  1. Ahhh, even better!!
  2. This is a free market mate. You are free to sell to whomever you wish subject to conditions set by you. If people don't like your conditions, they don't have to give you their money. So don't fret over it. Selling the watch in the most hassle-free manner to the person with whom you're most comfortable consumating a deal only makes sense. Period.
  3. Really? I would have expected the opposite... Interesting. I've always thought SDs were more substantial.
  4. 1665 White. Better dial.
  5. An Jen Year it is then!!!
  6. I don't know, but it seems logical. Still one has to wonder why they'd make an AMG version (associated with epic GERMAN engineering) of a watch called "engineer" if it were a French thing.
  7. Sure, a Big Mac and some freedom fries to go, please!
  8. From what I've found so far, you seem to be assuming the French pronunciation is universal. Yet I can't find anything to suggest ingenieur is a native French word nor that the French pronunciation would be used anywhere outside France (or French speaking areas). Ingenieur is also a German word, and having just translated the German wikipedia page I found this information about the word's origin : Given what we do know for sure about IWC's locale, it would seem most intuitive that the intended pronunciation would be Swiss-German, wouldn't it? References (Google English translations of GERMAN wikipedia pages): Link 1 Link 2
  9. Ingenieur is apparently also a Danish word. I don't know if the actual etymology is French or not.
  10. Hrmm, Schaffhausen *IS* in Switzerland... It sounds soooo German to me. Hrmmm.
  11. I think IWC is German. Why would a German company use a French pronunciation for a watch which has an AMG version (after the German automobile)? I'm thinking the French pronunciation isn't what's intended. And besides I have a little aversion to most or all things French, so I'll go with the German version anyhow. Now I wonder if the "EU" in ingenieur is pronounced like the "EU" in Deutsch? In which case this becomes even harder (for me) to figure out.
  12. Hrmm. So you think it's "IN - GE - NIE - ER" ? Is that correct? I think I'll just say "engineer" for now....
  13. There's a place in San Mateo that I've seen recommended but don't recall the name. Try doing a search or perhaps this will spark someone else's memory.
  14. Well the IWC pic forum has been absolutely torturous these last couple days, and I couldn't take it anymore so I ordered the new Ingenieur. So I figure I now need to know how to properly pronounce "Ingenieur". Who can anyone provide a pronunciation key for a native English speaker? My first guess is "IN - GEN - EE - OOER" but what do I know? Thanks!
  15. Yep. Yep. I was worried I wouldn't like a thin watch being a PAM guy at heart, but I've fallen for the VC Overseas that I've had for about a week now. Soon it'll be off for a little Ziggification. But, DAMN IT, how am I ever going to get to the sub project when I keep NEEDING to buy other watches like this new Ingenieur??! Because now I'm thinking with EL's lightening fast shipping I can get the IWC Ziggified with the VC Overseas in one fell swoop.... *sigh* I guess it's only money.
  16. I would have bought this watch years ago if it were more accurate. The subdial size and placement was something I could never get past, though.
  17. I had something like this on a ETA 2836 once. I popped the back case and found a screw had come out and had wedged itself in between some moving parts. I extracted the loose screw with some tweezers, screwed it back into place, and never had another problem.
  18. Rehaut appears slightly shallow yet compared to the gen. Disappointing if this is his "TW Best". Otherwise, a great looking sub.
  19. They're well represented AND well replicated!!
  20. The issue is the rehaut. The 1B rehaut isn't as deep as the genuine. And so even though the 1B has alot of the details right, the 1A is actually the better watch to use as a base for modding. But, the 1A requires alot of work. It'll need a new dial, new date wheel overlay, new date magnifier (a slightly weaker one), crown guard work on both the inside and outsides, and a hollow midlink bracelet. All this is in addition to the usual suspects: gen crown and tube, gen insert, and dial and hands relume. So, all said and done, you're looking at alot of work and money to get the 1A to where it needs to be. I see the 1B as being inferior because you just can't fix the shallow rehaut and that's an important, eye-catching detail. My $0.02.
  21. How bout reusing the old datewheel?
  22. Are you putting the camera into macro mode? There should be a button with a picture of a flower on the camera somewhere. That's for macro photography. Make sure it's enabled. Also, it is VERY difficult to get sharp macro photos when you're hand holding. You really want a tripod or at least something to rest the camera steady on.
  23. There are a few people in the chat... Anyone else feel like joining?
  24. Hmmm... Which PAM has the logo dial and titanium case? Is this a fantasy model?
  25. The white is sort of silvery. It's hard to see the shimmer in pics (as you can tell from the pic of the gen), but nonetheless some people think the white/silver rep dials are not accurate. Other people who have a rep white dial have said that compared to the gen it is very close and that one would need to put them side by side to detect a difference.
