  1. Can we make all of w0lf's builds stickies in the Panerai area? It's a shame that these things have to be saved in my favorites and not seen by everyone that visits the Panerai section. Seriously. Amazing stuff.
  2. ^^^^^ THIS My build spec Case: H factory V1, slightly polished rehaut (It should be more matte than mirror) Crystal: Noob V3 Hands: Rolli/FGD Crown/Tube: DSN Caseback: DSN (May upgrade to Jakob, but DSN is REALLY Good for the money!!!) Movement Swiss ETA 6497 with H1 CP, flattened and polished CG: Mystery, but I'm starting to believe I have an Eddie Lee from the pics I've studied Enjoy your build. I love mine!
  3. You could be feeling the spring action of the crown because the movement has shifted ever so slightly inside the case, causing the crown to be out of alignment with the tube. A loose movement tab could cause this. Or you could have a crown that is coming unwound from the stem. Both are easy to fix. Ideally you could open her up and have a look. remove the stem and have a look in the tube. Make sure the stem port is dead center in the tube. If it is then try to unwind the crown from the stem, then rewind it back on making sure not to cross thread. Don't force the crown into place. It could break, but lucky for you there are lots of people here that have replacements.
  4. Easy fix for anyone that has ever assembled a watch. If this were a gen you would get it soldered, but for a rep, you use some 3m clear removable 2 sided tape, essentially dial dots, but far less expensive.
  5. That looks like DSN. but I can't tell for sure without better pics. He sells crowns for about $30 each. What happened to your crown?
  6. Rolli I am already procuring parts for this build. Can't wait. Tobacco T dial rep second to none!
  7. SD WE APPRECIATE YOUR EFFORTS HERE!!! No doubt this was a huge undertaking. And like with any project there will be unforeseen hang ups. To me the serifs are a selling point, but only a small one. We have never had them to date anyway. Hopefully people will keep this in mind before canceling. You have still created an excellent dial with lume, deep indices, varnish fill and nice lacquer finish. Congrats!!!
  8. Snapped off center wheel post for sure. Fix it for fun and practice, or just buy a new A6497
  9. Those are the best shots I've seen of the Rolli dial. The macros tell the whole story. BTW, which CG is that?
  10. Thanks G! I have done the most with this one. It's approaching "gen feel" status;) I found a similar picture today with a 9 that doesn't curl as much. There were definitely variations as Pete, Rolli, and FGD sight.
  11. Rolli, I have built almost exactly what you describe above, it is truly awesome! H factory case DSN crown and tube Old A-F CG,( body is better than Sead's in my opinion!) Noob crystal (I like the clarity and truly colorless AR, looks like non-AR.) You have described the perfect specs for a great build!
  12. A Gen box is not that much more expensive relative to the quality. I wouldn't touch one these rep boxes. Way overpriced.
  13. Thanks S! Much appreciated. The more I wear this watch, the more I love it!
  14. Speaking of H factory cases.... I think I am finally "done" with this watch. Here's the new recipe all H factory V1 case Drilled out and added DSN Pre-V crown and tube Polished rehaut Ultra clear Noob crystal Swiss 6497 with decorated plates H1 CP flattened, polished Mystery cartel CG, polished body Flattened and polished CG pin DSN caseback (surprisingly accurate) Good bye ugly H factory hex tube!!! After I installed the crystal I realized I should have polished the rehaut a little more. Maybe later... Flattened and polished CG pin H factory lug profile versus gen 6502 Gen 6502...looks pretty close Pretty happy with this build. I think it's a keeper;) Many thanks to Rolli and FGD
  15. DSN is the best current source for out-of-the-box a series. But the CG okay at best and the crown is not accurate. If you want to take your time and source some parts, H factory V1 seems like the best way to go as suggested earlier in this thread by Mir. KW makes a PVD case with a nice thin lug profile that is a bit closer to A series 6502.
  16. Serifs? YES! Good font thickness? GREAT! Correct number shape? PERFECT! Wow! Looks good to me sir! A Lucky man will get that 203/a dial;)
  17. DSNs PVD is not very tough....give it a funny look and it will scratch. With that said, Sharpie makes fine tip paint pens in many different shades of gray. Try it out.
  18. Don't let him rip you of on the job. This is a 10 minute fix for an experienced modder, let alone a Pro watchsmith.
  19. Great news Rolli! Best wishes for a return on your investment.
  20. How far are we away from an actual 8 day movement coming from our friends in China? I can dream right?
  21. Thanks Rolli! My question was rhetorical about "Tritec lume". I still think it's amazing that you have the contacts to get this done. I know tritium is not possible, but if it were I know you would be the guy to make it happen!!! Can't wait to see photos of your next project!
  22. I agree it is special! Rolli I have a question...how does one develop the vast numbers of contacts and relationships necessary to build a swiss made dial with authentic Tritec lume? It was no doubt easy and occurred overnight;) I have decided to keep the watch as an 002 I have an H factory case (looks like V1? please see above) waiting for me to do the swap. This dial is great, I have no regrets about investing in your project On a heroic18 historic...great strap DSN makes a pretty decent A series caseback as well. With a little polishing on the outside lip, it would look even better
