  1. And here is a Gen crystal profile for comparison with the above pictures.
  2. I thought that the Illumines Dot for Bezel Insert, http://www.ofrei.com/page_151.html, is just the dot. Can you confirm this. And thanks for your pictures and sharing of information. Eric.
  3. This is great info and considering I looked at a Gen SD at Tourneau last night $$$$$$$. I've been comparing the inserts from Frank's pictures (rep and gen replacement). They look very close. Would purchasing a Illumines Dot for Bezel Insert from Ofrei, http://www.ofrei.com/page_151.html, and installing that in the stock bezel work?????
  4. Thanks drop that sounds like a good plan.
  5. diesel, aligoat: Thanks for taking the time to reply. I've looked up those parts and the gen parts are more than I want to invest in this watch. I think I'll stick with Clarks Parts and be happy. I'm torn between spending a lot upgrading a rep when I can use that money and save towards a new P.O or a gen modern seadweller - which is something I would like to hand down to the boy. Also I have limited time. But now that I've fixed my bracelet end-piece on the 1655 I'm sure enjoying looking at it on my wrist!
  6. I'm sourcing parts for my MBW 1665GW project. Is this the correct tube and crown set? Appreciate your feedback. http://cgi.ebay.com/Rolex-Submar-S-S-watch...1QQcmdZViewItem
  7. Care to post your opinion and pictures on how they look in person. Thanks.
  8. sell them all and get a gen 111
  9. Nevermind, a little household oil dripped into the bezel seems to have smoothed things up nicely.
  10. I've considered sinking money into my rep PO, but you can find them new for $2300USD and used for $1999. This is one watch that I would like own the gen and keep for a long time. I finally got to hold the gen at a jewelry store and it felt and looked better than the rep in the minor details. Yeah sell the junk laying around your house and get the gen and then post some pix!
  11. After a summerful of swimming and pooling I can barely turn my 42 PO's bezel. Maybe it's corrosion from saltwater, but I need to pull it off and see what's going on. I've already destroyed a spring bar tool in trying and don't want to scratch the watch. Any suggestions on how to pull the dam thing off? Appreciate it.
  12. Put me down for one for my Ollech & Wajs Mirage III.
  13. I'm on vacation in San Diego right now, and in the water 3 times a day and then bathing the kids, more water, either with my 42 orange PO and MBW Great White. Sorry no pix but these watches are waterproof!!!!
  14. reviving an old thread but this is The Best Diver I have ever seen! When can we get a rep! http://forums.timezone.com/index.php?t=tre...64042&rid=0
  15. The diver's extension on the bracelet on my 42 PO didn't close well and in general I find the bracelet a little uncomfortable. I switched to Hadley Roma with orange accents or rubber with orange accents or orange carbon (all through global watch band), which looks really cool. I think the watch just looks better on a strap. As someone else mentioned, on a strap the orange bezel just pops out contrasting the nice black dial. My PO gets 80% wrist time. The bezel insert is now a bit scratched up so I'm considering ordering a new insert in both black and orange from trusty and switching out from time to time. Mine is waterproof as well. and I have been meaning to go to an AD and try the 45 to see if it's too big.
  16. Well I did it, some of it at least. I did some distressing last night using a cookie tin full of screws and bolts. It was so loud that my wife said that it was distressing her. For the back I removed the paint using a toothbrush and acetone. I tried using CLOROX on the bezel, but it doesn't have enough bleach to do anything, so I'll have to get bleach tonight. Here's the results. The caseback: HE valve:
  17. thanks, I'll work on this tonight!!!
  18. I also recently received the same watch from TTK. That's exactly how I want mine to look like! I'm going to try the bleach tonight and I have a new bottle of acetone. Couple o' questions: 1. Did you throw the whole bezel with insert into the bleach? 2. How did you get the distressing on the watch case without removing all the parts? I don't have a rolex case opener yet, but want to get started. What tools did you use? 3. The HE valve looks great! What did you do to make it look that way? 4. Finally, Is that just a really old black NATO strap, or did you age that as well, how? Great job!
  19. Looking to get the mid-priced one for the wife. Has anyone bought one who could review with pictures how the ceramic holds up? Thanks.
  20. was that a gen crystal? like $300 gen?
  21. same strap:
  22. I don't know the details of the arrangements, but it was probably like you say, a big payout and no royalties. I on the otherhand get paid $100 a song in the studio (usually a whole album at once), but he did give me a $250 bonus, which went straight to bills
  23. I'm playing the bass, but my bandmate/singer who wrote the song got paid $50,000. Imagine the watches you could buy with that kind of dough. I'm pretty sure he's not into watches. I think he said after taxes, he was going to redo his kitchen. Here's the link
  24. If anyone has pictures of a J12 on other bands please post.
