The gaskets are there to prevent water from getting in through the tube threads. To make sure the tube doesn't go anywhere, though, you can use some G-S Hypo Cement.
It's probably a 2824 if it's a sub. The 2836 is a day-date movement. But either way, they're probably the same stem anyhow. I can never find parts on ofrei's website, and always have to call them. They're easy to deal with on the phone and always seem to have the part regardless of whether or not you can find it online. You'll probably want to know what the thread diameter is, though. I found for the 7753 that there were two stems - a tap 6 and a tap 10. Tap 10 was 0.9mm and was what I needed. Tap 6 was 1.2mm.
Don't coat the outside. The AR coating on my glasses lasts about a year before I need to redo it - no matter how much I baby them with the special cloths, etc... And I only wear them at night after taking the contacts out. AR coating is very undurable. Inside only!!!
Interesting, By-Tor because when I look at your pic, it just confirms that the date mag is weak on the rep I pictured. It's closer than I first thought, but a tad weak. It does go to show, however, that ALOT of sub reps have overdone the date mag.
Here are some top notch gen shots for more comparison. Check these out:
Nice. You were right to get it back. I have the old case 7753 model myself, and just love it. Actually, I wonder if the Asian datewheel fits in the 7753 or not because your date font looks better than mine!!! But it looks slightly misaligned with respect to the 4 and 5 markers, so maybe not. Hrmmm.
So ubiquitous and Tribal have convinced me to make a CBW (Chieftang Best Watch) sub.
As a base (mainly for the case - definitely not the dial) I'm looking at this piece. However I'd probably have to use this crystal too, but the date mag looks off (too weak). Please give me your thoughts on the date mag. Thanks in advance to the sub nuts!!!
Well I guess with the feedback this seller has I shouldn't have been taken aback. But it still seems like a pretty big leap of faith to send a $4K watch to a random/unknown person on Ebay to me.

"The auction requires you to send us your watch. We will re-luminous the markers and hands to match in color."
Seems fishy.
How much should I expect to pay for a 24mm steel bracelet? And more importantly are the rep bracelets of good quality? Are some better than others, etc? Recommended sources would be great.

Any comments? 42 GBP seems a tad high. That's, what, about $80 USD?
