  1. Thanks, FxrAndy. Now the real question is, how will it look on a man's wrist (I won't be wearing this), NATO strap, or military strap? Here's one from Angus (Pure Time): http://s16.photobucket.com/albums/b14/pure...nt=IMG_2467.JPG NICE.
  2. Ahh, I thought you had inadvertently answered my question -- about which version I should choose, as most authentic to the time period and 007 -- but no! Turns out Sean Connery wore this one in Dr. No, which will be my choice: So thanks for nothing, TeeJay! P.S.: Sorry to hear about your guinea pigs.
  3. Drat. I forgot another psychological analysis point: - Some of us have social anxiety disorder, which makes us live in sheer terror that we'll be called out by either a jeweler, or an AD for wearing a replica watch. Most of the time, we keep this in check and go to unusual lengths to make our reps look genuine, but we all know it's a matter of time, place, and the worst opportunity imaginable. But there are times when we fly very close to the wind, and almost dare people to do so (like entering AD shops, or going to a party wearing a $80,000 watch, where people know we couldn't possibly afford that). Let's call this the The Zigmeister Disorder or Flavor Flav Syndrome.
  4. Heh. It was a bit Felliniesque, but I bet we can't do in his language what he can do in ours. If we were to put us collectively on a psychiatrist's sofa, I bet you s/he would find that: - We were once deprived of something we really really wanted in our childhood. We make up for it now. - We all say we prefer quality over quantity, by getting the best or 1:1 reps available, but is that true, seriously true? I say we all suffer from a "more is better" condition, also known as "being cheap" and "greed", if are being honest with ourselves. - We have various levels of obsessive compulsive disorder, feeding it by the choosing/emailing/waiting/frustration/disappointment/joy which comes which comes with collecting reps. - Strap collecting makes our consciences feel a little better about ourselves, as they are the one legitimate and oft-expensive piece that "legitimise" our reps (ergo, the more you collect, the more problems you have with your conscience). - We like the stares and compliments about our watches, as reflecting something positive about ourselves -- depending on watch, it can be about originality, imposing strength, or suspicions of wealth it grants us. This is a self-esteem issue. - Finally, we have vaguely criminal tendencies, one and all. 'Nuff said. And yes, I know. It would have to be a pretty damn big sofa.
  5. LOL. Very soign
  6. And question -- how much would this vintage baby run if it were real?
  7. I'm in. But can someone tell me which version I should order, in terms of authenticity, etc?
  8. Sweet strap, deltatahoe. I saw V's LV strap in the sale section, and wondered if there were other, more traditionally designer-fashion straps made for the PAM than "just" Mario Paci, MF, etc.
  9. Divorce your wife. Quit your job. And have your dog neutered. They obviously have no taste!
  10. UPDATE: Guys, I received the PAV 91. O M G WORK OF ART. Wow. How to describe the colour? If you mixed burnt umber with a dash of Tiziano red, added copper, then melted chocolate and diluted it with a soup
  11. Thank God I emailed Elliot late last night to tell him to change it, to the Senape! I agree. I have too many brown straps now, and this one is very distinctive. What do you think of the Natale? It looks a little like the Senape. Thanks, too, Simon. Don't hate me, but I think I like the flashy, shiny buckles more IN GENERAL. As the hip-hop crowd say, "I'm not fillin" the brushed vintage buckles.
  12. Rolli, I now have a PAM 118 so I'll be posting some shots of that in the PAM forum, later. Great pics, by the way!
  13. Thanks for conveying the news to our small community of collectors with such feeling, TTK. I had PMed Reg only this weekend, when he told me of his father's fast deteriorating condition, which shocked me, as losing a parent must be utterly devastating... I am torn between wanting to PM him, but not wanting to overwhelm his Inbox, which his clients may need -- but then I realised that there is no such thing in times like these. But just in case of overflow already, my deepest condolences on your loss, Reg... Victoria
  14. By the way, not sure what the ginormous watch worn by Megan Fox was in Transformers, but if you see it, let me know. It looked like a man's Breitling on an aviator strap! http://www.beyondhollywood.com/posterx/tra...ox-070518-2.jpg Best pic I could find. And I rather think people here won't be concentrating on the watch. *g*
  15. In the book the bank manager and the police officer had a funnier exchange than in the film (as ever): "Do ll the drivers wear Rolexes?", the agent asked, pointing to Vernet's wrist. Vernet glanced down and saw the glistening band of his absurdly expensive watch peeking from beneath the sleeve of hi jacket. Merde. "This piece of ****. Bought it from twenty Euro from a Taiwanese street vendor in St. Germain des Pr
  16. CONGRATULATIONS! That's a romancing the stone procedure still to come for me. One question about AR, in general. I read an Omega review yesterday where the writer said he doesn't approve of double-AR coating on watches. If anything, just on the underside of the sapphire crystal, since having AR on top is more prone to scratching? Confirmation?
  17. Rolli, unless it's different from my own newbier situation, I believe the Admin said he was giving everyone VIP access for the month, seeing as how we're having probs with PayPal. So we'll have to hang tight until that gets solved. I too want to upgrade, since this forum really deserves it.
  18. Yep, he got the taste for it after visiting Jackie Kennedy's home there one summer (God, all roads lead back to that incomparable woman, don't they...). Love to buy my boyfriend one! I'm also thinking of getting him a Nixon watch, which is the next best thing amongst the in-crowd, though still cheap at the moment. Ditto! Loved the F. Scott Fitzgerald mention.
  19. Well said, too! Personally I feel the Hamptons lost their tone when Edie Beale and her mother sold Grey Gardens. No more STAUNCH people. Indeed. Wasn't there a link posted on here or on the other forums, which showed Senator Clinton and he inside a diner, choosing her campaign tune? He was wearing a humungous PAM with a short-sleeve guayabera (I don't like that combo, actually). He also likes Roger Dubuis, I've read. I for one can still remember that plasticky black crappy watch he wore, the Timex Ironman...which incidentally as most people know is the $50 watch worn by our current prez. I like that, actually. Yes, it shows that they're trying to be a man of the people, but better that, than Berlusco and Putin with their ridiculous $500,000 watches. Ex-presidents also earn a lot after they leave office. That is certainly the case with President Clinton who charges $50,000 and up for an appearance. I daresay he can afford to leave that Timex well behind!
  20. That's one of my favourite photos ever on RWG.CC. I'm not much into Mont Blanc pens (until now), but I think this background of computer, watch, pen looks glamourous. Hmm, Ubi and jeans. Stephane and his computer. Does everyone have a "schtick" when posting their wrist-checks. If so, what will be mine...must think. Maybe the book I am reading, du jour.
  21. Okay you two, V and Lanikai. As per your opinions I've sent off an email to Elliot Lazarus asking him for the Senape, instead. Anyway, I think I have too many browns. Although browns do tend to look better on me than reds, exactly, but hey. THANKS GUYS! P.S.: ...very close, V, very close. Argh!
  22. Hehe. No I don't have money, but Elliot only sends out packages on Mondays! I still have a few hours to change my mind, since I bought two straps from him on Friday. HELP! OPINIONS! Anacardo or Senape?
  23. My new wallpaper! Thanks Pugwash!
  24. Ooh, don't like the sound of that somehow. Green makes my skin look sallow, even dark green. I have until tonight to change my mind...any opinions welcome. Right! I loved Delta T's photos and I was only prevented from posting to say so, because it's like I'm in every thread these days! I don't want to wear out my welcome, by dominating the forum. Been told there's a package for me at the address I gave a member for his PAM 177/118. So I bought my first Ti. Now will it be feminine enough to wear? We'll see. Unfortunately Elliot doesn't have the XI papaya in my 115/75 or 20 size. Aww-www. Using the search function, I saw that V had a PAM on the Senape. Looks GREAT on his PAM 111h, but not too sure it would look good on me. Still, your thoughts? Prefer the Senape or Anacardo personally, and why. 1200 words or less.
  25. Erm, by that I mean they are against people who are NOT white, and well-heeled, not that they're against people like that, as my odd syntax made it seem.
