  1. That's a good one. No, the show was before our times, I fancy. But Americans still love referring to it. BTW, I just realised -- Mary Ann and I are almost the same height! I'm 167cm and she's around 164.
  2. I know I rated you a thank you already, but THANK YOU!! 3 seeders, no leachers, and only 184MB. Should take no time at all to download. I'll be seeding until it's 2:1.
  3. Seriously? That's the same look every Junior League matron has in the Deep South. I must check those brownies again. So was he. Care to guess who this is?
  4. I always would've done Ginger anyway.
  5. President Clinton's PAM is well-known, so much so, I think people call it the Clinton PAM. It's the 089. And just to make it fair and balanced, old President Bush wearing a PAM too (he discovered it way before Clinton did). I've remarked that celebs have this UNGODLY habit of wearing their PAMs on OEM straps or worse, the rubber diver. I mean, can't their personal assistants get on the 'net and find nice aftermarket straps?? Sheesh. Oh, and in case you're moaning that this isn't movie-related, nah. I'm sure GHWB was in Naked Gun, and Clinton was in Team America.
  6. In my family, we have a rule. No charitable donations to non-medical organisations (most of ours goes to the League against Cancer, etc.). Everyone has their causes, Dani. I'm glad you do too. Right, again, they are not sentimental about animals. Throughout all their history, they were a nation overspilling with people. You eat what you can, or starve. It's a 5000 year old culture. Toughie, but still I'm glad there are people like you, who battle the windmills!
  7. I think your cause is admirable, Dani. It's obvious you have much passion in it. But I personally always check the background of any charity that I donate moneys to. Having lived in the Third World, I know all those good folks who contribute monthly funds to the "Save the Kiddies" type charities, often advertised on television late late at night, are a rip off. Those kids don't see but a 1/10th of those funds, as the moneys get funnelled into the pockets of dozens before it reaches them. Sad but true. I once did a summer Peace-Corps "type" tour in Peru, and I was shocked to see the rampant corruption around me. Anyway, back to One Voice. If you read it's mission statement, it'll tell you something about them: http://www.onevoice-ear.org/english/organi...on/mission.html For the record, Th
  8. Llsteve80, best of luck, behind your decision 100% -- and don't worry about your dad. Fathers often have these reactions (mothers usually are more supportive). I'm not suggesting this is true of him, because I don't know him, but I once heard Karl Lagerfeld say that his favourite observation is: "The best moment in a man's life, is when he notices his son is mediocre" You're lucky you live in America, where going to back to college ain't-no-thing. In the State of Florida, we have over 2000 Universities, colleges, and institutions of higher learning alone. ONE STATE in 50. That's more than all of the UK combined. Sure, they're not all Oxford or Cambridge, but they aren't Open University either. Some Community Colleges here even duplicate the full 4-year-campus experience very nicely. Miami Community College, Kendall campus has sororities, fraternities, and a huge, leafy campus. U of Miami it's not, which is like a country club, but for $30-something dollars per credit, who's quibbling? Best of luck again! Don't let anyone interrupt your dreams. GO SALUKIS! (Oops, they're Huskies. Oh well, I just like saying Salukis)
  9. I liked it. Ken is just bitter because he won't look as good when he hits 900 years old. BTW, I thought this thread was about suggesting watches for Rambo to wear, to kill baddies. I have one. How about the MTM "Special Ops BLACK HAWK" watch? Speaking of Crown Princes, as worn by the future King of Spain: Not exactly a very Rambo action shot, I agree.
  10. In other news, Archduke Franz-Ferdinand is assassinated in Sarajevo! Probably not to worry.
  11. There was definitely a Hamilton ad campaign tied to I Am Legend, but I couldn't see that watch. These are the screencaptures. From Kenmaster's thread: http://www.rwg.cc/members/index.php?showto...mp;#entry376067 (Whatever happened to KM?)
  12. Uncle Jay, you have struck my WIS g-spot. I LOVE SPOTTING WATCHES in film. There have been some interesting threads here in the past. Here they are: Fitmic's Watches in Movies http://www.rwg.cc/members/index.php?s=&amp...st&p=315451 Pugwash's Watches in Movies and TV, Again http://www.rwg.cc/members/index.php?s=&amp...st&p=137268 894Tom's Prop Watches in Movies http://www.rwg.cc/members/index.php?s=&amp...st&p=366664 AlexM's Watches in Movies or TV Shows http://www.rwg.cc/members/index.php?s=&amp...st&p=115473 R11co's Bond 22 http://www.rwg.cc/members/index.php?s=&amp...st&p=381148 Victoria's Watches of Rambo http://www.rwg.cc/members/index.php?s=&amp...st&p=396442 And one of the best out of forum links: http://jitteryjim.com/?page_id=432 Let the spotting begin, as the groom told the bride on their wedding night!
  13. What happens when you join one of the best TV cartoon series ever, to one of the catchiest pop tunes ever?
  14. It's not often you hear this, but your father gave you life twice.
  15. Lani, your heart is as big as your watches. You have given up something today, which means so much to you. And you obviously have experience in the topic. But these kinds of public professions of help CAN indeed seem cold, and bullying. Should he be ready, he'll respond. One thing is for sure. My watches are ready for shipment, and I'm sure, others are too. That's not the actions of a manipulative, out-of-control addict. He has problems, he's under stress, but he's serious and responsible. Also, as a medical practioner, he has access to solutions which your average person does not. However, he can also be flagged by the Medical Board of his State, for all these problems. As a doctor's daughter, I know these are facts often overlooked by others, but we can't in his case. No matter how much we understand and have experience with this matter, we need to accept their situation, and their own timeline. I think TWP will know what to do, soon enough. I don't read him as destructive, just as full of macho brio. This situation will have a happy ending. God willing. I am sure of it.
  16. VERY cool watches. Jay's stepping it up a notch. You know, I WAS going to post on the Oris, but not in the same way you guys are. Lower-right hand corner. Laughed so hard, almost chipped a tooth.
  17. Doh! :close_tema: Forgot to update last night. Due to the overwhelmingly positive replies, Ptolomeo, I bought it. BUT, I appreciate the point-de-vue. If I get it, and agree with you and Andreww, it won't be worn!
  18. Nah. Along the same lines, I have yet to buy a box and papers for my reps. There's NOTHING wrong with that. It's makes for a beautiful presentation and there are many reasons why it's a good idea. Storage, protection, etc. But deep down, I feel having a box, without having a gen is smarmy. I can't reconcile this. If I were to be asked if my DSN PAMs are genuine*, I'd lie and say yes. That's not honest. So why do I feel this way about owning the box? *With exceptions. I was already asked by one gen forum member if my watch was real. I said no it's a rep. Also I would never lie about the reps to my nearest and dearest. I'm talking about the guy on the street.
  19. Thanks for the report, Emmzy! That's why I put a limit of 100 reps on myself, in November. Well, I'm over that. But eventually, it's gotta stop. There is no PeerGuardian2 that can slow down authorities from snooping into my online activities. I'm only in it until it gets too "real". We'll see.
  20. YES. To inject a bit of levity, remember that old saying: "Does Macy's tell Gimbel's?" Well, Macy's is still around, isn't it...wonder why. @TWP's reply: I know that may be true -- that you're quitting forever. But right now, your life is shambolic. Do you really want to be making decisions about what or what not you'll be doing in future, NOW? Well, it's none of our business. But look at all the replies so far. Just take care of YOU.
  21. Welcome back, Maciek! Hope Ola is well too. They are normal, and people here and on Risti etc. are wearing them. As I said above, yes -- normal as in popular, readily seen on Wristchecks, for sure. But I don't like these GODAWFUL StrapCulture Asian leather straps. The buckle is WAYYYY too chunky, although charming. I love it, even if I know it looks silly. This is the Giovanni e Figlio La Spezia strap. It is my thickest strap, measuring 5.5mm (it's more, since I measured it for another RWGer, closer to 6mm), and with a buckle to match. It's a monster, look. Thing is, because it's Italian leather, it feels SO GOOD. SO RICH. And it doesn't look as thick as it is, even on my smaller wrists. Lying flat here. That red arrow? Well, I too have the Yaaaaaarrrr! pirate buckle, seen here on a Dino Zei Strapmasters. If you want a thick but LIGHT strap, made to order, try Micah Dirksen. His are perfect. Everyone has their taste. And I have come to the conclusion that I prefer Pacis and Manifatture Firenze straps the best. The first one is medium thick, but you don't feel it. The second is almost as thin as OEM straps. To each their own.
  22. Homer, I don't know whether to giggle at a mock-cynical remark, or to be genuinely scared. Please share what this week's episode was about.
  23. I just logged in, saw your PM about an awaiting email, and was thrilled to bits you had returned. Then I read this. I've said this before, TWP, you are the most honest (in the fullest sense of the word) person I have ever met online. You say things, if I were experiencing them, I would have trouble sharing with my most intimate friends, let alone on the ethernet. I don't know whether to be shocked or not. But I do know when to be touched. Your life touches me deeply. It also makes me wonder why my own life and personality has been spared such travails, with the secret fear that bad things are yet to come. Let's hope I'll have your courage and forthrightness, if and when. A word to my fellow forum members: The problem with these one-man operations, like we've seen with TTK and now TWP, guys, is that we expect way too much from one person. In business models we are used to, we have assurances of professionalism and accountability when things go wrong. We don't expect to be cheated, or ignored. We expect promptness, and near flawless products. That's not the rep game, guys. If that's what your personality demands, pray you, stop ordering. You'll be upset more often than not. As it stands, we're soon to lose two reasonably trustworthy dealers, amongst a list of rep watch scammers that count in the THOUSANDS. That doesn't mean we can't get angry or feel done out of our money when something bad happens. It does mean that piling on needlessly in threads of explanation confirms to them they should leave, and take care of themselves first. We'll see what happens now, won't we, with apprentice collectors all too willing to fill the voids. TWP, take care of yourself. Make the right decisions, not out of revenge, nor to stir the pot, but for yourself, your family, and your customers. That's all anyone would expect of you.
  24. It looks very like the first one, and therefore GORGEOUS! Thank you SO MUCH. Welcome me to the Two Senape Club. More exclusive than Risti.
