  1. Send him a PM mate, J is an old school gentleman, a talented machinist and a tight-wad
  2. I’ve just dug out the Omega, that huge Watch next to it is a standard Cartel. In case you are wondering, yes it is absolutely a men’s model.
  3. I like vintage watches and have girlie wrists, my sweet spot is 36 - 40mm. I have an Omega I picked up a few years ago, solid rose gold case and very pretty, but feels too small at 30mm. I have a small collection of military watches and some of the early ones are tiny by modern standards. I have three working WWI trench watches and some parts and projects. By random chance I have two the same and of that pair the one in less good condition gets fairly regular wrist time. Large, I’ve grown to like 44mm Pams, I have a couple at 47, but feel a bit self conscious in them. I have a B-uhr homage. 55mm. Even the strap is so big, I could probably wear it around my thigh. It was designed to go over gauntlets though.
  4. If you are serious I could put you in touch with guys who could do the dial. Here to enable ?
  5. What is the volume like on that. I’ve noticed Quartz Timex are insanely loud
  6. Bless! You noticed. You have no idea how many cockerels I had to sacrifice to get the magic number for Halloween. Not that I’ve got Gothic tendencies
  7. Happy Halloween Brothers!
  8. I know how you feel. It seems to be a draw for some, but I keep away from it too. It’s good to seek information and inspiration wherever one can, Anyway the boards are on better terms and work closer together than many of the members seem to realise
  9. No mate, I did that with watches and ‘phones when I was even more of a Geek and less of a WIS. I even used coloured LEDs for illumination. Just a picture grabbed from the web, mine are in Poland and I don’t have a telephoto that good? I removed the WR100M text as well.
  10. Nice discovery Minty, I love how the light reflects on that orange. So which factory is going to produce these for us? Even a decent Doxa rep would be welcome
  11. Very 1970’s James Bond. You need to do the mod and delete the unnecessary text @SSTEEL There was a bit of a craze for them about a year ago and I got that and the black one. Great fun
  12. Hello and welcome to our part of the community. You will find us a little less lively and boisterous than RWI, we have less members for a start. On the other hand many of us are members of several forums including RWI, so you should recognise plenty of guys here already. Two great watches there, It looks like you have already figured out the best suppliers and modders. Slaughterer is with us as well. Tripdog’s builds are going from strength to strength. May I ask where you sourced the Vietman parts from please?
  13. I don’t know the answer to the first question, but the second is a definite yes. There are a few guys making high quality custom straps. Try @donerix for one An old advert, but it gives you an idea
  14. Some awesome posts here, make some build threads guys please. You have infected me so now you have a duty to enable me
  15. I’m a Geek and I love music. The day job and music? Win ”Never trust a man to do a machine’s job”
  16. I bow to your far greater knowledge @alligoat I think I have seen both on later gilt dials 1967 and MilSub is feet first. So I guess 1967was the change point?
  17. 5513 definitely had both. I seem to remembered it was to do with the market the Watch was sold in, metric countries mostly got Metres first, imperial countries mostly got feet first, with the usual caveat that nothing is set in stone with vintage Rolex and almost anything can and did happen
  18. @freddy333 what about Micheal Young for hands? I have a set for a 6538 and the second hand has a lovely taper. Nothing beats gen, but if budget is a concern these might pass muster.
  19. Twin line usually is in reference to vintage Rolex where some dials had two lines of text in the lower half of the dial and some had four
  20. His three hand dials are cheaper than the six hand ones, which probably reflects the extra work in getting a Daytona anywhere near right.
  21. Absolutely fantastic that you are doing this Brother, thank you so much and good to see you back
  22. I wouldn’t go that high, jackflash makes a better one and he is a know seller?
