    Pam 092

The OEM crown won't fit a standard rep tube. The OEM crown is sprung and therefore has a much thicker shaft. You will need a matching tube or some serious fabrication work.
  2. The text on that 1A dial is probably close for the current sandwich dial 111 but too big for the 1A.
  3. I bought 2 of the 201A dials with the intention of trying the exact same mod on one of them. This is where I would love to have a couple of hours in my dentists surgery - he's got all the correct gear for this sort of job.
  4. His Ti case is good but his Ti crown guard isn't and it cant be swapped for an alternative as the screws are differently placed.
  5. Is that a 46mm BR01-92 or a 42mm BR03 size with 01 markings? I have one of the 42mm 01's and I think that it has an ETA movement - it certainly runs perfectly but isn't accurate.
  6. What mods did you do to the DSN dial and have you any tips on the lume job? I'm asking because I have one of his 201A dials with The Zigmeister at the moment to get lumed and the intention is that I will drill out the case to accept the preV 2-screw setup with a Palp crown and gen G series CG.
  7. You've got mine too, twice, from home and work.
  8. I think that there's more to it than that, my friend - check out the various part nos for both movements. Anyhow, as far as I know the 6497-2 parts aren't readily available outside of the OEM network. I picked up a 6497-2 from a Hamilton and these should be fairly easy to get.
  9. When I bought my gen Speedy it hadn't been worn at all and the bracelet had the new protective seals stiil in place. I took the bracelet off and wore it on a black leather punched (rally style) strap instead. Now I have just taken delivery of the same 1171 bracelet and haven't fitted it yet - thanks for showing me what'll look like.
  10. My experience with the ETA version is that the screw-in crown was very tight initially but that it gradually lossened up and became very smooth. I understand that this is a common feature of the ETA and likely the Asian version is the same.
  11. I have owned more rep PAMs than I can remember and I have never had one stripped thread on any watch - either CG or lug screw and, believe me, I have had all of the CGs off and on again, swapped with each other and upgraded to Jimmy Fu's etc. Maybe I have just been lucky so far. After saying this I will probably mess one up tonight swapping a strap or something.
  12. From what I can see here I tend to agree. The middle one looks like my gen F series crown, as far as I can remember as it's now fitted to a watch. However the teeth etc are very unclear and I would like beter pics. Needless to say, if gen crowns are available I'm interested in buying some.
  13. Looks good and wear it well. I'm wearing my orange one today and I consider it a great rep - too good to justify expensive mods.
  14. You will need to get much better photos.
  15. In my experience Watchco are 100% legit. They are highly respected throughout the watch collecting community and specialise in older Omega stuff. I have had plenty of experience with them - all good.
  16. The gen 42mm don't have removable lugs and therefore no fake hex screws. I was fed up with the inacuracies as well and ended up with a bargain gen BR03-94. It's sweet.
  17. DSN is the way he is because too many people recieve their watches, then post photos of a watch with a poorly fitting CG, inacurate dial, misshapen cse etc and pour out thanks and praise for Davidsen and his 'excellent' watches. Very few people have been willing to stand up and tell the truth - I have and he won't even respond to my offers to assist with the accuracy of his new productions. As long as he has got a reputation that he doesn't deserve he won't change. HIS WATCHES ARE RUBBISH, HIS BUILD QUALITY IS BAD AND HIS SERVICE IS WOEFUL. My biggest complaint is that he treats us all like a bunch of morons and unfortunately he has succeeded in making fools out of a lot of us.
  18. I don't mess about inside my watches so I'm no expert. However, this won't work for sure - the movement thicknesses are at the 2 extreme ends of the scale 2892 = slim, 7750 = THICK. Therefore the 2892 stem won't line up in the case and the hands are totally wrong - the 7750 hour & min will fit on a 6497 but not a 2892. Everything else will be wrong as well - movement holder, clamp slots etc. Change the Asian 7750 for the Swiss if necessary but forget the 2892.
  19. Yeah, the crystal can be pushed out with your thumbs but please don't try replacing it the way another member of this forum told me that he replaced his Panerai crystal, "Just set the watch on the floor, place the crystal on top and stand on it - no need for all the fuss". Maybe that's the way it's done in Switzerland!!!
  20. I have just bought a gen and I love it so much that I'm seriously considering buying the quartz rep as an everyday beater. I was actually wondering about the battery replacement and figured that the only way in is through the front. What's your honest assessment of the watch?
  21. I don't buy my gens new but try to buy watches that are less than 6 months old and I set 60% of current retail as my upper limit. I bought a Speedy pro, 9 weeks old at 57%, black SMP 7 or 8 months old at just under 55%, Tudor chrono 11 months old 63%, B&R 03-94 9 months at exactly 50% when compared with the recent price rise that occurred while the watch was in transit to me. I bought all of these on-line, Speedy & Tudor on ebay and the rest from watch forums. The Speedy and SMP both had the original caseback and clasp protectors in place and were totally mint. The others were almost mint but had been properly described eg mark on caseback where it rubbed on the clasp when set down after wearing. The people who bought my watches new took a serious hit and a few had 2 owners in the space of 6 months - some guys flip watches like I change shirts. There are real bargains out there and I have had no trouble at all. The only watch that didn't arrive was a rep from a forum member. Don't be afraid to buy on-line - after all you can buy twice as many and if you buy carefully you will always be able to get back at least as much as you have paid.
  22. Excellent watch. My 029 is with The Zigmeister at the moment for the same treatment - it's got a gen CG too.
  23. I love the dial and movement and the general air of quality, but I just don't like that case. I really dislike that style of lug and would prefer a regular 3717 style of case. However, that's just me - I'm sure plenty of others will love it. All the best of luck with this production.

    Swiss or not ?

I'm not a movement expert by any means but I tend to agree that it's Swiss - at least the incabloc is Swiss rather than Asian. However I have only found this incabloc on higher grade movements, complete with proper blued screws, sunburst wheels etc. Check for the stamped ETA baseplate.
  25. The B&R03 is a sweet watch but none of the reps really did it for me and I bought a genuine BR03-94 which was a few months old and unmarked. I checked the retail price, did a bit of haggling and pulled the trigger and while I was waiting for it to arrive I kept checking out the on-line jewellers etc only to find that the retail price jumped
