  1. of course. just make sure to take out the movement before submerging the watch!
  2. Listen to RONIN and Prsist... I know for a fact that you can get your watch serviced in spain for between 50 and 100 euros. Repgeek has a lot of other modders as well. Fororelojero.com (francisco is an admin there) is also a great resource(if you speak spanish). Getting your watch serviced can actually be quite affordable. No reason to not have your favorite watches serviced though. It just doesn't make sense. These asian replicas are ticking timebombs as far as mechanics go. Get it serviced and you won't have to worry about anything going wrong mechanically.
  3. Hmm...... Have you written your will yet? Can I be in it??????????????
  4. looks nice. I spoke with Josh and he said that currently these dials are not for sale, but possibly in a few months the watchmakers will put them up for sale
  5. where are you from naeems? this mod is fairly simple. I did it myself on Friday. I've never modded anything before in my life and it took me less than 2 hours of work. It requires, a vice, a pair of pliers to take the old tube out. and Araldite epoxy. The movement takes about 2 minutes to get out of the watch and once it's out it's very simple. If you're located in europe i wouldn't mind doing it for you if you had the pieces. Anyways.. good luck.. If i were you I'd get this mod done. Very cheap and very easy. For someone experienced with this specific mod it should take less than 45 minutes of work.
  6. so have you lost chrono function? or is this an ETA Valjoux 7750 i´m looking at?
  7. why are you not getting your watches serviced?? Francisco is VERY reasonable (he charged me less than 100usd for a full service of an A7750). Hi-jack here in spain is also very reasonable. Not sure about others The fact that your watches stop, is because you´re not taking care of them. They don´t come from china under the best of circumstances anyways.. so for you to expect them to, is kind of ridiculous. Your rep should last for years to come with proper servicing. maybe even a lifetime....
  8. hmmm... to report or not to report...
  9. my tube and crown is on its last leg, I wish mike could have found a way to source the gen parts! But it seems next to impossible! A real shame to invest in parts like a gen dial with the high probability of the rep tube stripping The dial is definitely amazing though !
  10. Anyone confirm this watch as a rep yet? I'm not an AP expert and won't report till I hear some of you experts chime in on the specifics
  11. congrats.. Looks great.
  12. Genuine Planet Ocean goodness: So, after sitting around in my watch parts for a few months, I finally decided to bite the bullet! Installed the following: Gen Tube Gen Crown Gen Crystal All parts were purchased from Cousins. The install was clean thanks to several members' help via pm. (p.s thanks matt). One thing that surprised me was the color of the AR, which has a light blue, tint to it under certain lighting conditions.. Not the deep blue that I've seen on other GEN PO crystals. Not sure if my crystal is a fluke, or if some crystals are just a bit lighter colored than others. In any case, I think the crystal mod is the absolute most necessary mod for any UPO now. I don't have the gen dial yet, but the difference is still night and day. The crystal is pretty much non-existent in comparison to the Standard Rep Crystal I had the light blue tint I mentioned: here's a pic under heavy direct halogen lighting: (very light blue almost tourquoise) Anyways, overall the mod took me about 1.5 hours of work (not counting the 12 hours I had to wait for the Araldite epoxy to set.) If you guys are on the fence about this mod, do it yourself. Really not that difficult and I don't even have a crystal press! Thanks again! -Fender
  13. p.s. Not sure how many dealers you've been looking at that make you "leary", but trustytime probably has the worst photos of his products. If it were up to his pictures only, I probably wouldn't be buying any watches from him.. but luckily the watches he sells are much better than his pictures portray....
  14. ??? what did you join the forum for? Just to have other people make your decisions for you!?? Sorry to be brash, but use the search functino and start doing some research. There's too much information ALREADY here for us to listen to you worry about trusted dealers on this site, and notice that you've only been a member for a day. Before you ask any more questions.. please read this! :
  15. someone that has more reps up his sleeve than Lani!! whatttt!! (although lani's never come out and told us how many he has ) Incredible collection... I can't imagine spending over (presumably) over $40,000 in replicas!
  16. Strangely I just noticed today that my year vip membership has run out. Not sure how long ago it expired, but i didn't notice it till today. I never even got a notice about my membership status expiring! Maybe that's a feature that should be incorporated into the boardd???? I'll be Platinum again next week!
  17. CONGRATS!!! Redwatch.. who woulda thunk after only 2 years you're already an admin! You guys are all key members here, and good more than worthy of the responsibility that's entailed. BRAVO!
  18. looks disgusting.. who would pay $40,000 for the gen... absolutely horrifying. Looks like they picked it up next to a bucket of paint thinner on the floor of a construction site...
  19. any pics of his watch??
  20. you seem willing to settle for any watch as long as it's "good quality".... What have you seen that attracts you? Do you just want a rolex to have a "rolex" on your wrist? The tools and resources are all available here for you to do the research and find out what it really is that you want. If you're idea is to have a watch from one our dealers before christmas.. GOOD luck.. it's a big 50/50 right there. Take your time, take in the atmosphere and start reseaerching! Good luck. -FEnder
  21. I've heard great things about 2geek: http://2geek.net/index.php
  22. how about NO TT watch! blahhhhhhh.. how about a nice brushed/polished steel look. That's nice.. but gold and silver just don't do it for me
  23. Congrats big guy! welcome to the club! I'm a newlywed myself As far as the watch is concerned.. Doesn't really matter as long as it's something you like! I wore my Yachtie Rolesium under the cuff and since I NEVER wear it, thought I might as well break it out of the old watch box. It was my first watch ever and carries a certain sentimental value even if it's visually not my favorite watch in my collection, the fact that i know it will always be with me, brought me to put it on for the big day Go get em' tiger! p.s. where's the honeymoon?
  24. Hope we didn't scare you off zub3qin! maybe you're just busy getting your READ on!???? There's 24,000 members here on the forum and all that have bought watches have gone through the exact same anxiety you're going through with purchasing their first rep. Your case isn't that special neither is the advice... Do what everyone else does and READ the countless other posts that are like yours asking for guidance when the guidance is right in front of your nose using the search function.... No hard feelings though please. Once you've read some and come up with some real questions, we'll be happy to answer and a lot less snippy
