  1. Well there you go, the exact opposite view to mine posted while I was writing. Some merit to both views I think.
  2. I've seen some very pretty ones and I like toys, but I always think, well I don't have a rolling road on my drive so my cars accumulate mileage and wear while I sleep, so why would I want to do that to my watches. I guess if you have two or three automatics in rotation and are lacking in patience they have a use. I have a few more than that and when I change watch, setting time and date is part of the ritual. I find it therapeutic.
  3. Probably as easy to get a genuine crown and suitable stem from Cousins as try to buy a rep one.
  4. ^^^ I resemble that remark! ^^^
  5. The big fear with reducing dial size is paint flaking. There are some threads. I believe members have had success by protecting the dial face and mounting the dial on a spindle such as a dremel, then holding sanding paper to the spinning dial. Slow, patient and very careful I would think. As I mentioned, ensure the chapter ring will not be hidden first. Do your research, take a brave pill, then go for it.
  6. I know, I read it there my friend, but not everybody is on multiple forums. I would welcome you sharing your builds with members here. In fact I would encourage anyone to share their builds however modest or ambitious.
  7. Oh yes, I hadn't noticed the watch somehow.
  8. You should post a build thread on that one my friend.
  9. I can't help you on that. See how you go, worst case, we have some talented guys who may be able to help you by opening up the dial opening a bit. You are needing 0.6mm. Another option is to look at how the minute track sits, maybe you can reduce the size of the dial slightly and not end up with the minute track partially hidden.
  10. Yes @chefcook, I think you had better either explain your statement or post an acceptance of @hologramet statement. My understanding is that while V2 is a very desirable improvement, an SA3135 is not a Yuki basically or otherwise.
  11. Hey, you are helping a new guy. I appreciate that brother.
  12. You are definitely not talking to yourself. To be clear you have had 120 views. I have read every update and look forward to your progress, but I don't comment on posts unless I have something to add. We are a quiet and considered lot here. You will get used to us, but we are not given to posting "great job" or any other vacuous short post on every thread. Guys will read and add something if they feel they have something to say.You have caught the attention of some very knowledgeable members, so rest assured your thread is appreciated. Apart from that, you are doing a great job.
  13. Tapatalk is not working for me right now. The first one is a TC which means it is the earlier version of the Submariner. The 16610 produced from around 1987 to 2010 I think. It is largely a matter of personal choice which style you prefer. The TC is a very good watch indeed, but if that advert is the one I think it is, then it is not available anymore. V3 refers to an earlier version of the Noob Sub. I seem to recall some say this is better for modding, but I am unsure of the exact reasons. Just to be very clear it is an early version of the Noob replica, but it is still a replica of the Rolex 116610, the current Rolex model. As an American Soap once said "confused? You will be".
  14. It would be a matter of waiting until you see one come up for sale. You can click "browse" at the top of every page, then "forum" scroll down to Trading Zone/watches. You can if you wish click "follow" at the top right of that page and you will get notified when anyone lists a new advert. You could also place a want to buy advert.
  15. Some very nice watches there. That ROO looks tasty.
  16. Welcome to the forum mate.
  17. Some sound advice here, especially this bit. We spend too much time obsessing over super magnified photographs. I've got reps that any guy on here could call out from the opposite side of a crowded bar and still they don't get noticed. Very few people notice your watch, even less know anything about them and the small number of guys that can accurately tell gen from franken and high end rep are probably your brothers on here anyway. Gen or rep, wear a watch for your own pleasure.
  18. That's a great post mate. I love the idea of personal belongings going down the generations. I am lucky enough to be the first born male of my generation, so I got my grandfather's gold Rolex. I will pass it on to my firstborn grandson, but only when I'm on my deathbed. I still have the Mercedes I brought my first born home from the hospital in and the Mercedes I brought my other children home in. I haven't had either on the road in years, but they are in working condition at the back of the barn. Not one of my children has shown the slightest interest in watches or cars, but I live in hope.
  19. Cześć, I love Allegro, but I don't think I would buy a Rolex there.
  20. Yes, the number I quoted is the Rolex reference number. Movement wise the S3135 isn't generally considered to be very reliable and parts are not available. I understand some improvements have been made to it recently, but unless you are intending to seriously upgrade the watch with genuine parts, I think it is better to go with an ETA clone movement. In this case 2836 I believe.
  21. I understand you are new to the forum, but please don't post the same thing in two different places. It uses twice the bandwidth and your question will be seen in activity anyway. Thank you.
  22. I'm sorry if this doesn't immediately sound helpful, but no replica is ever 100% identical to genuine. There are even slight differences on genuine watches. As you gain knowledge this becomes one of the most satisfying and challenging aspects of our hobby. The Noob version of the current black dial Submariner 116610 is very, very good and would take someone knowledgeable about the model to call as not genuine. The Hulk is the same case, but the dial isn't an exact copy of any of the genuine dial versions. (As far as I understand). The Deepsea is also a very good repilica. We can call out poor replicas and do, but the better ones such as these it is largely a matter of opinion which is best.
  23. First we are convinced the website you linked is not connected to the Noob factory. Maybe they sell Noob watches, maybe not and you will have no certainty of even receiving a watch if you buy from a none trusted dealer. Our Trusted Dealers can be found by Browse at the top of any page, then Forums, then scroll a long way down to watches, clothes, parts and accessories. The Deepsea is a large watch, so consider that, but otherwise the choice is yours.
