  1. LOL dark chocolate! I haven't heard that one yet.... Whatever works, I guess.
  2. The iPhone has many shortcomings, but this guy lists some things that probably only he cares about. Many of my coworkers have iPhones and the first thing that jumps out at me is how slow they are. So before considering any of its other flaws, just ask yourself if EDGE is fast enough for your needs. The lack of 3G/UTMS support is one of the biggest iPhone blunders IMO. If you get passed that, then try to use the touch screen keyboard a bit to see how you like it. For me and many people I know, that touch screen keyboard is very difficult and frustrating to use. I was relegated to using only my pinkie finger to type mails/messages, and even then I only had about a 75% success rate. If you can live with the fact that the iPhone is not as robust as other phones, then maybe it's a good choice for you. It is, after all, a neat gadget. On the other hand, if can live with its shortcomings, then perhaps you don't really even need a smart phone...
  3. Very nice writeup. Thanks for taking the time to do it. And congrats on finally acquiring your dream watch... I just knew some of your SD photos in previous posts were too good to be a SSD. Make sure you regrease that case back O-ring when you reinstall the case back.
  4. Yea, I'd be curious to see how it looks with a drop of glue on the hands.
  5. Moi babes, Do a little forum search and you'll turn up some good threads on the subject. Cheers.
  6. Maybe it's that time of month for you?
  7. azerbyjam's post (by way of The Zigmeister) makes it appear as though a 28.8 kbph new asian non-daytona is NOT a candidate for swapping to a gen ETA movement due to the subdial hand hole size. You can broach smaller holes to fit larger ones, but I think you're stuck when the hands have hole size is larger than what is required for the gen ETA....
  8. @ ajoesmith - if you're offering a GMT hand of correct length, then I'm in for 2. One for my 63, and one for the 29 you're going to sell to me. ;-) @ Chicken Manny - the standard rep GMT hand is a tad too long. On my old school 63 dial, there really isn't much room to push the 24 hour numbers out toward the edge - maybe a fraction of a mm only. But the GMT hand does cover the numbers. A slightly shorter GMT hand would be more accurate. See the below pic of a gen... If you look at the 20,21,22 area you can clearly see some space there, and my 24 hour numbers look to be positioned the same. The length of the GMT hand is the issue on mine.
  9. Rob, it's the least we could do. Have a warm and safe new year up there in coooold Canada!
  10. ooer
  11. Which "version" of the ETA 7750 will these be?
  12. No problem, D. I'm getting PMs about the run, and I can assure everyone that right after the new year I'll post a sign up thread for a new run.... I tried to take some pics of a sample crystal I had coated with the new process and couldn't find my camera equipment last night... it's packed up from a recent house move and I'm way behind on unpacking! Anyhow, check out this reflectance curve for the new coating. The veritcal axis is the percentage of light reflected off the coated surface, and the horizontal axis spans the visible light spectrum. To put this in perspective, if you have my old coating on any of your crystals and thought that was good (which it was), then consider its reflectance curve is up around 1 (top of the graph) !!! So we're talking a big performance improvement and absolutely no lip/tooling marks too boot.... yea, I'm excited!
  13. Yea, I agree. The old tritium on my 1680 dial looks similar too, and I like it. Repaint jobs don't look the same. Tell me about the vintagizing of those hands... they look great.
  14. Dibs on the 29. And $1k is over priced.
  15. That would be very cool!
  16. There aint nothing like the real thing!!
  17. Yea I'm pretty resigned to the fact that if it is not a Jimmy dial, they're not Jimmy parts.... Thought the CG lever might just be the pic but you're probably right. Not sure on the lugs.
  18. OK, good to know, M! The case, CG, and crown still look pretty good to me though..... Hrmm.
  19. Considering picking this thing up for the case pieces mainly.... Does anyone think these might be Jimmy Fu parts? Did he ever produce dials this this?
  20. The left one is definitely better.
  21. He's really high on the Evo, and he hasn't even seen the Lello DW.
  22. Found these while surfing. This guy has A LOT of Breitlings (gens) and has also picked up a few reps... Super Ocean Steelfish: Chrono Avenger: Chronomat Evolution:
  23. Ah, OK. That explains it... My searches just didn't happen to yield any DLC companies that weren't using PACVD.
