Lello is going to attempt just this. He sent two crystals with cyclopes removed in my last AR run for double AR and is going to try reapplying the cyclopes.
You would have to get them to me lickity split... within 4 days or so. PM me if that's possible. I do, however, have a sample crystal being coated with an amazing new AR for the first time right now, and I should be receiving it back next week. After a quick evaluation of this crystal, we'll be ready to go. I'm also still waiting for a few crystals to arrive from overseas, but they've all been mailed. So the run could be delayed a little based on the arrival times of the sample and the overseas crystals, but the current goal is Dec 10.
I'd have to disagree with Andrew... Single AR does have a hue. Double is just more noticeable. I've said it before, and I'll say it again... You're not really supposed to easily see the color of an AR coating. It should be subtle. All these rep coatings where you see an obvious, prominent blue tint are unrepresentative of true genuine AR you find on the genuine watches. Good AR makes the crystal (and the AR itself) disappear. When you intentionally reflect an overhead light source in the crystal, the reflection will be slightly tinted by the AR, be it single or double AR. Florescent light makes the color especially noticeable.
It's personal preference. The A and B series PAMs (like the 29) didn't have AR. That's well known. Some people choose to add the AR anyone to see the dial and date mag better, and the difference is indeed drastic. Personally, as a purist, I wouldn't coat a 27, 28, 29, 63, etc. I have a 28 and a 63 and would like a 2892 29. But as much as I love my AR, I won't coat those watches. And when I did my 196, I only did a single side.
Yea, I'm just thinking there might be (or have been) a 41mm version of the gen because the 43mm is called "XL".
Edit: I found a 2004 Santos chrono on Ebay with the following measurements: 40.85x14.30x54.50mm. So 41mm is accurate for that model. I assume, then, that the 43mm XL version came recently.
Please post pics when it arrives. I'm really interested in an all-SS swiss7753 Santos myself. I'm wondering if this is 1:1 or not. The rep sites list it as 41mm. The gen sites list it as 43mm, but call that an "XL" size. I just can't find any gen Cartier 100 chronos at 41mm. Other than that (which may or may not be an issue) the most noticeable flaw I see is some of the chrono subdial markers aren't quite bold enough. But there's a whole lot to like about this watch.
On the gen PAMs, the AR is only on the interior surface and its color is not prominent. Under certain lighting, especially florescent, you'll see a subtle blue/purple hue.
You might think it doesn't make a difference on a flat crystal, until you have a flat crystal coated. After I coated my flat VCO and Ingenieur, they were like entirely different watches.
