  1. There've been tons of Pre-V posts recently. I'm loving it. In that spirit I thought I'd share some pics of a few of my dial finish jobs. A few months back, I had a few FGD dials that needed refinishing. Projectologist shared a tip with me about Tamiya TS-79 semi gloss. What a great piece of advice. I've never held a gen dial but apparently those that have swear TS-79, when applied properly, produces the closest finish to gen. The finish on the gen dial is produced by bead blasting the brass dial and then anodizing it. So to achieve that fine texture out of a spray can, the trick I use is to warm up the paint in warm tap water. I think this helps with lowering the viscosity of the paint and helping it to aerosolize. I use about 6 passes from about 12 inches away at several different directions to get a good even coat. Here's my most recent it started out as a totally bare FGD 202. No paint fill, no finish only the printing. I sent it to a master on HF to work the non matching lume and then sprayed it with the TS-79. Same story on my FGD 203a Get spraying!
  2. Don't tell me this is a converted alarm sf240? Amazing. Zig did the conversion?
  3. This build is astonishing. Thanks for sharing these great pics. How did you source all of these parts?
  4. I hope everyone realizes what they are looking at here. This is basically a gen dial. S- this is unimaginable quality. If I didn't have so much invested in my Pre-V builds, I would be all over this. I can't wait for your next project with Rolli. You guys are DANGEROUS for my petty cash.
  5. Lol. I wish! This one belongs to Projectologist Mine will follow around the first of the year;)
  6. The title of your post says it all. There's nothing more to do there. Amazing build!
  7. Mel that last combo with the shark strap hits the nail on the head! Amazing! Beautiful results.
  8. So geeked out right now. I can't wait to find these masterpieces in my mailbox
  9. Toro will sell you a Noob CG for sure. Just ask. I think it's $40 plus shipping.
  10. I had a feeling it is *THAT* CG. I have every Pre-V CG in recent history but that one: V, LH, Goin, DSN. They are all just sad pretenders compared to the "CG that shall not be named". The closest I can come with stock parts is a DSN with a Sead lever.
  11. How dare you sir! These are clearly pics of a gen dial!!! One thing is clear, those with doubts can calm down and the people who backed out can come back begging for a second chance. SD proved himself to be a master artist! Beautiful work SD! By the way UBI what CG is that on your 201a? It's one of the finest examples I've seen. That lever tip is solid!
  12. SD Payment sent for my 202A NM. Can't wait to see my next two.
  13. she's a beauty...that w0lf reshape really sets the watch head and shoulders above the rest.
  14. SD please change my order. I will take one of the cancelled 202a non matching dials instead of the 201a non matching on line 46. Please confirm and I will send payment now.
  15. And here's another gen with thicker markers and numbers. There was clearly a fair amount of manufacturing variation
  16. I would call this a binding sign up list, but if anyone wants to flake out on a 202a non matching feel free to let SD sell it to me;)
  17. SD it looks like people would like to see the finished dials....LOL Patience! Let the master work!
  18. Careful SD!!!! The 203 205 and 218 orders are going to come flying in! You will be back logged for the next year:) Brilliant stuff my friend!
  19. You have done nothing here but make me MORE excited for the finished product. I can't wait! The number shape and thickness is perfect.
  20. SD add a 201a matching to my order. Also.....no worries, take your time. We will wait happily for these damn near gen dials.
