Agreed. I had a die that was big enough but the crystal still didn't go in even so I tried to "correct" it by applying pressure to one side instead of doing the right thing, which would be to pop it back out and start again. Live and learn.

Advice on what not to do? Well one is if you think you might be applying too much pressure on the press you def are. Second. Use the correct die and Make sure your die is centered. Third take your time. And if at all uncomfortable take it to a professional. S

Here is what happens when you get your crystals double coated. People keep poking at the crystal to see if it is there and eventually get frustrated and then "craaaacckk"!!! haha oops! btw, this was taken about 6 inches away from a direct florescent bulb. Cheif's AR is still impressive on the parts that aren't cracked. Still looking for a replacement.

There are other flaws as well of course. Gen is 46mm, rep is 42. Gen is ceramic case, rep is pvd. Gen has white datewheel. Rep is black (same as gen top gun). I'm sure there are others but these are the obvious ones. I still think it is a great looking watch, regardless of accuracy. Kinda reminds me of an MBW Nautilus. Not an exact replica of any one Patek Nautlius model, but still a high quality timepiece.

Good question. Factory AR would be CD06, SFSO, INGY and VCO. Rest are Cheif. I do have a jacob'd VCO crystal i need to install.

Yes though if they came out with a lite version with a A21J, it would probably be SS, not WG, ala PVD vs Ceremic.

So it is actually more accurate to offer the rep with a mod 7750. Be on the look out for the BBK lite with a 21J in it for half the price but still twice the price of any other 21J. Plated white gold is interesting though.

Couple quick questions: 1. I noticed the MBK Nautilus has the 'grid' pattern and not dots. Is this innacurate to the gen or are there gen versions with the 'grid' pattern around the edge of the dial. 2. Where can I get a rubber strap for my Aquanaut?

has anyone removed the crystal or movement from a Mont Blanc Timewalker? I'm stuck.

So I'm getting crystals ready to send to chief and one piece is a mont blanc automatic. after openning the case back, it's pretty obvious the crystal is not coming out that way. It's somehow gotta come from the front. I thought it would be something like my portuguese which has the movement/dial dropping out front too, but there were no screws holding in the front 'bezel'. There is definitely a lip and a groove on the MBTW. Could the front twist off? I don't want to try anything with too much force, before asking if anyone knows How do you remove crystal/drop out the movement of a MBTW? Tried the duct tape, but didnt work... so far

Excellent review! Did you forget to add relume to your list of modability? A great look at a great watch.

IMHO the MBTW is one of the most underrated overlooked reps. The automatic is practically flawless out of the box. The chrono is very nice too, save the recessed date Slevin is good but needs AR. MBTW should have AR but it's not noticeable due to the sliver dial. I think you'll be happy either way.

Go with the 45.5 from Trusty. You can't go wrong.
