Pan 092 Arktos can hear counter weight
Grimlocktime replied to shariq786's topic in The Panerai Area
Nothing is wrong. I think you're referring to rotor wobble. -
Yikes! Get a photobucket account. The 104 from noob or H factory is well worth 180. But I can't tell from your picture what I'm looking at.
-
Congrats! The 111 is a beauty! It is one of the gens I will never buy because the rep is so darn good. Enjoy.
-
this is either real or one of the best frankens ever built. Gen dial (or 1:1 rep dial of unknown maker) Lume seems to be the over-filled/slightly puffy version, also notice the slight gloss from the varnish on the numbers. gen hands with greenish T-lume I have a set of these on my franken 10A gen movement gen CG (or so close that it is indistinguishable) caseback is not a Jakob, so easily could be gen, or maybe old Eddie Lee The only thing that could be rep on this watch is the case/crystal, but we can't tell without a straight on lug shot I'd love to own a 001 T dial someday.

Toro will be sending you a V3, the M series is no longer available. Go ahead and post your pics. But there is nothing to look for in regards to movement detailing and serial numbers. Really you are lookring for scratches or dings, chewed up screw heads, dial printing that is off, stuff like that. Be careful with Toro's QC guy....He'll show you a watch that looks like it's been scraped against a stucco wall and say "This is a rep. Don't be picky"

My new Toro Bravo Bronzo on limited edition Gunny leather
Grimlocktime replied to Jkay's topic in The Panerai Area
Who the hell is the sorry SOB buying rep underwear? This is hilarious! -
This is awesome. I was really disappointed to see how poorly executed the V1 was. I was hoping for a V2! Great stuff.

Got this panerai dial off the bay... Need ID
Grimlocktime replied to Grehale's topic in The Panerai Area
If its black, then indeed that would be the 312. But again, you can get this relumed, or maybe even do it your self. Separate the two plates and relume the bottom. -
Excuse me while I drool on your Avitt. Ya know, that DSN might be worth getting lumed. Those indices would look a helluva lot better filled up. I bet that would make a pretty good Pre-A

No sir, the 312 is black. You hold in your paw a 351 dial. I saw that on eBay too, but passed because the lume is bolloxed. Not sure what in the hell could cause that bubbling in the surface of the lume. I would send that to Goin for some magic lume treatment. This plus a KW 351 will get you a nice Franken -
Hahaha, this is in your fantasy world.

Stunning work Rolli! Beautiful! By the way, my Franken 010A is complete and your 002A dial stands up to the gen dial in every way.

This is awesome w0lf. Thanks! I ended up purchasing a few H2 sets and taking the hour wheels to a local jeweler for gold plating...$10 and 2 minutes later, I now have a gold plated hour wheel:) My movement should arrive from Marlin tomorrow. I will be assembling tomorrow night!

The DSN buckle does not look like that. Rolli, I know where to get the panerai engraved thumbnail http://tpdventures.ecrater.com/p/10489152/22mm-titanium-fingernail-buckle-brushed-for Or fish tail: http://tpdventures.ecrater.com/p/12886787/22mm-titanium-pre-v-fishtail-buckle

Z factory Pam382 CuSn8 case vs GEN Comparison
Grimlocktime replied to sigfrieds's topic in The Panerai Area
I'd have to say the one on the right is gen. The markers tell the story. -
I'm guessing there are members (marlin) willing to do some engraving on H Factory Ti cases. This would also be a great opportunity for Gordon to add a new engraving service.
-
Still to be seen if this is a Bronzo, or a Brasso. I'm guessing Brasso.

After 180 days including 40 days for delivery, my dials finally arrived. Deep indices, Varnish fill, great lume color (yes they are lumed) 201/A: this one caused every one to cancel their orders... Your loss. I think it looks great. The font is not as crisp as gen and there is only a hint of serif, but this isn't a gen. I'll proudly wear this Logo dial 202/A Non-matching: very faint lume due to the paint used to produce the non matching color.... the semi gloss finish on this one is probably the best of the set. Not sure if this will replace my Southy, but it will make some one very happy, no doubt. 203/A: this one was a special request. And I must say, it is nearly perfect. Font is crisp with nice serifs, lume is perfect, number shape is perfect. Wow! Thanks SD for the amazing dials!

Agreed, the 10A dial I just purchased is very thick and the H2 will offer minimal clearance. But isn't that that A Series Panerai style? The minute hands on photos I have studied, look VERY close to the dial.
-
Thanks Rolli and w0lf. Is it ridiculous for me to assume that the – 1 and – 2 hour wheels are interchangeable? This is kind of funny. I jumped the gun and took an H1 hour wheel to a jeweler to be gold plated. Only cost $10. It's a decent option for those that already have the correct HW
-
I need an expert to chime in and help me with my 10A Franken build. What is the correct cannon pinion height for an A Series Panerai base dial? H1 or H2?
-
My dials have been in route since Feb 10th. Anyone else get their dial yet? Any pics to share? Actually even better would be for SD to check in on his thread and share some pics;)

PAM 252 North Pole GMT - in need of new CG...source?
Grimlocktime replied to hackR's topic in The Panerai Area
Is this an H factory case? Or an older cartel version -
Rolli, my friend! I was wondering where you had gone! Any news to share?

I'll give SD the benefit of the doubt here because he's the one doing the work and not me. But I see your point. The lack of comms and updates on this thread are a little strange. This thread and project in general had a lot of excitement until his pad printer crapped the bed. I still look forward to my dials. I've got an amazing grail Southy with some imperfection in the print, so I'm not scared of that. I build watches for personal enjoyment on the wrist more than under the loupe.
