  1. Yes it is very easy to understand. And they have every right to protect their intellectual property and trademarks. But at least a portion of this judgement by the court was purely based in non-tort non-trademark related activism and that's where I am disappointed.
  2. My 2824 and 2836 watches have never been able to touch the PR of my 7753. Either those 28XX models aren't able to wind fully during normal usage and the 7753 is, or the 28XX just have less reserve. But I usually get at most 24 hours out of my 28XX watches.
  3. I have a question regarding 16610 bezel inserts.... Now correct me if I am wrong, but I believe that at one point the 16610 bezel pearl was a luminous dot of some sort that was later switched to a non-luminous pearl. I'm pretty sure that the 1980's version of the insert was luminous. My question iis when did Rolex make the switch to the modern pearl we have today? Thanks!!!
  4. Yes it does. And I asked the online VC dealer about it, too. They said that white dial looks much more silverish in person.
  5. Thanks for sealing the deal kruzer. I don't think I'll be too picky about the cross on the dial because the date font is never gonna get fixed anyhow. On second thought, maybe I will be picky about that cross. ;-)
  6. Agree. The district court said the watches were "...likely to cause confusion to subsequent or downstream purchasers as well as to the persons observing the product." Please. This is just another example of judicial activism. The only issue at hand in this case from a legal stand point is did he or did he not mispresent the product to *his* customers. How his customers represent the product to their customers he simply can NOT be held liable for.
  7. What's this gen dial worth to you?
  8. Yes. Just unscrew the crown, press the stem release, and pull. Out it will come.
  9. Yea. We need a bigger and better cross on that dial!!!
  10. I think the spring may work depending on the crown. I had a Lello with a very stiff spring and didn't have any problems getting the stem to push into the movement. But my problem was that the Lello's underside lip was too shallow for my 196 and I didn't want to alter the case for it. As far as shortening the tube, I'd probably just use a flat file and do it slowly by hand.
  11. Sach's pic looks pretty dang close to this pic of the gen to me (dial wise anyhow). Being the picky bastard that I am, I just gotta wonder if there's a rep out there with a slightly bigger cross under the 12.
  12. OK, that makes sense. So is the replica white dial accurate, then?
  13. Interesting because the silver dial on vacheron-constantin.com looks very different than the white dial on that essential-watches website. Maybe it's just the lighting in the photos... So, anyhow, the question remains as to whether or not the replica white/silver dial is accurate or not. Any idea?
  14. I've seen it mentioned that the white dial VC Overseas is a fantasy rep. VC's website (which is very unverbose) on pictures black and silver (not available as a rep) versions. Yet, here, I see a white dial for sale from what appears to be a legit dealer: http://www.essentialwatches.com/listing_de...mp;itemID=10990 I'd certainly like to add a white dial watch to my collection, and the 1:1 VC Overseas is definitely on my shortlist anyhow. But fantasy reps aren't for me. Anyone know for sure on this?
  15. I'm convinced that US Customs issues are mostly (entirely?) dependent on the port of entry. Here on the left coast it sure seems to me that they (San Francisco) will allow any and all contraband through.
  16. Overall a very good rep. I have one that is about 3 years old and it is probably a little better than this Honpo version. Both my version and this version have the glaring date font flaw. The real Roadster has a custom printed datewheel while the reps have the standard ETA datewheel. And it's very noticeable. This Honpo version has a lousy caseback that looks nothing like a genuine. The version I have from 3 years ago has an engraved caseback (the Honpo caseback looks to be printed on rather than engraved). And the details on my caseback are very faithful to the rep, while the Honpo isn't close. Otherwise the dial looks very good as does the case for the most part. The silver hands are accurate, too on the particular model in your photo. I have seen many a gen with silver hands.
  17. Ah that's what duplicate layers and masking are for... Nevertheless, the pics are fine and I look forward to seeing the progress of this project.
  18. Hell yea!! Don't keep us waiting too long for pics!
  19. Hey Ubiquitious, any chance I could bother you to take straight-on shots of those so I can get a better picture of the date magnifiers on each? Marvelous as always, though. Thx!
  20. So how does one buy a Greg Stevens?
  21. Will there be more pics of the girl with the huge cans on this website?
  22. www.trcr.net - The Rolex Collector's Resource
  23. Nice and fat Greg Stevens there.... Is it comfy?
  24. It is a tad thin, isn't it. I think the DON shark straps have more beef, so to speak.
  25. Normal. Most likely it has to do with the fact that the USA is on a national holiday weekend and delays are slightly longer, or it has passed through customs and status has not yet been updated in the system. I have received packages at my doorstep while the online status said they were still in customs.
