing to spend 700 on something that shoud cost maximum of 400..

My collection is all Swiss movements that can be serviced and use spare parts hens they have some value something a 7750 Asian does not..

    Cheers

    +1

(although only one of my collection has a Swiss movement... The Submariner I never wear because it keeps worse time than my Asians, and, being a sub, looke like a woman's watch compared to a PAM  )

  8. In all fairness, an increase by that amount, might be to compensate for the weak dorrar at the moment. Not to defend the Cartel, of course, but, I know prices on things are going up at the moment. Of course, it could be an attempt to sneak in a small price increase, if it's tollerated, increase it a bit more... Thin end of the wedge, and all that... ;) Of course, two sides to every story :)

  9. I dont agree with this HU..Yes we are buying a rep from China but come on, that cant be an excuse anymore, as we are not buying 50$ a pop crap watches anymore..Look at the current level of super reps (Outside the pams, the grahams, the breitlings)..For a guy that specializes in just pams(10 years of ideas?) Dont you find the notches, the off centered crowns a bit silly? He basically sends out hundreds of defective cases and probably gets away with the majority of them.

Saying this, I still love the watch, even with the defects...All Im saying is he needs to up the QC and the people skills. Surely that cant hurt now can it...

    +1

Other reps from other dealers manage to arrive without off-set crowns, so what's DSN's has excuse? As Farquar mentioned, he is sending out defective goods, and getting away with a majority of them. If someone complains, fine, they get a replacement. If there's no complaint, then no harm no foul as the person's happy. But. That still means that, happy or not, they received a defective case.

  10. Not trying to defend him but only want to share my experience:

I just ordered the PAM228 from him 3 weeks ago. I told him that the caseback is wrong. After many emails exchange, he agreed to make a new caseback to correct his reps.

You just have to ask him nicely.

That's good to hear. Is he sending you one to correct the issue with your 228?

  11. Just got my PAM115 and PAM218A from DSN, and his stuff is the shiz; he even threw in an extra strap (rubber tang dive), a OP pre-V buckle, and a spare mint condition PAM115 dial.

    He is the bomb!

    Hi Fred,

Welcome to the party :) With the greatest of respect, people have suffered deals at DSN than ran into thousands of dollars (on individual deals, not accumulative value all together). I'm happy to hear that your deal went through smoothly, but, please understand, that there are others who have been seriously displeased with their deals with DSN, not only for some time now, but with alarming frequency. As above, pics of the stuff would be great :good:

  12. I guess I will go with the nylon strap and the kevlar strap from Angus which looks really nice ! Anyway, after what I read straps for panerai are made to be switched

That's for sure, and one of the great things about PAMs. Several different straps, can make a single watch suitable for many different wardrobes or occasions. If you plan frequent strap changes, it might be worth investing in a set of River's springbars. When in place, they look like the stock screwbars, but are easy to swap, and won't strip the threads ;)

I'll try and get some pics of my 104 on nylon posted up later :)

  13. I have worn my 177h on the rep nylon from Reg and found it very nice , comfortable and sporty looking

I wore my 104 on another of Narikaa's nylon straps for most of the weekend, and, not only is it comfortable, it does not detract from the appearance of the watch.

Another good option is the rubber dive straps :good:

  14. OK I just don't see it? Look at the where the DSN Crown covers the Base of the watch and then where at the top it meets the bezel? its the same as the HR , I think its the CG , can you put the HR CG on the DSN? What does that look like.

Dude, have another look at the base of the crown in both pics ;). In the top picture, it is pretty much inline with the base of the case. In the bottom picture, it's inline with the back of the edge of the caseback... That's quite a difference in allignment... :o
