  1. DSN has two versions, the new, non matching V3 and the old matching dial with greenish lume, a bit like the color of a yellowish green booger, not very attractive or gen like. His dial does however have nice font and decent number shape. It compares to the thin version of the gens. You'd be we'll served to get it relumed.
  2. DSN's QC is basically if you aren't happy then he sends you a new one. There is very little proactive checking on his part. With that being said, he is great about quickly sending replacements. As far as the dial goes. There is a member on several of these forums called Goin He will relume the dial for you for $80 He does great work.
  3. I've got the 299K, It's an amazing rep. Enjoy it. You will find many haters of Panerais on bracelets, but the noob bracelet is extremely high quality and very accurate. You can't go wrong!
  4. Bad points....hold on for the next few hours while I try to search for something bad;) What a beautiful piece of work!
  5. Elias is a class act! I've got big plans for mine! Check out this monster 26mm Pre-V fantasy buckle. Awesome!
  6. Mir, as luck would have it, I have an H factory with a DSN tube installed! I am just waiting on my crystal press from watchbitz so I can finish up. This might be a recent H factory however, I don't know. What do you think about the lug shape? 111J on the top, H Fac on the bottom.
  7. Forgive the stupid question, but you did these mods yourself? WOW! What crystal is that?
  8. Thanks for these pictures Mir! I've got a few in the mail! I Can't wait, these in person!
  9. Penerai1950- PM Rolli, he will get you squared away.
  10. One thing I just noticed, you could use an H1 CP set. The Hands are sitting WAY above the face. Gen 202/a used an H1 according to the reading I've done on RWG. I've got an H1 if you want to trade yours for mine, PM me.
  11. I actually relumed a set of DSN hands with holio lume. It's nice lume. I found that its easiest to totally strip the hands with paint thinner, repaint them with matte black, then Relume them. Mix the lume really well first. Make sure there are no lumps. Totally do this!!! Or just buy the Helena Rou super lume Pre-V hands. Either way I agree that the DSN hands look too tan.
  12. Sweet dial C! Probably shouldn't have been so quick to get rid of it! Which hands are those?
  13. I'm posting this everywhere because Rolli and FGD have done an amazing job. Do yourself a favor and pick up one of these dials. When I heard FGD and Rolli were working on a new dial project, I was immediately curious. After I saw the pics, I was sold. The dial is an A series 002 or 009 depending on whether you decide to go stainless or PVD. But this isn't your typical dial. Not only is it extremely accurate, but it is SWISS MADE in every sense. It is made from milled solid brass, which is then beadblasted and anodized to produce the gen sheen. They then had it lumed with authentic Swiss Tritec tritium colored super lume. The thing that attracted me to this dial is the fact that it does not seek to copy a Gen. Instead Rolli and FGD have replicated a gen by recreating not only the look, but the manufacturing process and the materials of a gen Panerai dial. WOW I will let the pictures speak for themselves... Used brass clock parts indeed;) Deep indices filled with Tritium colored Tritec lume Time to get building. The decorations on this Swiss 6497 is close to A Series, but not exact...ill live with close enough. Flattened and polished CP I tried it out in an 009 build, but the H Factory case is just too black. Decided that the stainless 002 build was the way to go until I can get a proper PVD case Looks great on the Paci's olive shark made from left over original Pre-V hides. Amazing Gen sheen from anodized beadblasted brass. I've heard you guys like lume? Gen reference photo Pretty damn close to gen if you ask me More builds coming! Including a Franken sub!
  14. Hey Fitch! Is this what you had in mind? (Looking solid on my Paci original hide khaki shark.) This is now my second favorite build;)! I've still got a soft spot for my 203a... Gentleman, buy this dial with confidence.
  15. I could not resist this dial. I decided to sell a few watches to own this. Here are my two main reasons for making this purchase. 1. This is a 1:1 replica created in the Swiss standard that not only reproduces the look, but the also the process in which the original was made. 2. The sooner Rolli and FGD get the return on their investment, the sooner they can start on their next Pre-V project. Let's support this effort! Amazing work gentlemen!
  16. Seeing these pics makes me wonder why I would ever consider a gen. Gorgeous build w0lf
  17. I completely respect your opinion Mir, but I don't think I'm being that generous. Also, clearly FGD is an uncontested legend. That was never in dispute. They are amazing. And honestly if the new FGD/Rolli Pre-V project every comes to reality, This dial will be replaced again. Look the Southy dial isn't perfect. When you look at it magnified, there are a couple of letters that are a little shaky...but on the wrist, wow! The thick indices and accurate faded tritium color POPS! I love it! Here's the picture that launched my Pre-V Mission Here's the picture I took this morning...pretty darn close... and next up is to get my 111J PVD coated. And thanks for the tip on not spraying the TS-79:) Not to worry, the only dials I have sprayed were either unfinished or needed it due to some scuffing.
  18. SD is a very busy guy right now! Did anyone get a shipment confirmation or receive their dials recently?
  19. You might be wondering, when you look at these pics, where the hell I got a gen 203a dial.... I just got this in the mail from Southy. Seriously. It is everything I was hoping for in my quest for a grail 203a. The man is a master. The depth of his indicies...the creamy faint tritium lume withe varnish fill...The perfect sheen...The super thick, correctly shaped numbers and indicies.... AMAZING. I am lucky to count myself as an owner of one of the finest 203a ever built. Also in this early Christmas package...a Southy 205a dial. Southy even was able to give the 203a some faded tritium lume....very faint and very close to gen. 205a on the left 203a on the right. Southy's got a few dials left....message him at HF!
  20. This may be a "low grade rep" but man, what a cool watch. I love the detail on that case back.
  21. Bump to keep this on the front page. Any updates for us SD?
  22. Try warming the paint first. It does great things! Just 5 minutes in 105-110 (deg F) tap water and you're good to go! I've done four dials with this method. All with the same results.
