  1. Alternative option to the Seiko (now I'm starting to like it) for same price (BR 03-92 SS with black leather strap):
  2. Or this one (that don't have the problem to worn out the black treatment): SSC135P1
  3. Even better!! From watchuseek forum, a 2008 post from a guy with nick "lysanderxiii": Must tie my hands...
  4. Very nice one Dusk! Ehi, don't you ever think that this hobby makes us to become a bit obsessive–compulsive? I'm also here from not that much and already worried about the amount of pieces that are becoming a "must to have"...
  5. Thanks Nanuq, I wan't searching for a read notification message (yes, the thread title is not good to understand what I meant), but instead what martijnp explained me :-) I didn't notice AT ALL the status under the nicks on the left Thanks both and sorry for my newbiety
  6. Look better Mike http://www.puretime-asia.com/product/transocean-chrono-gmt-44mm-ss-white-textured-dial-on-ss-mesh-bracelet-a7750/ http://www.ttw888.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=16_389&products_id=11308
  7. Ceejay, are you telling me that it's a normal configuration for the A7750? So that I can trust it will not broke in month or so (of course a part from bad assembly from the Factory? And how does it work that running secs @9? I'm not getting how it should be read... To me it looks like this (which is pretty good for a watch tied with car world) but yet... Unless the underneath hand is not a hand but instead a thing like that, made in a way to show only the rays:
  8. Panerai, evaluate a simple fact: a honest guy opening a shop is someone that has a lot to loose (and GdF has a lot to gain to catch them). A random illegally immigrated guy doesn't have anything to loose so it doesn't care that much, and moreover GdF is involved mainly into BIG irregular traffic (international drug traffic, for example) and/or into checks within apparently official activities (they staid 2 to 6 months into 3 of the company I worked for). Street sellers are really not their business unless for some random control. Little street fake sellers are a matter of municipal police, but I've seen how they do: every day in the metro station I use in Milan they do a kind of market. But always there someone doing the "look-out" guy. When they see some agent approximating the station they simply pull up the sheets they use to display the goods and run away from another exit of the station... Again, even if caught, there's not a lot an agent can do: give it a fine that will never be paid, or give them an expulsion advice, that will be obviously trashed by them... Anyway, what was so scaring out of these guys? 99% of them are just trying to make some money to live. Not saying they're a nice show, they can be really annoying sometimes but surely not a risk for anyone's life
  9. Hi Admins, I'm wondering if there's a way to get when a PM to someone has been read by the addressee. I spent an hour to reply to a message of a new guy here that was asking suggestions on how to deal with overseas purchase, and I'm not getting if it has been read (so far I'd have liked to get at least a "thanks") or simply not yet read. Tnx, GenTLe
  10. Hi Panerai, actually I was kind of sympathizing with him because, as I wrote upper, the latest news I could have got were "that Mike still had, at thread lock time, some of the watches, that he was slowly sending back them (some well done, some not)". Knowing how it ended up obviously changes my mind 1st I feel really sorry for the involved customers. And i mean it 2nd I also feel sorry when I see a guy that has some skill to fu_k-up his life in this idiotic way trying the "easy way" instead to use his skills to get better and better and then have an honest gain from that. Really a sad story for all the involved parties :/ And now also I understand why I didn't have had any reply to this post I did few weeks ago: http://www.rwgforum.net/topic/170467-watchsmith-near-milano-italy-someone-interested/ By the way I spoke to the guy starring of my post and he clearly refused because he told me that: If they got a control from GdF (the Italian Finance Police), and they spotted the fake ones in the shop, well, they'll not only be forced to close the shop but they can even get hardly prosecuted... he told me that he has already seen some reps (btw not sure how much similar to our "super reps") and it's always a pain in the a__ to deal with them because the moment you get something to replace (and he said this can happen even just unassembly them) you're going into troubles with customers and loose a lot of time and therefore there's no value for money in dealing with them considering each service is around 80€ (110US$) He told me he could eventually service mine ones just because we're friends but with clear pacts: if something get fu_ked up during the service I will not bother him or complain... I'm ok with this, so let's see. Ciao, Alex
  11. Congrats Docthor, REALLY nice piece!!!! Also I'm pointing out to this, as day-by-day strong and reliable one (also because I'm not finding a Pilot that I really like AND that is reliable in the rep market): The only thing I don't like in that one is the mineral glass
  12. Yeah, me too. I read all that 30 pages thread, mainly as a learning textbook about what NOT to do. But in the end (cleaning out all the flames) I got that Mike still had, at thread lock time, some of the watches, that he was slowly sending back them (some well done, some not), and for sure that he had to improve (a lot) his way to do business. I'd like to get if all the people got them properties back (done or not is somehow less important, until they get all the parts and watches). And also that BS Facebook post, that it has been a really stupid move. In a way I understand Mike: I'm a (good, at least this is what my colleagues think of me) IT infrastructure PM/tech, therefore all the folks in the company (and my 3 bosses) refers to me when sh_t happens, and I was used to always say "ok" and then get very nervous because of the amount of sh_t to dig in piling on my desk. So in the end the result always was: me doing the job, me becoming harsh with those people asking me about their stuff because I was feeling too much pressure, they with job done but thinking I have been an a__hole. Politically = shooting into my feet... Ah, by the way, FORZA AZZURRI (IT-UK 2-1 this night)
  13. Next time try Sardinia in May: wonderful!!!! And the roads... Well, give a look here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=td6l_HMgfhk The whole Sardinia is practically a track! Not to speak about the food and the sea... ;-)
  14. Hi Gents, looking for future dreams i've got caught by this beautiful one: But I'm not fully getting how the rep works in respect to the gen :-/ I got that the chrono seconds are on the central seconds hand, the chrono minutes are on the rotating disk at 3, and the crown @10 makes the internal bezel to rotate to get the 1/10th of seconds. Is that subdial @6 the one for the chrono hour? Does it works in the rep? Also, what is that strange instrument @9? And again, does it work in the rep? Finally: how reliable/durable is the rep? I know A7750 is quite a problematic caliber (seconds @6 and @3 ones), but this? Thanks! GenTLe
  15. Ahahah, my man! By the way the worst moment I had in this sense has been 3 years ago in Bolzano which is Italian, but so north that their 1st language is German Thanks God next to Bolzano there is Merano with this lovely place to refresh and get a GOOD beer and GREAT food: http://www.braugartenforst.com/en-index.php . (it is next to Forst brewery and part of it) I suffered less going to Tuscany in July
  16. Ahahah, that's a good one mate
  17. Oh, THIS is a nice piece!!! I may be too classic, but can't imagine to bring around a watch busy and heavy like the others upper ;-)
  18. Ssteel, there's nothing you can really do if it's one of those bloody Asian 7750 with sec @6. It is intrinsically a bad movement... Best idea is to Franken it with an original and specifically Iwc movement
  19. Waiting for mine too :-) Again Noob one, perfectly centered pearl and all the rest :-)
  20. Thanks guys, got it. The explanation I like more is the Icopernicus one: sometimes as an hobby I get some old motorcycle and put it back in proper shape, and I tell you: having a conn rod in a hand and a completely clean ad unassembled engine on the working table is something incredibly nice. That can even overdue the airbrush paint part (which I actually don't like at all, even if i'm able to do that). It reminds me when I spent around 30h polishing the wheels (and other few others hours to re-paint them) of my Suzuki TL1000S years ago. My mother and my friends were thinking I was simply mad Cheers, Alex
  21. Hi Gents, maybe a stupid question, but let me comment on it. Stated that: 1) a rep is a rep: it could have an ETA inside or a gen dial, but still it's with no documents and its value is just the sum of the parts it has inside, for sure far away from an even old gen 2) a good rep working fine is a good watch: the A2836 which is coming with my last purchase from ToroBravos is incredibly nicely done. Unless there is the need to replace the movement, I don't see value in replace the movement (or the crown, or the hands, or...) I admire the work behind a good Franken: I can barely imagine what kind of knowledge and "good hands" you need to do a good job. But again, see points 1 an 2 So, please, help me to understand which is the reason that push a person to purchase a rep (and now the prices are REALLY high! The latest AP 15400 is over 450US$!!!!!) and then put another bunch of bucks into it raising the expense to nearly half of the value of a gen one, because really I've difficulties to get this
