I got salmonella when I was home for Thanksgiving. It was awful! I soldiered through and didn't eat for 50 hours. After I was able to keep liquid down, gatorade was great.
I'm no expert on these models but that does not look right. I wonder if the crystal is properly seated? I would send an e-mail and ask, but failing that it might be worth seeing if someone can press it.
I actually do not know what movement ring would be best for this case in particular. You might be best off trying to source all your parts from the same person, as that way you can be a little more sure that components like movement rings and dials/movements/cases will fit together. Once again, I'd recommend helenarou for a sort of budget exploratory build like this
Definitely worth taking on if you think you'll learn something from it. You'll have to try and find a dial that fits the case, with dial feet for a 2836: Dial openin: 27.4mmMaximum dial diameter: 29.5 So find a dial with those dimensions. Try looking at "helenarou," just google the name and you'll see the results. They sell branded dials, not just sterile, if you want to go with branded. From there, look at the size of your hands and see if they will fit the dial appropriately (not reach too far onto the indices or not far enough).
Nice build. You could argue that the price was just shy of a gen 5513, sure, but IMO there is a lot of emotional investment that goes into building a watch like this. It's not worth it for everyone, but some really enjoy it.
My very gen, very original, and unpolished Breguet Type XX. This is a first edition from 1995, very difficult to find with all first edition components (gold-capped crown, uncrossed T dial, dual fold clasp, and 20 ATU water resistance). Thanks for looking
I wonder if you could try powdered graphite, careful application with a qtip or swab? It's available at most hobby shops as powdered graphite is actually a lubricant.
Ran into a big roadblock. Neckyzips told me a set of custom hands would cost as much as a gen sub, so I'm a little lost on where to go from here. Does anyone know where I could source these hands? CWP?
No worries mate, I appreciate the effort in searching! I appreciate your advice. I'll do some searching for something with the right case shape. Once the dial design is done I'll work on putting some of the details together and send you a PM!
A new dial altogether might be an ok route to go. I'm not sure who I might approach about a refinish here; the nameless one is the best at the job, but I don't know if he works with commandos. Any suggestions on a particular reference for a 34mm precision? Thank you for the direction
Nice! Thanks jelliottz. Sourcing that case will make it easier to find out the dial diameter. Once that is sourced I'll get the dial made. Neckyzips suggested the hands might be available off the shelf but Im not so sure so I'm hoping if they're not available he can make me some!
I agree Frazzle. Seems like Rolex was looking out for our GIs. Alex, I agree. I'm hoping whoever I am able to work with for a case will have some information on how to make the case/movement workable. I'm hoping that if I use a thin movement and remove the auto wind module it will work out.
