  1. Lately I find myself moving away from bracelets and moving toward straps on most of my watches. Although the bracelet on the MB Timewalker series is one of it's defining characteristics, I still wanted the option of throwing on some leather. I originally was going to go buy a gen croc strap. I headed to my local Mont Blanc store and after browsing the cases, I asked to see some straps. The sales woman seemed a bit annoyed, but brought out the straps and quoted me $350 for a black croc + $60 for the buckle I think. After thinking about it for a very long time, I decided I'd try out the rep strap to see how it looked and if I liked the combination enough, I would be back to buy the gen strap. It's similar to the process many use in deciding on which gen watch to buy. Get the rep first. If you absolutely love the watch, then consider the gen! Contacted my rep dealer. <$50 bucks, strap + buckle. 1 week later. Sweet! The basic dimensions and patterns and stitchless design are spot on. The polished buckle is very nice, with the star pattern rod ends and cut out to match the design of the lugs on the watch. The MONTBLANC etching is deep and clear. Although it is a nice piece, it is not up to par with the Breitling rep straps. The plastic exterior is a bit cheap too. Overall though, I'm pleased. Variety is the spice of life...and reps. Let me know what you think. Here it is. -Spookycord
  2. I have 5 SMP blue dials, 2537.80, 2531.80, 2599.80, 2535.80, 2226.80 (007 Bond, SMP, Chrono, GMT, Bond spiral) and they all have different cases and bracelets! I've swapped some parts around, but they all have different variations in bezel, crown guard, crown and tube, lug holes placement, and of course bracelet vary GREATLY. Some pins, some screws, some polished outside, some rounded edged some sharp, some multi part links some faux. Oh well, whatcha gonna do. Should just sell off all the smps and get a gen. (BTW, looks like you need a GMT. Mine will be up for sale/trade soon pm if interested.)
  3. FYI Apparently there is a new HBB maker who makes the Alpine? (all white Big Bang) different rotor (engraved) and markings on movement. I think TWP is carrying it. I don't know if this is a 'copy of a copy' but it is different.
  4. Great collection man. So whats next on your radar or are you done?
  5. Is it just me or is the case back on the black magic supposed to be gun metal color, not ss Nice lite. Is the bezel knurled/textured on your version?
  6. check with member ajoesmith. i remember him having some porto parts
  7. Baume et Mercier Classima Executive line and Catier Love watch (from the wife)
  8. I am writing this to invite our sponsored dealers and collectors to give us an idea of their rep of the year BASED ON SALES. Based on either total Units sold or Total Sale ($) by watch. I'd like to see this objective look into the 'Rep of the Year' debate.
  9. If cost vs gen percentage was taken into consideration then my Cartier Tortue would take the cake. $160,000 gen vs $100 rep.
  10. Is it possible to polish a brushed PVD bezel or will this just strip the coating?
  11. Great thanks! What was involved in removing the crystal? More difficult than most? cant wait to see some pics
  12. Has anyone sent there HBB lite to get an AR treatment?
  13. all the iwc's i saw were chrono's. the corum is nice but is gonna be too big. need something under 42mm
  14. Thats insane. Must be one. I saw a Patek once that TTK posted that had day date month. gotta be some out there!
  15. Xmas is here and the gift giving is gonna be a rep-fest. My brother is looking for a watch that has the day and the date but is not a chrono and not a rolex. What are some of the better choices out there?
  16. I'm pretty sure this project is dead. the manufacturer pulled out. Really blows. so if anyone wants a cartier santos, with smooth white dial, asian mvmt, let me know.. its avail for sale or trade.
  17. Some dealers offer the 'servicing' for an extra fee. Question is, how do you know if they actually did anything or just are charging you $150 and drop shipping it anyways? I'd say there are arguements for paying a watchmaker for serving a rep and against it. If I have a watch that I am really fond of or have spent some time effort or money into modding, or otherwise unique, I might consider getting it serviced, if it's a 'keeper'. If it's just gonna sit the way it is out of the box or if I know it will be readily available (if not improved upon) from the manufacturers down the road, then maybe I'll just toss it when it dies and buy another. Or sell it off for parts. To each his own. But thank god we have people like The Zigmeister. It's like condoms and guns. I'd rather have 'em and not need 'em, than need 'em and not have 'em
  18. I remember this being discussed before but I searched to no avail. The question is: Is there an easy fix to the recessed datewheel issue on an Asian 7750 mvmt besides swapping to a 7753 of course. Can someone shed some light as to why it's recessed and what can be done to fix it if anything?
  19. What about TWP's modded selection. He is a US based dealer. I personally don't have any of his modded watches, but they sound nice: "Swiss Unitas 6497 Features: 18,600 VPH, Swan Neck Regulator Hack Mechanism: Yes Case: Titanium(one piece forged construction) Case Dimensions: 44 X 14 Caseback: Display Crystal: Sapphire Ar Coating: Yes single layer Dial: Black Sandwich with running seconds @9:00 Strap: Choice of leather or rubber Type: Choice of pre-v buckle or Deployant Additional Comments: Mods include cannon pin fix Superluminova relume to dial and hands Movement tested and calibrated" http://watchgroup.net/index.php?main_page=...products_id=161
