  1. Damn me that when I passed by Copenhagen with my motorcycle (and I was much younger than now!) I didn't stop to avoid change money (((
  2. Such watches simply can't be repped. They have extremely complex calibers, and the reps have all basically 4 movements: the 21.6 DG2813 (Miyota clone: the maximum complications are the running secs in a subdial, the date and eventually the working power reserve), the ETA clones 2824 (day or GMT complication only), the 2836 (day date or GMT complications only) and the 7750 (chronograph, day, date). This really generically speaking. A rep of a "beast" like that patek will be filled with fake complications... Really really unwatchable...
  3. Ahahah, Ezio, so that's the other reason why so few Danish lives here in Italy Especially in the south we are noisy, messy etc... Ah, about the 1st reason? Well https://www.google.it/search?q=danish+girls&es_sm=122&source=lnms&tbm=isch&sa=X&ei=M0O0U-X9B6OQ0QXqjIHgDQ&ved=0CAYQ_AUoAQ&biw=1600&bih=775#imgdii=_ do I have to add something?
  4. Search is your friend (PS: go for asian ETA clone from Seagull or Guangzhou)
  5. Hi guys, I'm searching (from a while) this beauty here: or this one (only difference is the "Swiss made" location, both are valid): and I'm searching them NOT with the Rolex 3156 clone movement, but with the more reliable a2836-2. Looks like is a lost war Do you know if any TD has one of these around? Tnx
  6. Uhm... WU italian site can be viewed in English too... What about registering on that site and use it (if you're from an € country)? You never know, you may be here for work (ahahah, what a joke... Work... In Italy there NO work at all these days... but this is another story) I don't know if the site will block you or not when registering, but you may try...
  7. A7750 at 21.6kBPH? I didn't even know they could exist!!!! Are you sure it's 21.6? I see the same model @Torobravo and @TrustyTime and they both claim it's 28.8...
  8. Wow Here instead you can select "bank to cash" and it's free (well ok, to be fair with the TD you just add some 2/3€ to match the currency exchange applied by WU with the real one). It works this way: you create a transfer on WU selecting that you're sending money from your bank and the receiver is getting them in cash. Once you complete the task, WU sends you a mail with an IBAN code (here in EU it's the unique code of a bank account and it's valid for the whole EU), the bank details needed for the bank transfer, and a WU code that you must put into the "description" field of the bank transfer module. At this point you go into you bank web site (mine has free bank transfer fee for the whole EU zone using € money) and you do the bank transfer. After around 3 working days, WU sees the bank transfer and completes the money transfer. That's all
  9. Let me add (copied by a PM that I sent to a newbie that was asking me for suggestions, when I was in here from around 1 month): 1st of all read this: http://www.rwgforum.net/topic/143915-faq-to-service-or-not-to-service-my-thoughts/?hl=+day-date%20+factory and look the example in that topic (http://www.rwgforum.net/topic/143915-faq-to-service-or-not-to-service-my-thoughts/). You'll get an idea about what service is and why it can be necessary or not depending what are your plans with a rep. 2nd read this: http://www.rwgforum.net/topic/24786-read-our-forum-rules/ Then something I got from the others' experiences that are valid rules of this game: if you plan to wear your new rep daily, then avoid the yellow/red gold plated ones: after 8/10 months of daily use the parts more subject to contacts with your skin/shirt will fade showing the stainless steel below be PATIENT when dealing with China traders: they have family, they have a timezone far away from us (I'm writing from Italy, and for USA it's even worse), they have funny long holidays (search the forum for Chinese new year celebrations). So at least give them 2 days to reply a message, and watch in their areas if there is some closure-for-whatever notification post. web is FULL of scam sites, so better dealing with trusted dealers, see them in here: http://www.rwgforum.net/forum/230-watches-clothing-accessories/ and note that some of them changed the URL of their sites: normally the correct one is in a pinned message in each trader area. Also note that some of them don't have a web site: you send them an email or a PM with a request and a photo of what you are searching, and they'll try to get it for you. Also, remember to ASK the dealer if a certain watch is available before to pay for it! Big sites like TrustyTime or PerfectClones often shows many models not more produced... You don't want to pay and then "ops!"... EVERYTIME double check that the site you're looking into for a watch is not a scam site (for example: one of our TDs have this site: http://www.p-cls.com/, while this -> http://www.perfect-clones.net/ is a SCAM site!) some trader offers refund or reship in case of custom seizure, some does not. Ask the dealer in this info isn't in their Q&A site area read this to correctly get the TimeGrapher picture in the QC pictures: http://www.rwgforum.net/topic/143934-how-to-read-timegrapher-results/ the reps are hit or miss: sometimes they comes "DOA" or Dead On Arrival: better a refund than to send it back to China (very risky and expensive procedure). And often a simple service (see the "1st of all" upper) will fix them and make them running perfectly Never put a PayPal dispute: if the PayPal account get closed it's a disaster for all the other customers... Better to interact with the dealer and try to find a solution of the problem. Eventually (if it's a trusted dealer) ask the forum admin to help you Western Union payment is not "bad". If the dealer is trusted you can consider it. Here in the Italian WesternUnion site you can transfer money for free (doing all online with bank to bank or bank to cash transfer) and the dealers normally give you a discount using that system. My last ToroBravos purchase went through that system and I got 10% discount on a 650$ amount so I'm more then paying my shipment with that discount ;-) awoid to purchase a watch with movement Asian 7750 with seconds subdial @6 or @12 (like IWC portuguese and others IWC and some Rolex Daytona). They have problems and will fail within few time. Search about them on the forum (especially in the IWC area) avoid posting QC picture on the forum: before to choose your watch, search for gen pictures on the web and compare them with the rep: it's not always easy to get a valid rep (I got mad to select a valid Rolex Day Date II as Rolex did a HUGE amount of models in the years changing just few details and the reps sometimes are pure fantasy and sometimes mix old dial with new hands or similar stuff) also avoid very complex objects: an IWC PORTUGUESE GRANDE COMPLICATION is a watch costing 1.000.000€ and produced in 100 pieces/year. NO replica can reproduce such caliber... Even IWC Pilots reps have fake charge indicator... I personally prefer simpler watches where all is working as in the gen never change date on a watch between 10PM and 3AM, it could damage the caliber. Wait the morning after to do that. don't think to find good reps for less than 250US$... (for good reps I mean with good automatic movements that have performances similar to the gen ones: quartz calibers are good if also the gen have quartz calibers, to me it's a total non-sense having a quartz into a watch that is supposed to be mechanic) Compare the BPH of the gen with the one of the rep. Normally gens have 28.8kBph (the numbers of revolution of the balance wheel, see here -> http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Balance_wheel). The so called 21j or 21.6kBph are cheap movements that sometimes are a clear indicator of a rep watch (see here the difference: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Vkrzw3iAPTo ). Sometimes, by the way, the gens have 21.600BPH (i.e. the AP Royal Oak 15400) so I'd like to find good (gen) Miyota movements running at that speed inside such reps. between an Asian ETA clone and a Swiss ETA clone, go for the Asian, providing it's a Seagull or Hangzhou (PTS Resources Ltd) made one. ETA stopped selling their movements to 3rd parties around 2009/10, so what you see called "ETA" are normally approximately assembled mix of parts or old dry and maybe dirty calibers from some warehouse surplus. Miyota (read "Citizen") are good movements, but not so diffused in the rep world. Hope this help :-) Ciao, GenTLe
  10. It's an Asian good clone, in my view. The cut below the balance wheel, just right to the eta mark, is straight in the clones and quarter-moon shaped in the Gen.
  11. Doc, you killed a dead wallet with this site... I was thinking that it was time to buy a watch present for my lady, after she dropped by mistake her brand new one in the ocean in Portugal 2 years ago (in front of me, it was a present... From me... ) Got this one - eco drive, sapphire cristal - from that site (from 294 dropped to 141€): and now I'm trying harder and harder to avoid getting these ones (note: all with gen ETA and for less than 500US$!!!):
  12. Sorry Ezio I'm also thinking to buy a proper 1m tall, floor bolted safe: it would be good for my watches as like as precious docs like the house purchase ones. I've seen that the cost is around 1000€, so not crazy. If you have space in your house it can be a good solution. GenTLe Sent from my RM-914_eu_italy_215 using Tapatalk
  13. One of the rule is "never bring your rep to an authorized dealer"!!! So stay away from them. But you can use a rep friendly independent watchsmith. He may be able to fix it. Also because now you NEED a watchsmith because that watch must be opened and serviced, otherwise rust will make a mess inside
  14. Same here I'm interested in a couple of threads (one comparing gen vs rep BR 03 type aviation) there but the laconic reply of the site it "join refused - contact us" and there's no fu_king way to contact anything there (not a single mail / a form to post a request to the admins). EDIT: and no: I've never ever been a RG member before .
  15. Thanks for sharing Doc, I'm not able to stick to a brand... I'd like to have "the best model" (that I like which not necessary means the most expensice) for each brand. But I know it's def impossible, so for now I'm just being addicted to this kind of "illegal" world here
  16. ...if I can put together my passion for "do it yourself" (just to tell you that my last 2 works have been the complete rebuilding of the wiring of my house and the timing belt/waterpump/accessory belt/2x belt tighteners of my Alfa Romeo) the knowledge from books (already ordered this one: http://www.amazon.com/Watch-Repairers-Manual-Henry-Fried/dp/1626549982) my love for tools (from small dyna wrenches to my 39 lbs demolition hammer) the watches and now THIS: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC7vSOnpUocYq0z8oiYFk0zQ (The Watch Repair Channel!!!!!!!) I'm gonna get mad for this Does any of you guys love to put his hands into watches too? How it ended up? Ciao, GenTLe
  17. Italians too, even if here unfortunately have quite a lot of so called "truzzi" (take care: http://img2.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb20090501182309/nonciclopedia/images/b/b2/Tre_truzzi.jpg) and, lately, the so called "metrosexual"
  18. Yes, in fact I'm not questioning about other people's choices. It's just my taste that is a bit "difficult"
  19. You know what? Basically it's an homage to PAM 249 / 448 / 376 (same dial graphics), and I personally hate the so called "homage watches". I prefer a proper rep to a copied design
  20. Agree, if only they do a 44mm version... My wrist is 7.5 inches and the 47mm would look too big on it in my view...
  21. No no calma... Sono IO Alex dall'Italia!!! Ciao e benvenuto!
  22. At the link I gave you there are 4 that are NOT sold out.
  23. Toro gives 10% discount if you use WU. I don't know how it works where you live, but here you can do all online and selecting a bank-to-cash transfer it's for free. Considering that PayPal isn't that safe because we know the rules of this market, I'd go for the discount
  24. For shiny areas and if the scratch is superficial I simply use a dremel (at minimum speed) with a pressed cotton tampon soaked with finishing professional abrasive fluid. + If the scratch is deeper then I pre-treat the part with fine wet sandpaper (nr 1500) until the scratch is gone, and then dremel + fluid For matte parts I simply use the 1500 sandpaper, taking really care to use it in the direction of the original brush marks. If the brushed part is more rough then I select a different sandpaper (but never below 1000).
  25. Uhm, BP "native" Rolex GMT II is also unidirectional, according to this description: http://www.ttw888.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=1_5&products_id=12127 Same here: http://www.ttw888.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=1_5&products_id=12130 Which are the bidirectional models you're referring to?
