  1. Since this project has a closed case-back, I am not overly concerned about the movement being accurate. First of all I am not spending any more money to power this rocket and secondly I have two great movements that were both purchased from t. These are the two movements below; which would you choose? Movement # 1: Movement # 2: Thank you in advance for you opinions!

  3. @bruce 79 Great photos! @bruce79 and Stephane It looks like you have similar straps on this beautiful timepiece; do you mind reveling your source? Sorry but I just noticed that it is a Di-Modell Chronissimo Do they have a web-site? @Stephane Who varnished your dial? @Capice after a trip North for crystal swap and a return to NY, I will have all the spare parts needed to assemble a 3717 complete with SS band and two leather straps. Send a PM if you are interested.

  12. lanikai, I hope you did not take this the wrong way. I certainly appreciate the extra attention you have given to our family here. I just feel that in certain circumstances our members need a little special "thank you" for going that extra mile. Peace brother!

  16. I was so impressed with the double AR on my IWC GST, from chief's latest coater, that I had to put a PAM crystal to the test. It seems that double AR has a different appearance on ever watch I own. I not sure if I'm in love with it on the PAM. What are your opinions?
  17. For a time I lived in the upstate NY town of Marbletown. It was settled in the early 1700s. Much of Marbletown has been granted status as a state historical district, with over one-hundred 18th century stone houses. Within Marbletown there is a small community, where I lived, called Vly-Atwood. At the same time I had a beautiful yellow Labrador retriever name Maize (long e sound). I took the Vly and dog and created my username; because that's what she was, a vlydog. Boy do I miss her.
  18. Do you when Ziggy did the matte coat on the dial? Watch looks fantastic!
  19. Is he really offering to honor his winning bid amount?
  20. I few weeks ago my brother ask me if he could get me a gift. We try to feed each others hobby addictions with special presents. This was just about the time I was gather parts for my 5513 project. Well he paid just north of $300.00 for an aftermarket dial on the bay. Singer blank with the description: "This dial has been refinished by a professional." I had my doubts about its authenticity but accepted it with appreciation. Well long story short, I decided to not use it and asked my brother if he would try and sell it again on the bay. Well it sold and several days went but without payment and then he received this: Hi, I wanted to explain what I have been doing about this dial. I sent scans of it to several people who know Rolex parts much better than I do, and they all agree that it is a counterfeit dial. I have a scan of a known genuine dial that shows the 'Singer' and the trademark and it clearly is not the same. It is close, but the font is different. The problem with it being not genuine is that if anyone takes the watch to be serviced, Rolex can, and usually does confiscate counterfeit parts like that. If it didn't have the trademark counterfeited on the back, they might not get so upset about it. But with the trademark counterfeited, I've been told they definitely will get pissed. I am worried about selling the watch to an innocent person and having them surprised when Rolex snatches their dial and/or the whole watch from them. That may have been why your brother did not want to use the dial. I sell stuff on eBay myself, so I know how much of an inconvenience this is to you, so please let me know how much your costs are and I will reimburse you. Also, you can get your listing fees refunded. I know you have a return policy, but it wouldn't make any sense to go ahead with buying it because I just cannot use it. Thank you, and I am sorry. I really do need that type of dial. What recourse do we have?
  21. I hear that South Pacific is great.
