  1. Ok then - onto the block she goes! If anyone here is interested i'll give RWG'ers first crack before I put it on EBay. I'll get some pics later on today to put up.
  2. Wow, these have skyrocketed in price! I have one that I have never mounted, bought it about 1.5 years ago. I just looked at ebay to see 2 - one current bid at $315 and one buy it now for $550! Im thinking I should sell it to pay for another watch or maybe some mods to my MBW - what do you guys think? Or should I just put it on my MBW?
  3. The whole thing is quite humorous, the reality is that the gen snobs are simply fooling themselves. The BELIEVE that replicas are poor quality. They BELIEVE that they are better people for wearing gens. All in all, they don't have a grasp on the reality of the markets. I lifted this quote from TZ - I imagine that the guy bought a poor quality Navi replica and he's still impressed. Imagine if he got a hold of one that our dealers sell. "Fake watches Jan 23, 2007 - 12:19 AM Go to next message Hi everyone, for the summer, I went to Hong Kong for the first time in my life.. and I was surprised at the amount of fake watches being sold in HK and China... it was literally everywhere.. they had booths setup with watch magazines, and you can just point to what you want to see and they'd bring it out from the back... Im the proud owner of a blue superocean and I kinda got into watches just before leaving for HK. I dont support counterfeit merchandise, but I couldnt resist buying a Breitling Navitimer... it was only $30 canadian... Just wondering how they keep the prices so low... there are some poor quality fake watches in HK, but I looked around till I saw one that was a pretty good quality. PS. I do know that all fake watches are poor quality. I noticed that with almost all fake chronographs, the 3 dials are for date and not a timer... but I mean, still... $30 for an automatic watch is not a bad deal... most people cant tell my watch is a fake, so I usually have to tell them... I feel bad but I find myself wearing the Navitimer more and leaving the superocean at home. Im only 22 and the superocean was a gift and I treasure it too much to risk getting scratched or anything like that... anyways, wanted to know your opinions on how the price is fairly low considering how much work goes into making an automatic watch, compared to something like a timex..." The guy is wearing his rep over his gen - and a cheap rep at that. Sounds like a closet rep fan that could be brought over fairly easily. I found myself doing the same thing. I am fortunate in that I can afford some gens - honestly they get less and less wrist time however. It's a battle that will rage for a long time to come.

    Gen Rolex

So for Christmas my wife got me a 1665 DRSD. I LOVE the watch and haven't been able to remove it. The rest of my collection is busy gathering dust. My wife likes it so much that she told me to go buy a gen Rollie - Seadweller or a Submariner. In terms of collectability, which is the best watch to get for the 3k range?
  5. Hey Z, AMAZING restoration, I am further convinced that you are one of the last masters of the dying art of watchmaking. I thought you might find this interesting.... http://cgi.ebay.com/ROLEX-VINTAGE-SUBMARIN...1QQcmdZViewItem I think your dial is significantly better than this one, with a new bezel insert I would imagine it's worth more than this one.....
  6. I recieved my Tropic 39 today from my ebay win and I have a few questions. The bag pictured in the add is a green wax bag, the one it came in is red print. I don't know enough about Rolex to tell authenticate that it's the gen crystal. Can anyone give me some pointers on how to veryify its gen? Thanks, M5
  7. The cannon pin, the center pic that holds the hour and minute hands on, is too short. There is a fix, The Zigmeister and a few other can do it. Longer pin needs to be installed, hands cut down a bit, etc. One of the things that the Paneristi look for in reps.
  8. Wow - I stole the thing! http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...em=260057139637 Im so happy - modding will soon take over my life and the assimilation will be complete.....
  9. Ho Ho HOLY Christmas Santa! I love the new look. Gotta buy some lotto jackpot tickets!
  10. What a BEAUTY! Im all over one of those!
  11. I'll try to narrow it to 5 but it's tough... Eddie Lee cause he's my GUY! MU to figure out who she / he / it is (No offense MU, you know I love you... ) Luckyyy and Blade to beat some ASS Nanuq and Ubi to talk vintages with The Zigmeister because he's the MOD GOD!
  12. The 16710 GMT Master II used a new calibre movement (3085) which allowed the hour hand to be moved forwards and backwards at one hour intervals.
  13. He said he has a Tropic 39 SD for $185 - NOS in the wax. Sounds like a pretty good deal to me - what do the experts think? No one else jump on it though! Its Mine!
  14. Congrats on finding your part Lions! In his email I got he said that all his parts are gen.
  15. Called him and he definetley is. Asked me to email my list of parts I am looking for. Of course these are for the 1665 that my Grandfather left me in his will...
  16. 1665 as it doesnt even have a crown right now. It looks naked and lonely.....
  17. Ever wonder if there are locations that just have piles and piles of gen vintage Rolex parts sitting in boxes just waiting to be sold? I found this location and holy [censored]!
